Thomas Destories and Doug Georgianni

Phoenix, Arizona – Talk about a senseless death. Douglas Georgianni, 51, was working in a marked speed trap van on SundaySunday reviewsSunday reviews night when someone pulled up alongside him and opened fire, hitting Douglas and killing him. Douglas was on his cell phone with his wife at the time. After receiving eyewitness accounts plus the tape from the van, police have now arrested and named the suspect in the shooting, Thomas Destories, 68.

DPS Director Roger Vanderpool described the shooting as “senseless.” He added, “This ridiculous act has taken the life of an employee performing not only their assigned duties but specifically performing a function that has proven to save motorists lives through the photo enforcement program.” No motive has been released as of yet. Douglas had only been working the job for 3 months.

Not that I would be surprised if this was just a random act, but it just seems like this was a bit personal, dontcha think? Wouldn’t be too surprised if it comes to light that these two knew each other.

Sounds either personal against Douglas or using extreme measures to protest speed traps!  Holy shit!

Hope more info comes out soon.

Yeah, this doesn’t sound random at all.  There has to be more to the story.

Either way, it was a totally pussy way to kill someone.  He took an (I’m assuming) unarmed man by surprise from the safety of his vehicle and then drove off.  Lame.

maybe he was pissed cuz he got a ticket through one of the speed traps?

I couldn’t imagine being his wife and being on the phone while he was being murdered.  To hear the whole thing would probably send me over the edge.  Sad and senseless!

I CAN’t Believe the detectives let him keep his cell phone in a holding cell–I can only think that they haven’t officially placed him under “arrest” and don’t want to deprive him of his communication (he might say something while in “custody”, on record, that will help their case!)
I think he can be held “on suspiscion” for some length of time prior to an actual arrest and charges being made.

Damn!  What a horrible way to end a conversation with your husband.  Handsome man with a great smile.  I am sure he will be missed!

I was thinking the same thing and wondering what I would do, besides the obvious I mean. Will probably take a very long time for that memory to fade, if ever.

Wherefore on August 20, 2009 the above mentioned within the County of Maricopa, State of Arizona, did, then and there, commit the following:
    Speeding, $90 plus court costs.

    Ok here goes.
One part of me says ha! Fuck those speed traps. I have been busted by them and it is bullshit. If they want to play around with revenue and tickets, then put up a sign saying speed trap camera And use it. Every one knows and everyone obeys or they pay. None of this cloak and dagger shit.  I almost don’t feel sorry for the system getting wacked just the dude inside. Even then he was on his cell jacking to his wife when he should have been working.

    Yosemite Sam LOL athena.,

I occasionally go this route if I have to work in downtown, and generally they always warn you when the speed trap van is coming up. They have these huge yellow ”now entering/exiting photo enforcement zone” flags on the side of the road.

As for the shooting: absolutely senseless, cowardly, and overall Bitch-Assness from yosemite.

And who cares, I talk on the phone all the live long day if i’m bored at work…

    RIP Doug

I can assure you that this evil man and my loving and wonderful husband Doug did not know one another.  I was not talking to him at the time he was murdered.  I had called him moments earlier to check up on him and tell him I loved him.  Five minutes later he called me back and said “Honey, call 911 I’ve been shot.”.  At that moment my life stopped.  This was a senseless crime perpetrated by a wicked man.  Doug positively touched the lives of so very many people.  You can go to legacy.com if you want to find out more about Doug and the person that he was.  I beg people to be sensitive to what they post on these sites.  The pain and agony for me and the rest of the family is already beyond bearable. Thank you.

    malq:

So you have been busted for speeding and that pisses you off so much (how dare they catch you doing something illegal!) that you leave this incredibly flippant remark about an event that any decent person would see as a terrible tragedy, period.  Who gives a shit if you were busted by a speed trap?  That has what, exactly, to do with this senseless murder?

“Yeah, it’s awesome that Yosemite Sam “wacked” the system, too bad about the dude who was murdered in the process but he was just jacking off in the van anyway and should have been doing his job, even though I have no goddamn idea what the hell I’m talking about which nonetheless doesn’t stop me from inexplicably bashing the innocent guy who was murdered perhaps to make myself feel less guilty for the fact that I’m actually kind of giddy that this happened because I once got caught for speeding and it was total bullshit.”

jgeorgianni, I am so sorry for your loss.  I hope this stupid asshole is convicted of first-degree murder.
