Latreasa Goodman Was In Culinary Distress

March 3, 2009 by Jaded

Fort Pierce, FLLast week, the Fort Pierce Police Department received three harrowing, terrifying 911 calls. The woman who placed those calls, Latreasa Goodman, was frantic…she wanted help and she wanted it now! The emergency? McDonald’s was out of Chicken McNuggets. *gasp* That poor, poor woman. No one should have to experience a tragedy like that.

Latreasa Goodman

Latreasa Goodman

The story begins at a McDonalds. Goodman entered the establishment and waited her turn in line. She approached the counter and ordered a 10-piece Chicken McNugget meal. At this time, it is unknown which dipping sauce she preferred. The cashier rang up the sale. Demonites, I have to be honest with you, I’m having difficulty with the writing of this story. The horror of it all is just too much…I guess I must soldier on and continue with the telling.

Goodman was informed that there were no McNuggets. There wasn’t a nugget to be found in the entire store. The cashier graciously offered to provide Goodman with a McDouble and a small fry, a bigger meal, at the same price. Goodman was crushed. A McDouble instead of juicy nuggets? How dare the cashier make such an offer. Goodman wanted her money back. The cashier, that evil woman, told Goodman that all sales are final. Goodman was irate! She called 911 to report the lack of nuggets and the lack of a refund. Dispatch took the woman’s call and, trying to soothe the tormented woman, told her that an officer was en route.

Meanwhile, back at the Mickey D’s, Goodman couldn’t be placated. ‘I don’t want a McDouble and a small fry!’ she wailed. Again, a call was placed to 911, and again, a dispatcher reassured Goodman that on officer was on his way. With lights and sirens blaring, I’m sure.

They must not have arrived soon enough for Goodman, because she called one more time. We all know that police officers in Florida have nothing better to do with their time, right? I mean, it’s Florida…what crimes could possibly happen there? Why weren’t they rushing to this woman’s aid?

The boys in blue finally showed up to rescue the damsel in culinary distress. Those bad police officers must have been siding with the evil cashier…they didn’t find missing nuggets to be a 911-type emergency. Goodman wasn’t going to be bullied though. She stood her ground. ‘This is an emergency. If I would have known they didn’t have McNuggets, I wouldn’t have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don’t want one. This is an emergency.’ Heartbreaking. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Latreasa Goodman, 27, was forced to leave the eatery without her nuggets. She was issued a notice to appear on a misuse of 911 charge. Tell it to the judge Latreasa. Idiot. And we wonder why cops beat some people…

I think the problem was that they took her money and wouldn’t give it back. I agree with her side although I wouldn’t have callled the cops, I just would have beaned the cashier right between the eyes. Why did they take her order and allow her to pay for it and then tell her they were out of nuggets?

    jaded another great one
She called 911 and continued to call 911 and contined to call 911
Thank God she didn’t have the homeland security terrorist number on hand
Cashier was wrong a manager should’ve handled it and given her money back
But multiple calls to 911? Maybe she was so busy with the cell phone, they couldn’t get her attention to give the money back.

No kidding. I worked for the intelligence side of the Fed house and the stories I could tell you about people calling/writing in would put this lady to shame. No doubt they could have found her some McNuggets even if they couldn’t locate any WMD :)

Not for nothing, but she was right to be as upset as she was. And the cops making fun of her, well, at least she called the cops and didn’t get arrested for assault. I’m telling you, mess with my food, then don’t give me a refund and we’ll see what happens then. I feel her aggravation.

