Troy Ryan Bellar Went Ballistic, Killed His Family
May 4, 2009 by Jaded
Lakeland, Florida–Nathan Bellar, 13, is lucky to be alive today…the rest of his family isn’t. After an argument with his wife, Troy Bellar, 34, opened fire on his family with a 7.62 mm rifle, killing his wife and two of his children, before turning the gun on himself.

While the motive behind the killings is unclear, authorities believe Troy’sTroy reviews
wife, Wendy, may have been attempting to leave the home with two of the couple’s children, when he went ballistic. He shot and killed his wife and two of their children…5-month-old Zack James Bellar, and 7-year-old Ryan Patrick Bellar. He pursued his older son, Nathan, through the garage, firing several rounds at the child. Nathan was lucky enough to escape his wigged out dad and make it safely to a neighbor’s home. He has been placed with family members.
‘This is one of the most tragic, senseless and horrific crimes we have investigated,’ Sheriff Grady Judd said. Couldn’t agree more, Sheriff. Records show Troy Bellar was arrested in ‘94 on suspicion of aggravated assault and again in ‘99 for DUI. Wendy Bellar, 31, was arrested in MarchMarch reviews
of this year on suspicion of domestic battery.

How horrible, may his wife, baby and 7 year old RIP. I hope the 13 yr. old is able to get the help he may need especially if he saw his father do all this.

This has become a daily event in America.
“Folks, if you find that you just can’t take it anymore……
Kill yourself and leave others out of it”!
Rest in peace Wendy, Zack, & Ryan.
My prayers go out to Nathan and the Families involved.
Troy, may you be reaping your just rewards in the pits of HELL.

The poor 13 year old son…he’s screwed for life. How in the would does a child of 13 deal with his family being gunned down by his father and living with the knowledge his father was aiming at him as well?
I’m cynical about therapy helping with that nightmare. I just can’t imagine…

Wendy Bellar, 31, was arrested in March of this year on suspicion of domestic battery.
I would be willing to bet that she was really trying to protect herself and the officers got the twisted version from him- and believed it. That poor boy- At least he will never have to worry about being gunned down by this a-wipe again!

Rest in peace, Mom, 7 year old, and little baby. The other child will need years of therapy to get througth this horrible episode. My prayers are with him…*sigh*

Too bad we can’t forsee behaviour that would predict this. We could send them to a special therapy to instruct them how to take themselves out without hurting others

From Wendy’ s myspace page, blog entry…
“ What secret have the insane? Is it nature’s flaw or genetic genius? Are we not foolish to dismiss eccentricity as idiocy? Because someone is not like the rest of us then they are beneath us. In my experience, quite the contrary. I think of Van Gogh, Hemingway, Tchaikovsky, Einstein, and the list goes on… I think of Ryan, my six year-old son, whose Autism gives him little language. The child that could read when he was three, before anyone sat down to teach him. I wonder, when I see him look out the window and giggle, who is telling him jokes and why can’t all the rest of programmed society see it? How raw and natural and divine his perception of life is….I think the joke is on us.”
There is also a picture of her 13year old Nathan on the myspace page. Sad, sad story.

Disgusting. Yeah, somehow I doubt Wendy was the aggressor in the relationship!
This site so often has me wishing I really and truly believed in Hell. If there is, burn, Troy, burn! You fucking pathetic loser.
BTW, Wendy was WAY too pretty for this ugly piece of human feces…not a supermodel or anything, but still way, way out of this white trash piece of crap’s league.

At what point in any arguement is the part where you go get the gun and kill your family? How do you shoot your 5 month old son (that looks just like you) and you 6 year old autistic son? Let’s not forget your wife. I don’t know how a person gets there. It’s a shameful waste of life. I’m glad you killed yourself.

