Did Codey Miller Rape His Mother’s Corpse?

Johnson City, Tennessee–There are very few details being released on this case, but, I promise you, the few details that are known are nauseating. First, I was like, ‘huh?’ Then I was like, ‘whaaaa?’ And then, all I could say was, ‘Ewwww! That’s nasty!’ This is the story of Codey Wayne Miller and his accomplice, Christopher Johnson. Miller, 17, is being accused of strangling his mother, 36-year-old Sherry Cooper, and sexually assaulting the corpse.

Detectives believe Miller strangled his mother last Thursday, raped her dead body, threw her in a trash can, and placed her in the backyard. Cooper’s body had been in the trash can for two days before it was discovered.

Codey Wayne Miller is being charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and abuse of a corpse. He is being held at the Upper East Tennessee Juvenile Detention Center pending a June 5 status hearing. The District Attorney plans to petition to have Miller tried as an adult in the case. If convicted as an adult, Miller faces life in prison. If the case remains in juvenile court, Miller could only be held until he is 19 years old. That’s a comforting thought….

Police have also arrested 36-year-old Christopher Johnson in the case. It is believed that he watched Miller murder Cooper and failed to intervene or contact authorities. Court documents state that Johnson retrieved the trash can and instructed the teen to put Cooper’s body in it. One, or both of them, then placed the trash can outside. For his role, Johnson is facing charges of felony murder and abuse of a corpse. His bond has been set at $150,000. If convicted, he could spend life behind bars.

I’m hoping that more details will be released after the autopsy, which is scheduled for Tuesday.

    Oy! Here’s hoping that he gets charged in adult court. That is definitely a big boy crime, and two years just doesn’t cut it. He’s damaged for sure, and won’t be fixed.
    Raping your mother’s corpse? That’s where I run screaming and try to scrub this little tidbit out of my brain. That’s fucked seriously fucked on almost every level.

    Why? I wanna know why he killed her, why her raped her dead body. What exactly was the accomplices role, why didn’t he stop him? Johnson looks like he could overpower Miller with little effort.  Did they tag team her? Ick, I’m gonna go throw up now.

As horrible as this act is there were many many factors leading in this direction. The entire situation taken in its entirety is truly sad.     In this case, I could really give a shit about the background or the factors leading up to the final conclusion. I’ve heard of kids ‘snapping’ and killing their parent/s after years of alleged abuse, that’s nothing new…but to fuck the corpse? There is absofuckingtively no excuse for that.

    Why on earth would a 36 year-old man be hanging around with a 17 year-old boy, watching him strangle and rape his mother’s body?  That’s as much WTF about the story for me as anything else is.  I find it hard to imagine that Miller and Johnson were BFFs, just chillaxin’ around the house after school, when suddenly murder and necrophilia broke out.  I also can’t imagine Johnson was the next-door neighbor, happened to glance casually over the fence to see the skinny kid next door engaging in shenanigans, and thought, “Hey, I should help my neighbor  keep his yard looking nice by helping him dispose of that body, there.”

    At first I thought maybe Johnson was the mother’s boyfriend, but then I found this in an article:

    This is so disturbing on so many levels, I don”t even know where to begin. 

    Seems there are major details missing at this time regarding WHY? But regardless, I don’t think the son can be fixed.  I am sure a lot of Psychiatrists will come on board with this case stating the son had hatred issues with his mother. But this goes too far beyond comprehension.  Hell, I hated my parents as a teen from time to time, but Murder and Necrophelia  certainly never entered my mind as a viable solution.   LOCK HIM UP AND DO NOT LET HIM OUT. Nor the crazy companion.

Johnson, 36, 1355 Breedlove Ave., Memphis – charged with felony murder and abuse of a corpse – appeared in Washington County General Sessions Court in Johnson City Monday afternoon for just a few minutes while Judge James Nidiffer signed the order.  Johnson’s court-appointed attorney, Jim Lonon, asked the court for the evaluation.
    The Memphis transplant is charged along with 17-year-old Codey Wayne Miller in the May 7 strangulation death of Miller’s mother, Sherry Cooper, 36.

    I looked this up – it was in the Johnson City Press. He said he killed her because she wouldn't take him shopping. After she was asleep on the couch he took his belt off and tightened it til she couldn't breath. When she mouthed “why” he said “cause you pissed me off”. The hearing to decide if he'll be tried as an adult is in March.

    i personally knew codey miller we dated for 5months..i mean yeah he has something wrong with him but i knew him better than anyone deep down hes a good person i loved this kid with all my heart i just couldnt see him doing that but he did and yeah he killed his mother but that was my bestfriend and i always told him i would be there through thick and thin and i cant break that promise no matter what..he needs help but please dont make him spend his life in jail if you only knew the real codey the codey i knew,,we use to sit on couch and watch scarey movies all night play video games together go swimming to the mall we did everything together..i know codey still loves me an misses mee..
