Jasmine Stanley

Jasmine Stanley

Lake Charles, LA- If you’re guessing that the nasty little tart pictured above is probably going to piss you off today, then you would be correct, although, I predict you will be even more outraged when you learn all the bullshit details behind this little bitch’s case. Have a Happy WTF Wednesday!

On February 5, 2009, Jasmine Stanley, 22, took her 18-month-old daughter into a Lake Charles hospital. She claimed the little girl fell from a play house in the backyard. After examining the unconscious baby, the doctors determined she was suffering from massive head trauma. The child had a fractured skull with numerous hematomas, bruising, and scratches to her throat. The 18-month-old was airlifted to a New Orleans hospital. Authorities were notified and Jasmine Stanley was arrested for cruelty to a juvenile.

After Stanley’s arrest, the authorities decided to investigate the welfare of her other children. On February 26, 2009, a long bone scan was performed on all of four of her children. The results revealed that her 8-month-old son’s forearm was already in the healing process from a fracture that was non-accidental in nature. If you think the previous information was upsetting, the rest of this article is really going to flip your wig.

This is not the first time Jasmine Stanley was arrested for cruelty to a juvenile. In August of 2007, Stanley took the same baby girl as stated above, who was 2 months old at the time, to the hospital. She claimed the child was injured when she was carrying her and, oopsies, tripped over the baby girl’s twin brother. You know how those pesky two-month-olds are always crawling around everywhere and getting under your feet. Right?

The baby girl suffered from a skull fracture to the right side of her head and was airlifted to a New Orleans hospital. It was also determined the baby girl sustained multiple rib fractures, and a broken left big toe. After a bone scan was conducted on her siblings, it was revealed the baby girl’s twin brother also sustained fractures to his ribs. It was hard for me to read this without hearing the painful cries of those babies in my head.

In September 2007, Jasmine Stanley was charged with 2nd degree cruelty to a juvenile for abuse to her 18 month old twin boy and girl. At that time, Stanley faced five counts of 2nd degree cruelty to a juvenile and those counts are still pending. All of her children were placed into state custody. The 8 month old baby she has now has been in Stanley’s care since birth which was after the Office of Community Services removed the three older siblings from her home in 2007. Stanley’s twins were in state custody from 2007 until the OCS, a branch of the Department of Social Services, recommended that they be returned to her in December 2008. Stanley’s oldest child was placed back in her custody last month. (Feel free to insert as many WTFs as needed here.)

District Attorney John DeRosier says his office tried to slow down the state office’s efforts to return the children to Stanley. “My ADA (assistant district attorney) told them, ’Look, we have a problem here.’ They were still bound and determined to reunite momma with these children. It was their strong recommendation. Look at what happened, and this is not the first time.”

The Louisiana Department of Social Services has not released its findings concerning handling of the Jasmine Stanley case, but the agency has announced steps to ensure the safety of children in the Calcasieu area. First they plan to bring in national experts to provide training and instruction to staff at the local Office of Community Services which is part of the Department of Social Services. The training and instruction will include mentoring, meeting with community partners and giving caseworkers updated technology to make documenting cases easier.

Officials say following Hurricane Rita the agency has faced high turnover and employees with a year or less of experience. Officials say the new initiative will focus on safety, risk, assessment of family functioning and case planning. As well there are plans to review current child protective cases and prioritize them and help OCS staff with ongoing cases.

Jasmine Stanley is now charged with 7 counts of 2nd degree cruelty to a juvenile. Her bond which was originally set at $200,000 in early February has now been raised to $700,000. Her eighteen month old daughter remains hospitalized in New Orleans but it is believed her condition is improving. Heal fast and well, little one.

District Attorney John DeRosier says the case will be presented to a grand jury. He also says the pending case and new allegations will probably be combined into one case.

Thanks to Unamused Cat and Tazzzz who have this covered in the forums.

