Phillip Holmes
Melrose, NM–On March 5, police were called to the emergency room at Plains Regional Medical Center in regards to a 3-month-old baby girl. The child was suffering, among other injuries, broken arms and skull fractures.
The officer approached the child’s family in the waiting room. While questioning the family about the injuries, Phillip Holmes’ young son said he knew how the baby got hurt…‘Dad chokes the baby.’ A family member shushed the child before he could say anymore and told the officer he couldn’t use the boy’s statement because he was an ‘unreliable source.’
The baby was transported to the hospital earlier that day after her mother called 911. The mother stated that she was trying to feed the baby, but became worried when the child wouldn’t hold her own bottle and she cried when her arms were touched.
The child had two broken arms, skull fractures, bleeding beneath the scalp, and broken ribs that had been in the process of healing for about three weeks. A doctor told the officer that based on X-rays, the only possible explanation was that the child’s arms had been grabbed ‘with a lot of force’ and ‘torqued’ until they broke. She also found evidence that indicated the baby was grabbed by the neck, causing the neck bones to stretch.
After Holmes’ son volunteered that little tid-bit, Holmes was questioned further…and boy, did he have a story to tell! First, he told officers that the baby fell off a bed and was mauled by a dog. Of course, there was no evidence the child had been mauled. So, he came up with another tale; he was in the kitchen holding the baby and he accidentally dropped her. Uh-huh. He told police several times that it was an accident, he didn’t mean to hurt the baby.
Phillip Holmes, 25, was arrested and charged with child abuse resulting in great bodily harm, a first-degree felony. His bond has been set at $25,000.
As for the little boy who spoke up…I would be concerned for his safety. I certainly hope someone is keeping a close eye on him.

Wow my main concern now is the child who spoke up , keep us informed and I only hope the cops and investigators worry about that also, for PHILLIP rot in hell you sick fuckin bastard from hell maybe you will get broken limbs and lay there in pain and agony for the mom leave PHIlLLIP and take your son and get OUT of the situation soon and hopefully your little one in the hospital will recover fully , who knows? and if the mom knew of this situation regarding phillip and the three month old little girl then damn shame on her and lock her ass up also

Phillip Holmes, you are a first-class loser. You suck and shouldn’t be allowed around children ever again. I wish you could be locked away for a very long time but I have seen how easy our judicial system is on abusive parents and that may be too much to hope for. So, I like to believe that some day you will get the ass-kicking you deserve that leaves you with 2 broken arms, skull fracture, etc. And if they could only finish you off with a bullet betweent he eyes like Lavonna suggested we would all be ever so grateful.
(On a side note, he’s 25?! He doesn’t look a day younger than 45.)

I was twenty one when I got pregnant with my daughter, I was past the stage in my life of going out and partying, I was in a stable marriage, and was financially stable. What part of that, is too young to have a child? Please tell me. Just because someone is young, doesn’t mean they aren’t suitable parents.

I think some people just do the easy thing and take out their frustrations on someone who can’t fight back. These are the same people who will blame the child for the abuse. “The baby *MADE* me do it… It just wouldn’t stop crying! Why can’t it just listen???”
I really hope that he’s not allowed near his children again. And whomever shushed that little boy really needs to be kept away from children as well. That’s enabler behavior right there, and he may also be in danger.

I agree that baby has such sad eyes.
But I had my children at 17, 19, and 25. Yes that was very young and I by no means recommend that course in life to anyone (especially my own children), but not everyone who has children at a young age keeps on making bad decisions. My kids are loved completely, raised to be responsible, hard-working, open-minded, confident little people. I am a great mom, I have no doubts about that cause I work hard enough at it!!! Age doesn’t have anything to do with this asshat’s situation. Personally, I think a guy like this, whether he was 25 or 45 when these kids were born- he is lacking the restraint and fatherly instincts necessary to walk away when a crying baby is too much or just comfort her even if you kinda want to cry yourself from exhaustion and stress.
KUDOS TO THE SISTER!!! She not only DIDN”T defend him, she called him out for all the world to see what he is.
Hope that beautiful little girl is okay and is smiling in the future, and that little boy is okay — he is brave to say that even if he didn’t completely know what he was doing. Looks like he has more of his auntie in him than his daddy.

I don’t see how deciding to have kids at a young age is a bad decision. Or should be considered automatically as such. It’s a decision that some people make. Some people get put into a bad situation and try to make the best out of it. But some people do know what their getting into, and don’t regret that decision.
That being said, I really don’t think that age is the problem in this case. This guy is just a jackass. As others have said, he’d still be a jackass at ANY age. Hopefully he will take this as a sign that he should stop procreating.
And big time kudos to his sister. It’s nice to see that some people have their priorities straight.

Good point. This makes me want to clarify what I said. I know people who DECIDED to have kids at a young age and are WONDERFUL parents. As for my situation, getting pregnant the first two times was not planned, and was the RESULT of bad decisions (namely who their fathers were, two total jackasses). I never for ONE MOMENT regretted having and keeping my two oldest girls.
This guy is just a jackass and his picture scares me. Drug habit? Maybe. He looks a little junkied out.

You know, it’s been my experience that children that age are pretty reliable, in that they will tell the truth, at the moment that is most inconvenient for you. Now, as to who actually colored on the wall, well, that’s another story.
Glad the cops listened to the kid. Whoever tried to shut him up, definitely needs to be looked into.

Well, the fact is, young people’s brains are not fully developed. They are far more prone to impulsive behavior, which is not *ideal* for parents. Combine that with the lack of life experience, and making the decision to have a child particularly young is to intentially have a child under less-than-ideal circumstances. But 25 is roughly the age when your brain is done developing, so his comment about 25 being “too young” isn’t even based on science. I might agree with him if he had cited a significantly younger age.
Of course, the flip side to that coin is that you actually put a child at more risk for congenital anomalies if you wait much past 32 to procreate.
Ultimately, as has been said, here – this guy is simply not parent material. He would have been a sadistic son of a bitch with self-control issues and a small penis 5 years from now, too.
