Dallas, TX–Veronica Ortiz needs to work on her parenting skills. I know the Parenting For Dummies manual doesn’t actually spell out, word-for-word, that leaving your young children home alone is a bad idea, but it shouldn’t have to. Or should it?
Veronica’s two boys, ages 2 and 3, were found wandering around an apartment complex, barefoot and filthy, at 10:00 p.m. SundaySunday reviews
night. When officers figured out where the children lived, they were greeted with another surprise.
Officers and apartment security scoured the complex, trying to locate the boys’ home. Finally, they came across an apartment with the door standing wide open. When officers entered the apartment, they found yet another child. The 1-year-old child was sleeping next to a pit bull. There were no adults in the apartment. The apartment was littered with trash, feces, and food. Is it just me, or is there some kind of strange connection between child abandonment and feces littered homes?
Through the leasing manager, officers were able to obtain a phone number for Veronica and placed a call to her at 1:00 a.m. Veronica told the officers that she had to work a late shift at a bar and couldn’t find a sitter. Her shift was to end around 2:00 a.m. Funny, Veronica’s mother says her daughter doesn’t have a job.
Police were called to the apartment the previous FridayFriday reviews
on a domestic disturbance between Veronica and her live-in boyfriend. So, we actually have two grown adults who can’t be bothered with house-cleaning or children. Nice.
Veronica Ortiz, 21, doesn’t have to worry about a sitter for awhile. She was arrested and charged with three counts of child abandonment. AnimalAnimal reviews control picked up the dog and the three children were placed with relatives.

This story.. wow! My heart breaks for children in these situations. Makes you wonder how long they have been dealing with these circumstances. Poor children….
So my next question.. where was the grandma? She claims her daughter didnt have a job so she is obviously in the picture. Did she know this shit was going on? How far away does she live?
I live in an apartment complex… and my neighbors seem to know anything and everything that does on around there.. did anyone have suspicions? Was this the first time? Was this a boiling point for one of them? did none of them see the children walking around that night? Who called security and 911? Did any of them try to help? Idk, maybe Im over-reacting but if I saw a 2 and /or 3 year old walking around and didnt see an adult shortly there after…. Id go check out the scenario. (head nods) Anyway…..
Well im glad shes been taken care of and very glad to hear the children are in better hands. I hope they never see their mother again (which is a sad wish for a child) but its true. I guess Id be interested in hearing more about the baby’s daddy too.. where was he and whats his deal?

OMG, I’m sorry but her children come first 1, 2 and 3 yr. old left alone how the fuck did she think they were going to care for themselves. Plus, who’s to say the pitbull couldn’t turn on any of those kids at any minute, you never know about any animals behavior. What the hell was she thinking. I’m just stunned, and as for the condition of the apt. was in Ewwww that’s just fucking gross she needs to get off her ass and clean it. She doesn’t deserve to have these kids they need to be in a home with people who are going to care for them properly and meet all there needs and most of all give them the love they DESERVE!

This kind shit keep me up at night. You know a lot of children go unsupervised and are left basically to fend for themselves. Christ, the oldest child in this case is 3 years old.
Just breaks my heart. I am so glad these children were found by a concerned citizen and not some pedo. I must admit, although I don’t care for the pit bull breed, this one was doing a better job watching out for the wee one than this stupid skank.
Close your legs woman, get your hooch permanently corked, you are NOT capable of being a real mother to these children, so just give it up.
I seriously hope these little ones are in good hands with relatives.

Any dog if it becomes agitated, neglected and/or hungry could likely strike out against a child in frustration. If the kids were left alone for all those hours, you know they (and the dog) must have been very very hungry.
Birth control has been around about as long as I have… yeah, a lot of years. If you realize you can’t take care of kids in your lifestyle, don’t have kids! It is really as simple as that. I don’t own a boat because my lifestyle doesn’t ALLOW for it for many reasons. Why do people neglect the responsibility to make realistic choices? Bringing another human being into your life only to neglect them is STUPID to the umteenth degree.

Apparently she can work somewhere like this getting tips (unreported, i’m sure!) she can still get welfare on these 3 little blessings that she sees as income. She’s not responsible enough to keep her legs shut, but boy did she figure out that she can make a living off stripping and birthing little welfare checks.
Nasty bitch needs to get more tips to pay for a damn sitter and housekeeper.

