The mother should be judged more harshly than the boyfriend. It was her responsibility to protect her daughter from pedophiles, not bring one into the home and help him take her daughter’s innocence. I too, caught the feeling that he was more than just a pawn in the mother’s sick plan. I applaud the girl on doing the right thing until someone listened, and am happy she was unharmed. Isn’t persistence supposed to be a virtue. Thank god for a 13 year old’s persistence. This time it saved her life. Hopefully this will open her fathers eyes and ears and he will listen to her next time she tells him something so serious

Times are changing and more and more children are falling prey to the social norms which oft times put vulnerable children at risk. Social Services should be alerted whenever this occurs; the children should the ones asked questions instead of the parents.
As a mother, I’d walk through fire for any of my kids; and when it comes to the safety of any other child, I’m willing to fight tooth&nail for them because all little kids should have somebody looking out for them. That is why we make laws in the first place, to give rights to those who have no voice.

Now THIS – or something similar, I can get behind. Put the onus on the parent to prove themselves. And, if a *non biological person* ever is found to have abused a child – 1 strike – you’re out. Hell, I might even get behind that one for *biological* parents, depending on the severity of the abuse.

He’s a cop and maybe even could have covered it up, but even if he wasn’t, he would still do it, because I am the most important person in the world to him. I can totally relate to this. Some guy made the mistake of asking my sister directions to someone’s house in our neighborhood (she was very young at the time and was walking home). She got freaked out and came straight home and told my Dad. He got in his truck and ran the guy off the road to find out why in hell he would stop and ask a 10 year old for directions. Turns out he really was just trying to find the house of a friend of his (my dad told him where the house was). I guarantee you that boy never again asked a child for directions. Needless to say, I was never in doubt about what my Father would do if anyone ever attempted anything inappropriate with me. He always made it very clear that he would kill anyone who ever messed with us. He also (as a fine upstanding christian man) said that he would fess up and take whatever punishment would come as a result.
Of course the flip side of this is: I never would have told my Dad first if someone tried anything with me. I was too afraid he would end up going to jail for the rest of his life. But I have never doubted his love and commitment to me.

As a single mother of 3 kids, I can’t completely agree with this. Let me clarify that I have only been a single mom for 8 months, but have not dated anyone at all, and wouldn’t dream of bringing a new man into my kid’s life yet (let alone into my home). But this, while being a completely responsible choice, would just force single moms to get married when they “think” they are ready to move the new man in. And in turn, make things possibly worse.

A Fayette County girl testified about her mother’s alleged plot to get her pregnant by a boyfriend because the mother has been unable to have children of her own.
The mother — who is not being identified to protect the child — waived her preliminary hearing Tuesday, saying she did not want to force her daughter to testify against her. But the 13-year-old still had to take the witness stand against the other suspect, Duane Calloway.