Ever since I was knee-high, I have loved Chicken McNuggets from McDonald’s. Nothing else compares. So I understand why she wouldn’t want a McDouble instead. I also understand why she’d want her money back, so she could go to another McDonald’s and get what she wanted. The cashier was wrong in treating her that way. I can understand her anger and I can understand the injustice. You hand over your money and then they say, “Oh, we’re out of McNuggets, but we can’t give you a refund…” That’s bullshit. They should have known they were out of McNuggets before they took her money. That’s “I-want-to-talk-to-a-manager-NOW” time. And, if if the manager happens to be a moron, that’s when you go over the manager’s head, contact corporate office and have everyone involved fired. Been there, done that, and let me say, it’s a lot more satisfying than acting like a jackass and being arrested. No matter how you put it, a cashier being a dimwit hardass is NOT a 911 caliber emergency!

When people misuse 911, they’re taking vital time away from people who are minutes away from death. My son nearly died twice while I was pregnant with him. Both times, 911 was called and an ambulance was in front of my house within 3 minutes. (He’s now a happy, healthy seven-month old who is perched on my lap cooing as I write this. If it weren’t for 911, neither of us would be here now.) Now, imagine that everyone who had a problem with a fast food place was calling 911 on those occasions. My son and I both would have died. I think this woman deserved to be arrested for misusing 911. It’s in place to save lives, not settle problems at a fast food joint. That’s what managers and corporate offices are for.

Nearly everyone in this story is a dumbass. The cashier, for not giving the woman her money back, and the woman, for blowing the problem WAY out of proportion.

Apparently, one of the Chief Executives stated that she should have been given her refund; she will be sent a certificate for a FREE MEAL. Of course, most people would instruct the manager to put them in contact with their superior via telephone and the issue is often solved then and there. I’ve seen this happen several times… usually, the customer comes out with a good deal. To call the cops or 911 is extreme, and I think she should be penalized for her abuse of the system.

Oh my fucking God, I cannot imagine the horrors this poor woman went through !!! I mean, she should have called FBI to report McNugget terrorists.

before i read the front page writeup and comments here, i posted about this terrible injustice in the forums. i agree with you, she shouldn’t have counted on the local cops to handle a crime of this magnitude. the FBI would have been a much better choice. she might even need to go further…i think the UNHRC should investigate, mcnugget crimes are really a human rights issue.

This is an emergency.’

i really cannot believe this fucking idiot. she acted like not getting her mcnuggets was the worst day of her life. it really takes a special combination of stupid, crazy and bitchy to consider this an emergency, and she had it. repeatedly calling 911 because you couldn’t get your chicken nuggets? yeah, how could that possibly go wrong?

Latreasa Goodman, 27, was forced to leave the eatery without her nuggets. She was issued a notice to appear on a misuse of 911 charge. Tell it to the judge Latreasa. Idiot. And we wonder why cops beat some people…

And she’s got that “I still ain’t got my damn McNuggets” look on her face.

yeah, exactly. she deserved every bit of trouble she got. she called 911 3 times with the most incredibly stupid “emergency” the dispatchers and cops had heard of, i’m sure. and she didn’t even get her nuggets or her money. she acted like a stupid douche and got ticketed for it. that’s not an overreaction, it should happen more often.

What is is with people call 911 when their order isn’t right at a fast food establishment? I’m sure you’ve heard the Burger King Western Burger emergency, right?

i can’t believe this shit…so she’s not the only fucktard who called 911 about a fast food crisis situation? how the fuck do people come up with this stuff? if mcdonalds is out of your favourite food, it is not an emergency or a hate crime or a conspiracy. just get something else or go to another fucking fast food place., if you can’t handle that and you still think you need immediate emergency assistance, you are a super idiot and a giant douche, full stop.

I worked in fast food and we always offered a refund if we ran out of a certain item on the menu and forgot to tell the customer AND offered a replacement meal. So I think this cashier or McFranchise owner’s policy is very faulty, but calling 9-1-1 was just asinine!!

    Latreasa, listen and learn!

The KFC by my house jipped me on 2 pieces of chicken and a biscuit. I was pretty pissed, especially because I had already arrived home and changed into my pj’s when I discovered the mistake! I was ranting and raving to my hubby, and still seething when I drove back to KFC in my pj’s. By the time I got back to the KFC, I had calmed down a bit. I calmly asked to speak to the manager, and he not only gave me a whole new meal, but he also gave me a free chocolate cake!

