Things Not Looking Good For Christopher Coleman

COLUMBIA, Illinois - Christopher Coleman is the man whose family was found dead in their home on May 5th. Coleman claimed to have been at a local gym when he called for a wellness check after not being able to contact his wife. Police found Sheri Coleman, 31 dead along with her two boys, Garett, 11, and Gavin, 9. They had all been strangled to death. Since then, it has come to light that Coleman had some trim on the side and now he has given his fingerprints to police.Anyone want to take a guess on when they charge this guy?

Police had already stated that they had no suspects, although they believe the family was targeted. Early on it was reported that the family had recieved death threats in the mail in relation to Coleman’s job as chief of security for Joyce Meyer Ministries, a worldwide television evangelist organization based in Jefferson County.  A police source has leaked that someone apparently wrote “I told you this would happen” on a wall inside the home. Anyone else thinking this sounds like an episode of Forensic Files?

The alleged girlfriend has been interviewed by detectives and is being reported as an acquaintance of Sheri Coleman who both graduated from the same high school. Public records say she worked in a bar and as a hostess for a gentlemen’s club in Tampa. She recently divorced from her husband in 2004, although bought a condo with him in 2006.

So let’s see what we got here. A family murdered. Shady threats to the family directed towards Coleman and his work for a televangelist. An ominous message left on the wall of the home, a stripper girlfriend no one knew about, a delay of body burial for the three victims and a request for fingerprints from Coleman. Obviously, this all could be just coincidence mixed with standard police work. But I don’t know…something smells mighty fishy…and I swear, the false death threats by mail proceeding a murder has been done before – I am positive on that.

But whoever was able to strangle those two boys is a monster of major proportions.

What I want to know, was anything taken from the home, or is this just murder.  If just murder, I feel he did it.

It was not a robbery. It was just murder. Supposedly by a someone who warned Christopher via death threats and then left a taunting message on the wall of the home. You know, like in a shitty movie.

what up with these cheesy family portraits with them all wearing white shirts? i think this is the third one i’ve seen where the family ended in familicide.

one is Bart Whitaker’s family… the other escapes me at the moment. it’s striking because the white shirt thing is so “look at us, we’re so cheerful and happy, a perfect family!” when the complete opposite is true.

RIP to these innocents. if this father is the one (and he probably is) i don’t know how he allows himself to continue drawing breath.

This is what it said in the forums:

COLUMBIA, Ill — Police have no suspects but they have security camera footage and some prior police interaction as leads in the deaths of a mom and her two sons in their Columbia home.

Sheri Coleman, 31, and their two sons, Garrett, 11, and Gavin, 9, were all found early Tuesday strangled in their home at 2854 Robert Drive in Columbia.

Neighbors said Christopher E. Coleman came home early Tuesday from his job working security for Joyce Meyer Ministries, an evangelical group in Fenton, Mo., and found the bodies. He came outside, was yelling, crying and rolling on the lawn when neighbors spotted him and called police.

Mr. Coleman is trying to use his best criminal-justice know-how, so HE isn’t the one to find them, therefore trying to keep himself a step or two away from them at that point.  That way he also doesn’t have to come up with some fake “reaction” when the police get there…

I swear, I just watched a Forensic Files or similar type show, in which a man kills his wife but before he did so, he mailed death threats before hand. No…I remember…not death threats…blackmail! Anyone remember that episode? The guy would actually harass his own wife by posting slanderous, embarrassing letters in the neighborhood and to neighbors, making it look like a stalker was doing it. Then he killed her I think.

The calls came in very early in the morning. I would love to see his cell phone records to know if this was an every day occurrence. Were his calls the alarm for her?
My first thoughts if I tried to call home around 6ish in the am and no one answered , would be, Damn it! Wake the Fuck Up! not..OMG someone murdered my family!

His plan to make it look good, actually made it look worse. This is what is referred to as “overkill” -sends the Po-Po’s hinky meter off the charts.

I hope this is resolved quickly because I’d hate another Drew Peterson situation on LE’s hands.

Okay, that’s less fishy than him calling for a wellness check. Rolling around crying could be overkill, or it could be an honest reaction to finding your entire family murdered. The fact that the police are asking for his prints means nothing- of course they want his prints, he lives there and they have to be able to account for all prints in the house.

I don’t see anything too fishy about this now, a lot of men cheat and don’t kill their wife and kids. But then again, some do. Time will tell…

Does it show the last air date?  People like to borrow their stories from fantasy.

There was a case recently on 20/20 where the woman killed both of her hubs via anti-freeze and the last hubs she staged as a suicide. Told LE that he had recently watched a case on TV where a woman killed both of her hubbys with anti-freeze so he must have borrowed that idea and drank it himself.
Seems, she’s done this before and actually tattled on her own self.

“But whoever was able to strangle those two boys is a monster of major proportions.” ~Morbid

I’m with you on that Morbid. This is all too much like a Forensic File case and none of those have a good ending, unless you count the perp. getting caught. I know we don’t know yet, but my money is the father did it. I really hope it wasn’t him ’cause I just can’t understand. If you are not happy in a marriage, get the fuck out. I just can’t fathom…..a monster indeed. I can’t wait to put the fact to this monster. If it was the father, I hope the children didn’t die knowing it was their own father…that thought just makes me sick.

Rest in peace, Sheri, Garrett and Gavin Coleman.

    Moron.

    What a beautiful family.

I think the Anti-freeze case was here in GA.  Lynn some-thing-or-other…She married a cop, did him in, married a fireman, did him in the same way  -either in thier drinks or food a little at a time.  They actually exhumed the 1st hubby’s body to check the toxicity for antifreeze.  She was sentenced- I think end of last year.

I saw one of those fake-threat shows, too, several years ago.  A woman who was a school teacher claimed that someone was sending her threatening letters (and I think, trying to poison her? maybe?) and she was blaming it on another woman she worked with at the school.  Police eventually determined that she was sending the letters to herself.  She vehemently denied that, but the evidence against her was pretty damning.

And yeah…for this case…how in the hell could you strangle two little kids like that?  Don’t get me wrong, any kind of murder is obviously horrific and would take a fucking monster, but to STRANGLE them…that’s just so intimate and time-consuming.  Really twisted.

That’s exactly what I was wondering. Now the wife’s gone and can’t say one way or the other. I wonder if the asshole thought far enough ahead to actually have the “death threat” correspondence to show LE? Also, if they had really received threatening correspondence, wouldn’t LE have worded the press release/information a bit differently?

In forensics, bullets, poison and knives leave traceable evidence behind, whereby ligatures can be from shoestrings to wires… harder to trace.  I think the person who did this, strangled them to prevent forensics from tracing the “weapon” to any known source.  This was a professional job… a very well thought-out crime.  Furthermore, strangulation is a “silent” crime; no noise from the victims.  I’ll bet you the mother got it first, then the kids, and they all were separated from one another to prevent any ‘panic screams’ being heard outside the house.

Connor is the commander of the Major Case Squad’s investigation into the murders Sheri Coleman and her two sons. Connor said they are focusing on one suspect, but would not name the person. “Our investigation reveals who is responsible for these deaths,” Connor said. He turned over their findings to the Monroe County State’s Attorney.

Police followed Christopher and his family after they left the funeral, and they are posted outside of Christopher’s parent’s house where he is staying.  Yup, not long now.
