Victoria Stafford Is Still Missing

April 22, 2009 by Morbid

WOODSTOCK, Ontario – Victoria Stafford is an 8-year-old girl who has not been seen since April 8th. The last anyone saw of her was on surveillance video. It showed Tori walking from her elementary school with an unidentified woman believed to be 19 to 25 years old dressed in a puffy white coat and black jeans  after students were let out of class last Wednesday. While her mother is on television pleading for her daughter’s safe return, she is also questioning why it took  until the 17th for police to label this an abduction instead of a missing person, and why the OPP was not brought in faster.

In fact, the OPP didn’t take over the local police force investigation until 9 days after her disappearance. Since then, OPP divers searched a pond in Southside Park, near where Tori was last seen, as well as Pittock Lake. Today they searched the Oxford County landfill, without cadaver dogs.  Searches by police from several area forces, a helicopter, search and rescue volunteers and hundreds of city residents have failed to turn up any sign of the child.

I’m hoping that guilt just eats them. I hope that they see the pain and the agony that they care causing my family… I hope that they feel guilty and they just let her go,” Victoria’s mother, Tara McDonald told reporters during a front yard press conference. “Go away, drop her off in a remote place and go so you don’t get in any trouble. I think that’s awful to say as a Mom myself because what if they do it again? But if that’s what gets my daughter back and they figure out later on who it was from my daughter, then fine.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or Oxford police at 519-537-2323. I know that in cases like this that there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than what is given to the press or public, but man that seems like an awfully long time to go without shifting gears from just missing to abducted. The story should say April 8th, not August,

I hope that poor girl turns up!

Wow.  Seems she must have known or trusted this woman.  She is following her willingly – not being dragged or coerced physically in any way.
Shoddy police work here, at best.  She is EIGHT for cripes sake!  Since when does an 8 year old NOT warrant a full investigation as an abduction??

I pray they find her safe.  It’s so unlikely after so much time has passed – but a miracle would be nice right about now.
Stay strong mom.  Never give up hope!

I could see if she was a teenager and maybe they waited a couple of days, but 8 come on….even if she did run away how street smart is she going to be.  I hope the family can get some closure.

Lots of info on the family. The public and press brought up a lot of unsavory information on them. Police may have been hindered by that, and the fact that the video shows the girl going willingly. There is also the fact that there is a lot of info that the police know that we do not.

But the fact that they did eventually bring in the OPP almost has you thinking that the local police were going one route that ended up a dead end. Either way, if this girl turns up dead, I am sure the Oxford police will be facing some tough questions.

The father of eight-year-old Victoria Stafford, an Ontario girl who vanished more than two weeks ago after school, believes he knows the person in a composite sketch of a woman caught on surveillance video.
Rodney Stafford said Wednesday morning the woman last seen with his abducted daughter looks like someone he knew “years back” in high school.
“There’s a lot of similarities in the eyes, cheeks and face to someone a lot of people know,” said Stafford.
“If anybody out there notices what I noticed in the photo there are going to be a lot of phone calls coming into the (police) station today.” http://www.canada.com/News/Tori+have…226/story.html

“There’s a lot of similarities in the eyes, cheeks and face to someone a lot of people know,” said Stafford.

Well, that’s sort of the problem with police sketches.

I remember when the West Seattle rapist was terrorizing my neighborhood. The sketch was televised on every station daily until he was caught. Turns out, he was a man staying with my next door neighbors – a man I saw and even talked to daily. I didn’t associate the sketch with the dude, nor did Mike or my sister or the guys he was staying with. But one of their girlfriends recognized him and called police. Everyone was amazed that she recognized him from that sketch.

These stories always creep me out, a little. A kid caught on tape willingly walking into oblivion with god-knows-who…

    I hope she’s found safe.

Whenever I think of police sketches, I am ALWAYS reminded of the newscaster rape story. Gets a laugh out of me every time.

ok…  that sketch looks like the mom…  Obviously the witness would have known it was her mom, but damn…  also the video of the mom and dad they look so calm. Hopefully I will never know, but I can’t imagine being that calm when my daughter went missing.

At the end of the survelliance video, Tori is lagging behind quite a bit, was there a vehicle parked just outside the range of the camera??? I hope they monitored the whole thing, because the vehicle, depending on if this is a one way street, should’ve passed in front of  the camera! Hopefully that is info the OPP has and just aren’t releasing until they locate said vehicle…..
The person that Tori and unknown passed directly in front of, should be able to give an exact description of  unknown, hopefully they looked directly at unknown!
Praying for Victoria!! God, bring her home safe and sound, Amen!!

This girl lives about 2 hours from me. In the facebook group, there was someone claiming to be a journalist, who had inside information and she stated that there was going to be a big announcement in the news soon. (Although so far I haven’t heard anything)

She also said the little tidbits of info she was hearing was “disgusting”.

I pray this little girl is returned to her family safe.

    ARRESTS MADE!
A man has been charged with murder and a woman has been charged with being an accessory after the fact in connection with the case of missing Woodstock, Ont. girl Victoria “Tori” Stafford.

Police believe Victoria was abducted for “sexual purposes,” Sgambati told CTV’s Canada AM in an interview from Woodstock.

Investigators are now looking for the child’s body near Guelph, Ont., with the help of the female suspect, she said.

“This was an opportunistic crime, described to me by sources as a worst-case scenario,” Sgambati said. “Police are looking for Tori’s body as we speak outside of this jurisdiction.”

Although the suspects know Victoria’s parents, police don’t believe they knew who their daughter was at the time she was kidnapped, Sgambati said.

Michael Thomas C.S. Rafferty, 28, and Terri-Lynne McClintic, 18, are both facing charges in connection with the case.