Yeah, so many see children as an easy pay check, fuckn’ waste of space. I’m glad as hell they took the dog and children, she doesn’t deserve neither of them. But you know she will likely get them back, and for now, the relatives the children are with, doesn’t mean they are better off there.

Silvahalo, I think about the exact same thing as I am laying my 4 year old to bed. I always think of all those children that instead of being put to bed in a warm loving home, are perhaps enduring some sick shit at the same time I am loving my baby…It’s so sad, and it continues to happen…

Damn. That’s drastic. Although we don’t know for sure that this woman was on welfare, that’s still a great tidbit.
I’d like to see it controlled for income, though. Poor people in general have less availability to education, birth control and abortion. I wonder what the difference is between women of comparable income who don’t receive welfare and those who do? I mean, it’s really quite possible that welfare is encouraging welfare collectors to have more children. That’s no good.

I don’t understand why people keep having kids when they can’t be bothered with them. Do they expect a medal for simply bringing a life into the world? If you can’t provide a decent life, you’re not doing anything laudable.

NOT IN MY STATE!! In the fine state of NJ you get the VERY BEST medical benefits, including Tylenol with a doctors note and any kind of birth control, depo shots, the pill, iud and I wouldn’t be surprised if they can come up with a medical reason for an abortion (D and E). And the education part? BUZZ. My family is living in ONE income (my husbands) while I go back to school. What do I get? a shit load of LOANS at only 8 percent interest!!! yay! Now if I was on welfare (or unemployement) I’d have no cost top notch insurance as described above, an education that if it takes me 10 years to complete, it’s fine, as long as I am enrolled. Free books. The state gives the college “x” amount of dollars for classes, books, as a matter of fact anything in the college store (cd players, portable DVD players, clothes.. Not to mention and not included, free daycare, a bus pass or dollar a day car insurance. The best part is, when my courses and books are paid for I get something called a stipend check and I keep the rest (well over a thousand dollars every semester CASH). Now if I am start enough, I start the classes and drop them while I can get half of “my” money back and of couse I can’t forget to sell the books back for cash !!!!!
So although I am smart enough to go to college, apparently I am not smart enough to say my baby daddies are unknown and let the free ride begin!!!
grrr sorry to vent, but the whole “poor people do not have access to a proper education” is pure BULLSH*T!! They have more access than I do, who thankfully never had to rely on public assistance… Which 12,000 (and half way done) later, is not looking so bad. What’s a little pride?

YAY- Uvgottabkiddin! It took me 10 years just to get my Associates! I struggled, held 3 jobs at times, got the Pell grant while I could, went part time while I worked full time–MADE TOO MUCH MONEY WORKING FULL TIME so I couldn’t get the Pell Grant the next year when I get divorced and HAD NOTHING…you CAN DO IT!!! I thank God that I only had to take out a small student loan toward the end!
Thank GOD that I was SMART ENOUGH to use the health departments in FL and GA for any kind of female exams, birth control, whatever… These people know it is there- they just KNOW that they can make more money having the kids. Hell- The health departments are where they end up taking the kid for all it’s shots and well-checks- rather than a regular family doctor.
Even most Doctors accept Medicaid now, so they have complete access to the SAME HEALTHCARE I do, only I have to shell out for actual insurance thru my employer around $120 a month and then have the PRIVILEGE to pay co-pays when I do go…
I just don’t have much sympathy for people who are poor that are actually using the “system”. With EBT, Medicaid, Health departments, and welfare or unemployment, or sometimes disability checks coming for the rest of their lives, they have expendable money for things that I don’t.
I know WAYYYY too many people getting disability because a parent passed away, or because they were diagnosed with ADD as a child and now supposedly can’t work that sit home and make kids and spend all their actual money on cigarettes and internet. Not the kids, not clothes for the kids, not food…
People that take in relatives just because they are getting a check, and can get the tax deduction for that person living with them all year as well as any tax breaks for any caregiver they hire.
Not AT ALL to say that disability is a bad thing, if used properly, BUT I sometimes feel like you are Damned if you work and Damned if you don’t.
These “poor” people have more access to education, birth control, and financial resources than the rest of us- That may be why those of us who have never HAD to turn to those resources don’t realize how many of them there are!

THANK YOU SO MUCH Jen. With what is happening in the world today, I know that I am lucky, however I still feel like I have to pay for my education and theirs, actually I don’t mind the education part, but give them a certain amount of time and the stipend check HAS TO STOP! Regardless I have no pity for Veronica, she should have asked her mom to babysit while she waxed the pole.