Hang her and the caseworkers involved. The children never should have been returned when there were so many charges pending. If, after the case is resolved and she is aquitted, then return them. BUT NOT WHEN THE FACTS HAVE NOT BEEN RULED UPON.

This is the same BS at the top ass covering, get me my BONUS while I don’t do shit
the ADA told them, they didn’t care, doesn’t seem to be a training or learning issue, more of a mismanagement from the top on down as usual. It starts at the top folks, top administrators are not held responsible and that’s the problem

Tie this bitches tubes. Apparently she doesn’t want children, she wants punching bags.
And her caseworkers need to be charged for giving these beautiful babies back to the woman who continued to abuse them

What training do they need in social services? How to listen when an ADA says “do not return these children to their abusive mother?” Do they have courses on how to recognize the obvious? It’s always the same with them. Excuse, after excuse, after fucking excuse. As for the mother, she should be sterilized. WTF did she bother having these children for? A welfare check? People piss and moan about abortion and how it’s so wrong, but then people like this have kids and make their lives a living hell.

Actually, this is what is called a corrective action plan – restructuring and training. I would imagine some discipline will be involved. Not that I’m making excuses for the CPS as, I agree, senior management rarely feels the consequences for these things, it’s also important to note that nothing about the CPS business is easy. Balancing a child’s safety with a parent’s civil rights is a tight rope to walk. Clearly, there were some unbelieveably huge oversights made, here. These things happen when there’s a lack of training, a lack of funding and a high rate of turnover, but in other industries, it doesn’t result in the abuse of a child. We can only hope that the measures they take will correct the gaping holes in their process.

Way to go OCS, but I don’t think they are all to blame. What about the other familiy in this bitches life???? Obviously they had to of known she had children taken away from her already. If it were me I would be all up in her business watching the newest “victim”. I just can’t believe they were returned to her. This bitch has some issues and I don’t think they are ever going to change. Dumb ass whore! I hope that little girl can recover and the rest of the children are able to recover mentally as well.

Screw-up, blame & fire lowly manager, top administrators not held accountable. Gee! that’s terrible, let’s all do touchy feely classes see I took action, I’m responsible and I’ll fire a low level manager again next time it happens and make everyone take more touchy feely classes because I’m a friend of a congressman and untouchable.

See? Another one of the devils kids was allowed to reproduce.

What I don’t get is why have them? Having to take birth control is a THOUSAND times easier than caring for children. And I can understand having a OOPS! baby if your careless (and/or too drunk to get the condom on correctly) But these asshats always have two or more. That’s the biggest WTF? for me. Why bother with them? Why keep them? So many people have all the patience and love in the world for these kids but lack the reproductive capabilities.

Also, pregnancy, labor and delivery is just to much to go throw for something I’m not going to cherish for ever. TOO FUCKING MUCH. My body is altered for freakin ever. I’ll be damned if I don’t appreciate the gem that came out of all that.

Totally agree. As a foster parent, I see it all the time. I have a Treatment Meeting today, in fact. We discuss progress of the case as well as progress of the parents through their various parenting, d&a abuse, anger mgmt, and other courses they might be required to take. It’s a long and sometimes frustrating process BECAUSE the parents, in most cases, are only required to meet the MINUMUM PARENTAL ABILITIES. Their “going to the course and sitting there for 4hrs a day” doesn’t mean they learned anything, but as long as they do it, DHS’ hands are tied and the kids go back. Sucks, BUT THAT IS THE REALITY.

Biteme – Have you ever worked for any sort of corporation before? Because that’s how it works. It’s just like amputation. First, the people immediately involved in the case get fired, assuming they’re found negligent. If that fails to stop the mishandling of cases, their boss goes. Only if there’s evidence of consistent and pervasive mismanagement do top officials go. That’s how it is SUPPOSED to work.

    Agree completely.
What’s unfortunate is that while ‘trying to walk the fine line’ between parent and child, sometimes the best interests of the child is overlooked.

