Would you love someone who brutally beat you all of your life? I doubt it, I wouldn’t. And no one said he shouldn’t be in a secure place. YOU are talking about a kid who stabbed someone repeatedly. I am talking about the kid I knew him to be before you knew he existed, he’s still the same kid, a kid you will never really know.Thats sad, that you’re so quick to judge, but that’s life and it’s not going to change. Or maybe it will, I doubt it, but, life is full of suprises.

You are unable to substantiate that he was brutally beaten all his life. If that was the case, why didn’t anyone in his life step in? Sure, it happens, but at that point, I have to start wondering about all the people who sat around aware of this abuse while twirling on their thumbs. As it stands currently, however, there is no record of such abuse… so how can you blame any of us for discounting that accusation?

Regardless, millions of people have been beaten by parents only to emerge productive citizens. He made a different choice and, whatever mechanism drove him to that decision is the mechanism that qualifies him for incarceration.

What seems to be lost on you is that humans are incredibly multi-faceted. William was both the kid you knew him to be AND the kid capable of savagely killing his mother and hanging out with her dead body in the house… at the same time. The two are not mutually exclusive, like you seem to want to suggest.

Everyone seems like a good person until they get the opportunity to do something terrible. It’s what we do with that opportunity that really defines us.

That said, so long as we all agree that he needs to reside in a secure facility, there’s no real argument, here.

It’s called “evidence”. FACT: Properly functioning, empathetic human beings do not do what this kid did. No amount of alleged abuse in his background changes that fact.

Lots of kids are beaten, and they do not kill their mothers and then play casually play fucking video games with the body still in the house.  Like Athena said, that is just the type of unstable person who does not need to be on the streets — ever.

 Maybe the abuse triggered William to act out on his violent tendencies.  Maybe the abuse was just a convenient excuse for a remorseless killer to do the deed, knowing his stupid little friends will soon be standing up for him and insisting until they are blue in the face that he is actually a really sweet, nice kind of murderer.  I wouldn’t be surprised if his reaction to seeing you here defending him was to laugh his fucking ass off at what a easily fooled lemming you are.
