Oxnard, CaliforniaCarlos Garcia Morales is a skeevy, evil, corrupt, monster of a human being. He is every parent’s worst nightmare come true…a real-life boogeymanBoogeyman reviewsBoogeyman reviews. In the early morning hours on May 15, Morales snuck into a family’s home and made off with their 20-month-old daughter. His intentions? Rape.

Carlos Garcia Morales

Carlos Garcia Morales

While the child’s parents slept, Morales crept into their bedroom, took the child from their bed, and walked out. As Morales was walking out of the room, the child cried out, ‘Mama,’ waking her mother. Her mother screamed and gave chase…her father, clad only in boxers, ran out after the skeevy boogeyman. He lost him when Morales turned a corner. Oxnard police immediately began searching for the child on foot and from the air. Morales and the child were found in a car, not far from her home, less than 2 hours later. The little girl was returned to her terrified parents…alive, but not unharmed.

Carlos Garcia Morales, 23, was booked into Ventura County Jail on charges of kidnapping to commit rape, sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child 10 or under, and burglary. Authorities stated that Morales is a stranger to the child.

I believe Popeye Ray has Tourette’s or English is not his first language, or he is just here to aggravate.

    Either way, he FAILS.  *yawn*

This guy has some major balls to go into someone’s house and take their child who is sleeping right next to them with the intent to hurt them.  He’s either wacked out of his mind or he had been stalking this family.  Creeeeepy.  Real life boogeyman for sure.

Obviously, whack jobs come in all sorts of forms.  Did you take your medication this morning?

Does it change your opinion any that the parents of this wee one are Hispanic?

Man, I SURE hope those scratches and scraps on his face are from the cops after they found him with the child…I think I’d have a hard time holding myself back from inflicting great bodily harm to him if I were one of the first officers to find him!

Looks like Carlos got a little bumped up — perhaps during his apprehension?

The baby was not unharmed?  Is there any information about what happened to her?  In the article linked above it sounds like she was toddling around the house and life was back to normal (for all but the upset parents including mom, who is pregnant).  I hope the baby remembers nothing from this terrifying evening.  Thank goodness she cried out for her mama.

It says he’s charged with sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child under 10, so I’m thinking he went through with his plan to rape the poor child.  Hopefully she is young enough to move on and not remember this terrifying ordeal.

Home is SUPPOSED to be a safe place…to have  a monster just waltz in and do this to your baby?  GOD I can’t even imagine…..I hope the little one will recover fully with minimal memory and lead a happy life free from the fear and hurt this monster caused!

Yeah I was wondering since they weren’t found until almost 2 hours later if he had gone through with the rape, but since he isn’t being charged with it, hopefully he hadn’t.  They should be able to tell.  Regardless reading the story I felt the parents fear.  No one should have to deal with that.  Scary!!!!

Jesus… I hope the child is going to be okay, physically. A real-life boogeyman, indeed. He even looks disturbed – head tilted down and eyes peering up at the camera…

I don’t think it’s paranoid to lock your doors and secure your windows when you’re home. A reasonable precaution, knowing that people are capable of such horror.

Has anyone else noticed that we have several members who as of late have seemingly used every comment to push their own agenda?  As in, turning stories that really have nothing to do with illegal immigration and, say, gun control into referendums on illegal immigration and gun control?  Or perhaps just looking for a petty pissing match on said issues?  Inexplicably?

    Yeah…I’ve noticed that.

Yes, and frequently those comments don’t make much sense in context. Like “this is why we can’t let the sicko’s take our guns away”. Because the parents should have been shooting in the dark at the man holding their baby?

Oh my God, now this one too. I am getting more and more paranoid as days go by. We can’t even feel safe in our own home. This is about the 3rd story that I have heard in the last week about kids being taken from their beds.

Now the story doesn’t mention if the baby was assualted. But by the way it reads…”alive, but not unharmed”, suggest that something did occur to her. This makes my stomach turn.

And who are these “sicko’s,” anyway?  Baby rapists?  There is a big conspiracy by baby rapists and abusers to take everyone’s guns away?  I thought it was the dreaded “liberals” who were doing that…I’m obviously not as informed about the great conspiracy to take everyone’s guns as are other commenters here….nor am I up on the particulars of the coming Mexican takeover of the United States, for that matter.  Man, I’ve really got to get with the program!

I’ll say. Damn, the parents gave chase and he still didn’t just drop her. Kill him, just kill him as he’s the type she would have ended up dead if the police hadn’t found her so soon. As it is the piece of shit raped a baby and that in itself deserves death.

i know this wish is too late but i still wish that daddy would have caught him, i dont think just the side of this stoopid fuck would be messed up, i dont understand how he just walked in, was there no door locks? damn i hate hate hate pedos, as far as the gun issue, i think val may have said it i already forgot who posted that yeah they would have been shooting in the dark and possibly hitting their baby, so the gun comment wasnt necessary in this case, then again as i thought about it if daddy had caught up with him the pedo could have had a gun himself, and dad might be laying on the street dead as the baby girl, heal baby girl and hopes you will not remember a thing. as far as the illegal stuff goes who said he was an illegal, just because of the skin color? typical steriotyping (sp)

    says sexual intercourse or sodomy.

    20 months old?
I can’t get my head around that physically. It’s the equivalent of shoving a broomstick up my nose. It must do great damage, this is wanton disregard, and complete lack of empathy and remorse. I mean really,,, think about that.