Were there no grandparents, aunts/uncles…was there NO ONE else around who saw or didn’t see what was happening?! Yes, I have and I’ve been asked to blame and fire someone (my choice) and go about business as usual, because the person responsible had been hired by a senior VP and firing the idiot would make the VP look bad. Top management always cushions itself with multiple layers of employees, blame never reaches them, but always take credit for positive events, because when it’s good it starts at the top.
    LOL
I always vent about CPS or whatever they call themselves, because I feel they do a lousy overall job, and it starts at the top. If those at the bottom aren’t trained properly, the one at the top is responsible.
If this was a corporation chances are mistakes wouldn’t be repeated over and over without heads at some point falling at the top. Although the current economy/market may be proving me wrong.

its not that hard to have babies so close together.. when i was born, my sister was only 11 months old.. my dad wanted me and my sister to be really close in age so he got my mom pregnant about 7 weeks after she had my sister.

so she had to get pregnant right at the 6 week mark, and the baby was probably early too.

What a pathetic excuse for a human being and mother… My hope is that she gets her due daily in prison as they learn she is a baby beater; beat mercilessly sounds fitting.

The worse part is that this child and her other children should have never been subject to such terrible abuse and neglect for so long. DCF failed miserable and real change is needed before more children fall through the crack and not only end up injured by dead.

Wouldn’t it be more accurate to say that the tight rope is between the parents’ civil rights and the child’s own civil rights in addition to his or her safety? You’d think the burden of proof would be on the parents considering that the children, in addition to having a right to be safe, have civil rights of their own.

Now, I don’t know what the precedent of law says about the validity of civil rights of minors, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a SC case covering just this very issue.

Meanwhile, CPS agencies around the country continue to fail children left and right. That is not to say that plenty of kids aren’t helped by CPS, but there are still FAR too many kids who have fallen through the cracks.

However, in this case you can’t even say this cunt lip’s children “fell through the cracks” because they STRONGLY recommended they be returned to said cunt lip. Even AFTER the ADA attempted to intervene!

Jesus Fucking Christ. Sometimes I just want to throw up my hands.

I really feel for CPS workers (in general, not necessarily these particular ones). They are really stuck in a no-win situation, trying to walk that tightrope that Athena talks about. For every website like DD, there is a website dedicated to slamming CPS for “stealing children from their parents.” For every post demanding that CPS should be held accountable, there’s a post screaming that “these days, if you even tap your kid on the butt you’re hauled off to prison for child abuse.” (Which just isn’t true.) For every person who is incensed that our government agencies don’t do more to protect children, there’s someone getting on their high horse because the government “dared” to follow up an abuse claim by questioning their precious precious child/boyfriend/BFF who would never, ever do such a thing and is now scarred for life! because CPS wanted to ask him a few questions. For every person who is aghast that this woman had so many children, so young, and so close together, there is someone bitterly insulted because “OMG, I’m a teenage mother and I’m like awesome at it and you just insulted me!11111!!!!”

There are few jobs where you are so guaranteed to have someone hate you, no matter what you do. And it doesn’t pay squat. No wonder they have the turnover that they do, and no wonder they don’t get enough workers to stay on long enough to really become seasoned and experienced in making the right call. What screwed up priorities our society has–we see no problem with paying someone millions to throw a ball through a hoop, or to pretend he’s a pet detective talking out of his buttcheeks, but god forbid we pay social workers and daycare providers a decent salary.

I just got done reading this book called Damaged. It’s a true story of a little girls horrific life and pretty much how CPS totally failed her. What I don’t understand is why CPS tries to rehabiltate these parents and give them a second chance with their children? If a child is harmed by there parents, why would anyone want to give the child back to this person?! They allow things to keep happening until the child is killed by these worthless parents. No wonder why they have such a horrible repuation. I also found in this book that while the children are in custody of the state they allow parents(depending on the situation) to have contact with their children. Why give someone the privlege of seeing there kids when they fucked up in the first place!?