On a side bar–my hubby was laughing at me for going back, until I came home with more than double what we had started out with! Haha!

You’re all very civilized here, so I will be too. I think that this is a case of someone who never was taught manners by her parent’s, and who feels entitled because her family, and friends probably told her that she was, not necessarily because they gave her anything she wanted. That’s my opinion. The fact of the matter is she should have called the regular phone line for the police department, not 911, and that’s what’s she’s being charged for in addition to having her priorities screwed up.

    http://www.cbs12.com/news/keep_4715268___article.html/refund_says.html

she did not accept mcdonald’s apology, and she refused the free nuggets and the refund! that’s strange, she claimed that it was an “emergency” call because they wouldn’t give her money back, and now she won’t take it? maybe it wasn’t about getting ripped off at all…

mcdonald’s never should have apologised to her, that was a bitch move. she should apologise to mcdonald’s, the cops and the 911 call centre for being a crazy idiot who called 911 about her stupid chicken nuggets. not very likely i’m thinking.

oh, she says she’s thinking about a lawsuit against mcdonald’s! yeah, they owe her big for not giving her those chicken nuggets! that would get thrown out of court so fast it’s not even funny. really, she’s such a Mcdouche.

This woman is an idiot — but what the hell is going on when the restaurant takes your money and then reveals that they don’t have what you ordered and won’t give you your money back?

A more intelligent refund policy would have cut short all the time the restaurant invested in this woman’s stupidity.

She’s a fool for causing such a fuss — the restaurant is stupid for being so inflexible — taxpayers’ money was wasted on the police having to respond — but I suppose the police felt anyone so unstable might pull out a gun and start shooting McDoubles and their makers.

The name “Latreasa” says it all — another freak whose parents spent more time figuring a cute way to spell a stupid name than they put into raising their child.

I doubt it’s restaurant policy, bet it was more like a new hourly employee misunderstanding policies and the nut escalating the situation before the manager could react, they would not be very successful if not customer oriented

Ok…she shouldn’t have called 911, however Mcdonald’s released this statement:

“Satisfying each and every customer that visits our restaurants is very important to us. Regarding this isolated incident, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. In the event that we are unable to fill an order, a customer should be offered the choice of a full refund or alternative menu items. We regret that in this instance, that wasn’t the case.

We want to correct our mistake. We will be sending the customer her refund, along with an invitation to return for her original order, on us. We never want to disappoint a McNuggets fan or any McDonald’s customer. Customer satisfaction is our top priority.”

What kind of McDonalds Runs out of NUGGETS? Isn’t that their main commercial on tv…McNugget Nut or something like that? And what kind of Manager is running that joint to not stock up on the Damn Nuggets? And on top of that….It’s kind of illegal to refuse to refund on something that you cannot deliver. While her name is not what caused her stupidity, there is a link between odd/unpopular names and criminal behavior, regardless of race. It’s because children with such names are more likely to be born to disadvantaged home in disadvantaged neighborhoods. It’s by no means a recipe for disaster, however. People with odd or unique names lead perfectly respectable lives, more often than not.

Personally, I don’t get the desire to make up a name or, worse yet, to develop some unique spelling of a common name. But, to each, their own. Lots of people certainly don’t care for my preferred name choices.

Ok I don’t want to get jumped on for this, but here’s a true story

OK school teachers and those who work with the public, how  would you pronounce this child’s name?
    Le-a (written just like that)
    Leah?  NO
    Lee – A?  NOPE
    Lay – a?  NO
    Lei?    Guess Again
    It’s pronounced “Ledasha”…
This child attends a school in Livingston Parish, LA.  Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong.
SO, if you see something come across your desk like this, please remember to pronounce it correctly.

When the mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said, “The dash don’t be silent.”
