Orlando, FL- Mauricio DeJesus Reyes, 44, is another vile and sneaky bastard who spends his time playing the boogeyman. Just like SoJaded’s previous story about Carlos Garcia, Mauricio Reyes snuck into a home with plans on kidnapping a little girl.

In the early hours of May 14′th, Reyes broke in through the rear sliding door of a home and slithered into a sleeping 4-year old girl’s bedroom. After Reyes took the child’s blanket and a pair of shorts from her dresser, he carried the child to the garage where he laid her down on the blanket and bound and gagged her with duct tape. Reyes then removed two pairs of the girl’s mother’s high-heeled shoes from a closet near the garage and put them next to the girl. After he locked the garage door, Reyes went back into the home to look for more items. Thankfully, thankfully, thankfully, after Reyes left the garage, the girl was able to remove her binds and scream for her parents. Her parents found Reyes in a hallway, the father chased after him, and Reyes was able to get away. But not for long…
The second best thing to the girl’s escape is that Reyes is a stupid criminal. Reyes must of needed some liquid courage before his attempted abduction, because he left a pile of empty Natural Ice beer cans behind the house. Police were able to get his DNA and fingerprints from the cans, but a check of the statewide database came up empty. So the investigators decided to follow the trail of beer cans to the nearest store, a Publix, where they looked up sales of Natural Ice. Publix pulled up all the names with matching videotape to all the sales. Surveillance footage from a home in the neighborhood showed a 2007 Jeep Patriot roaming the streets around the time of the break-in, so detectives compared owners of that vehicle to Publix surveillance footage and driver’s license photos. Detectives found a match with Reyes, and lab results showed it was Reyes’ DNA on the beer cans and his fingerprints on the window of the home. After he was caught, Reyes admitted to breaking into the home, but denied any intentions to assault the girl. Bull. Fucking. Shit.
Reyes, who is not on the sexual offender or predator database, has a history. Reyes had been charged with loitering and prowling four times in the past 20 years for standing outside people’s windows and masturbating. Court records show he was arrested in 1998, for loitering and prowling, but prosecutors dropped that case because of insufficient evidence. In 2007, a man broke into the bathroom window of a home and gagged an 8-year-old girl. The intruder was chased off by the girl’s mother and police never found the man. Reyes denied involvement in the 2007 incident, but detectives said they have DNA evidence. Reyes will now be charged with that 2007 incident. For this latest attempt, Reyes is charged with kidnapping of a child under 12 and with burglary of an occupied residence. He is being held on no bond.