I don’t think the firearms comment was that off base, though poorly worded. Clearly, if there is a bad guy in your house, a firearm in a proficient citizen’s hands can be a help, even in this case. Clearly if he’s holding your toddler, caution would be in order, but if the opportunity arose, and you got a clear shot at normal residence ranges (10 feet or less), shooting at his lower body could be an option. A hit in the foot or lower leg in the hallway could stop the chase without endagering the child anymore than letting a rapist carry her off (I am shocked he didn’t kill this kid immediately) , and would not be unlikely for a well trained shootist, even under stress at that range. And if you catch up to him, better armed than not, if you know what you’re doing. Personally, I feel everyone with a loved one in their house has a responsibility to be trained, armed, and capable of defending their loved ones ‘in extremis’. You may not want to do it, fine-it’s a free country, so be it, but don’t knock those who do. We do it because we feel a responsibility to our families, not for fun.

As for this case, locking the doors and firearms are poor substitutes for the ultimate kid protector. A *HUGE* dog. A massive German Shepherd is typically a teddy bear with kids, yet fiercely protective, and on guard 24/7. I have had dogs which would have caught this guy four feet inside the house, and probably left little more than a few red smudges, a little torn cloth, and a bone or two. Even a Yellow Lab is invaluble, if only as an early warning system. If you have a kid, get a dog. They will change your kid, for the better – no role model can ever serve to teach a child selflessness, unconditional love and devotion better than a dog. And though hopefully you’ll never need it, they could prove invaluble in a case like this.

I wonder how this dude knew the family, or choose his target.

I agree jmack.  I love my gsd.  I am on my second and they have a great personality, good with kids (I have a 3 yr old) and they don’t want anyone messing with the house!  I also have a min pin and I think she would try to tear someone up if they entered the house…..don’t know how far she would get, but she would try.  Anyway good point about the dogs. :)

I see what you’re saying, jmack, but I think it depends on the age of the child somewhat…if you shoot the person in the leg or something, they WILL drop the kid.  If it’s a toddler, as in this case, that may be ok because the kid has the motor skills to instinctively break the fall, but if it’s an infant, a hard drop to the pavement could kill them.  And there is still the possibility of missing your target and injuring the child.  It would be nice if all gun owners were well-trained, but unfortunately many aren’t.  A lot of people don’t have the patience to go to the gun range and practice.  As Athena has pointed out before, this is where you can really run into some problems.

Gun control is a tricky, contentious issue.  I don’t like seeing it framed as gun control advocates trying to “take everyone’s guns away,” because that is a highly disingenuous assessment (though I’m sure someone will produce another list of anecdotal “evidence” of this by choosing a few isolated examples over a 30-year period, as has been done before!)

Some gun-control advocates think no one should be allowed to own a gun, but most don’t come close to that.  I support more consistent, thorough backgroud checks, closing gun show loopholes, and a ban on assault weapons.  I would also like to see mandated training.  Some people may call this “nanny state” stuff, but sometimes the public good overrides those concerns, in my opinion.  Guns are deadly.  They have no other purpose than to maim and kill.  If you can’t be bothered to learn how to use one properly, you shouldn’t own one, as the chance of it ending up harming you or someone in your house is much greater in that case.

I would actually rather see more people get firearm training than less people having guns.   No plan is perfect.  My dad is a retired cop and his views on this are much the same as mine.

Every situation is unique, so it’s tough to say whether it would have helped, or not. If told a child rapist was going to be in my bedroom tonight, I would definitely choose to have a firearm available.

As for Assault Weapons, I support their ownership, mostly on a philosophical basis, as an arch libertarian. The only reason to ban their ownership by the law-abiding is to prevent a law-abiding citizen from using them for crime. The problem is you are prejudging that person’s intents, and assuming their criminality. If government begins from a position that we are all criminals, and we need every opportunity to be criminal eliminated, that’s a slippery slope. That’s OK for many here, as they don’t own AWs. But it’s a dangerous precedent for laws.

I believe in general this country should give people freedoms, assuming they will exercise them responsibly, and only punish if they somehow infringe on another’s freedom. Want a fast sports car? Maybe the government will ban them, as you could go speeding, and look how many people die on the roads. It doesn’t matter if you could drive responsibly, we operate from an asumption of irresponsibility and criminality.

Want to have a drink with friends? No go. You’ll become an alcoholic, and probably commit crimes while under the influence. I’m Irish – truth be told they could make a good case for us on this one. Plus look at all the people who die due to alcoholism.

So many things we do consist of activities and items which could be used for criminal intent. The chainsaw in a person’s garage, that chemistry lab in my basement, the Potassium Permangante I use to treat my fish pond (Don’t mix it with antifreeze), the alcohol in the closet, the fast motorcyle, the speedboat (Does anyone really *need* to go that fast?), the kitchen knives, that baseball bat.

Generally, I think it’s best if government assumes we will engage in freedoms responsibly.  Then if you abuse any freedom, be it drinking, gun owning, driving, etc, and hurt someone, you pay big time. I oppose operating from an assumption anyone who buys a specific gun could use it in a crime, so therefore we won’t let them. If they are a law abiding citizen, let them have it, and then hammer them if they abuse the freedom.

If a law abiding citizen  decides he wants that “assault weapon” firepower to defend his family, that a revolver is not enough, power to him. Hell I support ownership if all he wants to do is plug tin cans with it. If he abuses the right, then put him away.

Besides, they aren’t used in crime that much anyway. I think FBI stats said a small fraction of a single percent. Way too big, way too expensive, too hard to conceal, too complicated to operate (what’s a forward bolt assist for?) and ammo is very expensive, especially lately. Criminals prefer handguns for all those reasons. Small, cheap, concealable, simple, and cheap to shoot.

I’m actually such a wacko libertarian, I can’t fathom why, if Robert Downey Junior wants to lock himself in a motel room with a kilo of coke and have a six month bender in private, we arrest him and lock him up, despite the fact he wasn’t about to hurt anyone. Especially in light of this animal above, it seems to me like a waste of resources, and just wrong on some level.
