personality Shannon Burke, host of The Shannon Burke Show on Real Radio 104.1 WTKS was either pissed off at his wife’s dog, pissed off at her, or a combination of both last Thursday evening when he picked up a gun and started waving it around, threatening the dog. Well, guess what? He didn’t realize the gun was loaded. Now his wife is in the hospital and her dog may lose a leg.

At some point that evening, Burke grabbed a .40 cailber gun, grabbed the dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, aimed, and BANG! The bullet passed through the dog’s leg and then grazed the head of his 48-year-old wife, Catherine . ‘I was playing with a gun. I didn’t know it was loaded. all right. It just cut her skin and she’s bleeding really bad,’ Burke said in his call to 911. Idiot.
Shannon Burke, 43, does not have a criminal history, but was on probation for a previous alcohol-related reckless driving charge. He is now facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and animal cruelty. Bail was set at $10,000 and Burke will have to wear monitoring device upon release. He has been ordered to have no contact with his wife.

This is why I’m against gun ownership. There are plenty of intelligent and rational people who are perfectly capable of owning guns.. However, allowing those people to own guns means that every stupid, alcoholic, ass hole has a right to bear arms.
You always pretend like the gun is loaded. I don’t care if you literally just ejected the clip and popped the round out of the chamber. You have to respect it to keep shit like this from happening. And it should never happen. This is criminally stupid.
I feel terrible for the dog. His wife was stupid for hanging around when he picked it up (probably after a couple of beers), but the dog couldn’t do anything.

Shannon Burke, you have the perfect face for radio. What an ugly mug on that guy. He looks like a real dick and he acts like one too. He didn’t realize it was loaded? Was that after shooting the dog or after shooting his wife in the head? The aggravated battery charge is crap! You point a gun at someone and they are shot in the head, the charge should be attempted murder. But since he didn’t realize the gun was loaded……….I call BULLCRAP!

Just another “mean drunk”. Some people are really nice and sociable when they are sober… but, after a few drinks, they are just another Shannon Burke. I’ve known a few like that in my lifetime… just stay away from them.

Hmmm, can’t blame the gun. I happen to be a gun owner. Not really by choice, but because I have to. But honestly, blaming the gun? Nah, lets blame the drunk moron for waving around a loaded gun.
You always treat it as if it’s loaded, even if KNOW it’s not. You never wave it around, point it at anyone unless you are planning to shoot. Period.
