Alex Martinez’s Plans Fell Through

Liverpool, New York–By all accounts, Alex and Angela had, what appeared to be, a very loving relationship. The pair had been an item for two or three years and had tied the knot on February 21. They welcomed their first child into the world about six months ago. Alex’s MyspaceMySpaceMySpace is filled with pictures of his wife, child, and pets. What happened in the relationship to make Alex hateful enough to kill Angela?

Last Saturday morning, Alex slammed Angela’s head into a wall and then choked her to death. Left with a dead wife, he needed a plan to get rid of the body. He went out and purchased some garbage bags and a few bags of cement. He wrapped his wife in the garbage bags and got her into the back of his pickup truck, which was filled with ‘a pile of garbage. … baby seats and a cardboard box full of puppies.’ He then loaded his son into the truck and set off on a 220-mile trip to Beacon Reservoir in Dutchess County. He dumped Angela’s body into the water, using the bags of concrete to weigh her down. It didn’t work…she kept floating to the surface.

Alex spent a couple of hours out at the reservoir trying in vain to get that body to sink. When he realized that a floating body would certainly be spotted and all evidence would point to him, he decided to turn himself in. Exhausted, Alex showed up at the Beacon Police Department and informed a desk officer that he had killed his wife. Angela’s body was recovered–little Draven was turned over to his maternal grandparents–the box of puppies was sent to a local shelter–and Alex was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is being held without bail.     Alex pleaded guilty to Angelas murder November 19, was sentenced today to 20 years to life in prison. Also, the Judge granted Little Draven a protection order against Alex, until he turns 18. Angelas parents, the Harris' have custody of Draven.

    I'm glad this case was "fast-tracked" through the system, seems Alex wanted to get it over with, just like he did Angela.
  • I have nothing but sympathy and sadness for Angela; however, Alex is an ass and deserves to be picked apart and poked at.

    We discuss crime here, day in and day out. Tragedies and comedies both. Discussing it and, yes, laughing over it every now and then keeps some of us sane. If some of us didn't laugh, we'd die crying.

    I find it astonishing how judgemental so many people can be when it comes nowhere near their lives. I didn't personally know Angela, but grew up in the same city as she, and have MANY mutual friends, whose hearts are shatterred at this disgusting tragedy. And people comment among things of laziness and pre-meditation, and how they're curious of what has happened between the two prior to the last straw and it makes me sick. Picking on their child's name even, how disconnected and immoral some people keep themselves when it doesn't hit close enough to home. What do you care right? You don't, you've proven that, but why spread that lack of caring on the internet for all who LOVED her and all who MISS her to see and read, for years to come. Why break all their hearts over and over again with your ignorance?

    I don't know that he was trying to get rid of the puppies...judging by all the pics on his Myspace, I would think that he was happy with the litter.

    PS:  I have no plans to commit murder and have never really thought this thru, but I guarantee that I could get rid of a body just from watching tv/reading.  How stupid are these people?

    Couldn't he just have given himself a time out instead of killing his wife. God, this is sad. :(

    This is seriously one of the saddest stories I've read on here. His myspace chokes me up. She had her mood as "blessed" just 6 days ago and he has so many pictures of her and their baby :( RIP Angela! And I hope baby Draven is in good hands now..

    "Ang" is his wife.  She was nicknamed "Ang" for Angela.  Not all mix babies are super dark.  My husband is dark and I am white as the driven snow-our daughter is light skin-more like a caramel color.  She has gotten darker since she was born and I am sure their child would too.  he is only 6 months old...

    There was a domestic incident back in 2007...they haven't released the details of that particular incident, but I'm curious as to what happened between the two.

    Well, nothing quite gets the adrenaline cranked up like a visit to the prison showers, right? Or meeting your new cellmate, "Bonecrusher", who keeps referring to you as his new "Sweet boy".

    I was waiting for the part of the story where you tell us Alex bagged up the baby and the puppies and pitched them into the reservoir, too. Whew... glad the story turned the bend into dark humor/slapstick territory (like a bad Jim Carrey movie).  One death was enough. I'm sure the grandparents are clinging to Draven, grateful he wasn't a victim of Alex's psychotic or schizophrenic breakdown.

    Her MySpace shows she logged in onthe day she died-her mood was Blessed.  This is so bizarre.  His pics are so loving and clearly meant a great deal to him.  She was a beautiful girl-looks like she was very lively and fun loving. 

    Damn, I guess this just goes to show that anyone can snap at anytime.  Even the one person you might think you could trust no matter what.  Fucking crazy.

    God Bless Angela- I hope Draven is raised knowing what a wonderful mother he had.

    Ugh...I know. Hundreds of pictures of a happy couple. I think authorities are aware of his motive, but they aren't giving anything up. They are now  searching the home, his computer, and cell phone records trying to make sense of it all.