Why would you assume THAT? Did you know women are responsible for more domestic violence than men?
I would assume that this was a mutually-abusive relationship. They’re very common. I grew up in one. I understand how easy it is to sterotype, but think outside of the box, ladies! To assume that a woman who was arrested for domestic violence must have simply been protecting herself, even given this end to the situation, is shortsighted.
2:18 pm on May 4th, 2009
Perhaps, but let’s face it, engaging in wild speculation is what we do on the DD!
I see what you’re saying, I really do, and it’s backed up by statistics for sure. But to me, the way this situation ended is rather instructive as to the core source for discord in their relationship.
BTW, aren’t men more likely than women to inflict serious injury or death on their partners? I guess I see female-inititated domestic abuse of consisting mostly of crazy bitches hitting their long-suffering men with spatulas, not “put you in the hospital or morgue” kind of shit. I don’t know the statistics on this, but again, all speculation anyway. We will almost certainly never know in this case as both partners are dead.
2:19 pm on May 4th, 2009
Sounds like a violent relationship. The statistics are correct but still, I would NOT be surprised this mother was trying to protect her children during this last altercation. Maybe he was directing abuse towards the kids, or threatening to do so. Frankly, I am not at all taken by the statistics. I think a lot of woman have said enough and are fighting back. Some of course are just as violent as the male abuser, and just as crazy too.
Anyhow, in this case we have this father killing his children, wife and then himself. That his older son survived is really amazing. Although, knowing what his father did, probably doesn’t feel like living to him right now. He lost his entire family…his baby brothers and mother. My heart goes out to him. I can’t imagine how devastated and alone he must feel right now.
Looking at those pictures, I can see her family adored their grandchildren….my sympathies to the family who I know are anguished in sorrow.
Nathan & Ryan, baby Zach, what precious children. Children seem to always lose in these situations. Broken homes or death.
So sorry sweet ones. Rest in peace Wendy, Ryan and baby Zach.

I don’t care if it was a mutually abusive relationship b/c he pulled the trigger not her. I have lived in mutually abusive households and honestly there is always one person who goes further.
That poor kid, no way can you recover from that. After reading stories about survivors guilt I often wonder which is worse, being the sole survivor or not suffering anymore?

We could sell specialized weapons for the murder-suicide types, advertise it as “Foolproof way to make sure your family/gf/ex/guinea pig goes with you when you off yourself!” but rig the trigger to blow up the person holding the gun. Perhaps add in”Before use, test in open field” so there’s no collateral damage…
Yeah I know its completely unrealistic, but damnit a girl can dream…

I’m not excusing what this asshole did. I’m merely addressing the kind of sexist assumption that she was protecting herself when SHE was arrested for domestic violence.
This man deserves to be dead. I only wish he hadn’t taken others out before-hand.
And, Veronica, you’re absolutely right about men inflicting more serious damage/death, statistically. Escalation is the natural progression of most physical altercations. If a woman hits a man and gets the shit beaten out of her for it, I have a hard time finding sympathy. (Not speaking about this article specifically, just, mutual domestic violence in general.)
Of course, while the mother here certainly didn’t deserve to die, she more than likely contributed to the circumstances that lead to this.
Parents who remain in mutually physically abusive relationships love their children less than those who don’t, I’m pretty sure. My parents included.

I feel so bad for that boy. I felt guilty looking at the myspace page thinking he’s the only survivor that probably could delete it or ask for it to be removed. I hope to God he stays out of trouble and not hurt anybody or himself in the future.

Troy Bellar and his wife Wendy had had some domestic problems in the past, but the couple seemed to have worked things out, Troy’s father said today. Jim Bellar said he last spoke to his son about 8 p.m. last night. Everything seemed normal.
An hour and a half later, Troy Bellar had killed his wife and two of his young children.
[...]
The neighbor called 911. An operator asked whether the boy’s stepmother was still alive.
“She got shot in the head,” 13-year-old Nathan Bellar said.
The teen told deputies that about 9:30 p.m. Sunday there were some words exchanged in the home, but there was nothing loud, Polk Sheriff Grady Judd said.
Then As Wendy Rene Bellar prepared to leave for the evening with the children, the shooting began.
[...]
Deputies were called to the Bellars’ home March 14 to investigate a domestic incident. Troy Bellar told investigators Wendy “beat on him some” and left with a knife, according to the state attorney’s office.
Troy Bellar, who wasn’t injured, told deputies his wife appeared to have been suffering from postpartum depression and was trying to gain his attention “through various actions.”
Deputies said that when they spoke with Wendy Bellar following that incident, she couldn’t explain what happened but said she loved her children and was a good mother. She told deputies she was embarrassed by her actions and didn’t know what she wanted to do with the knife.
Wendy Bellar was charged with battery domestic violence after the incident, Wilder said. A pretrial conference had been scheduled for this Thursday.
