Queens, NY–Melissa Weber is a naughty, naughty teacher. And, thanks to a very diligent mother, Melissa has been outed. See, this mother heard a rumor that her 14-year-old son and his Social Studies teacher were doing the nasty after school. Mom took the rumor very seriously…she obtained Weber’s phone number and compared it to numbers on her son’s cell phone. The rumors were true…

Mom found hundreds of calls and text messages between her son and his teacher, including a text message that said, ‘Erase your phone.’ Damn teenagers, they never listen. It was discovered that Weber had sex with the teen on 7 different occasions between mid-April and mid-May, the trysts always confined to her classroom. At one point, she allegedly told the boy, ‘Don’t tell anyone. I could get arrested and I could lose my teaching license.’ Well, DUH! Idiot. Early Thursday morning, mom dragged her son down to the local station house and all of the sordid details were laid out. Good job, mom!

Let me play devil’s advocate here:
At 14, I had more than enough sense to know what was going on. I’m sure this teenager was not being “used”. I’m sure he saw it as being the other way around. He was looking for a way to get his rocks off and his teacher was more than happy to help.
Does it make it right? No, of course not. I’m just saying that this teen was in no way a “baby” as was said here. He knew exactly what he was doing, and I’m sure his welfare was in no way endangered.

Being horny and being extroverted are not the same thing April. The kid may have not been fugly but he may have also been frightened of girls his own age. I know I was scared of being rejected when I was 14. There’s probably a good chance that she noticed this kid looking at her with a certain way in class, and she came on to him. There are just consequences to things that kids don’t really appreciate… and we rely on the adults in their lives to be conscious of these life-altering possibilities. My beef with these hot-to-trot female teachers isn’t that they’re educating these young guys in sex… hell, c’mon… dream come true for most guys. My problem is that they’re setting these guys up for a potential lifetime committment to an unplanned child. If Melissa Weber got knocked up, the poor 14 year old is a FATHER. This kind of thing pisses me off! Maybe not as much for the reasons most might think.
I am a teacher and this kind of crap makes the ones of us who are there to educate our future look bad. I have never and would never think of doing anything inappropriate with any student.
You guys are so right about one thing….teenage boys will make passes at teachers. I always find it embarrassing. When I first started teaching, it was really akward because I taught seniors and I was only a couple of years older than some of them. Now that I am older, I simply make comments like, “Would you say something like that to your mother?” or “I am really into MUCH older guys.” They are just trying to see how far it can go and if someone takes the bate. Apparently, this idiot did just that.

While I generally agree with you, there are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule. Boys *can* be abused by teachers; teenage girls *can* be involved with male teachers willingly (I certainly came across a few I’d brag about if I got the chance); and some chicks rather not cuddle… believe me.
A point I had planned to bring up but forgot that is along similar lines – over in the forums, there was an article about a Romanian chick who auctioned off her virginity. Soon multiple women classified such expenditures on the man’s part as a “waste of money” and could not, for the life of them, wrap their minds around why a man would pay thousands of dollars for sex. That, in my opinion, really outlines the difference in thinking between males and females. Men are more sexually driven creatures, period. No debating that. This is why an adult male is more likely to use manipulation to get sex out of a minor female, and why a minor male is more likely to jump at the chance to get sex from an adult female.
So, when people refer to the “double-standard” between male and female sentencing in specific relation to sexual misconduct with minors, the truth is, there is no real double-standard. A double standard is when two people are treated differently for doing the exact same thing. But, given the differences between males and females, I don’t see how we can say it is the exact same thing.
