Even IF he actually did keep falling/flailing about (which we kow DID NOT HAPPEN!) nice how she didnt care about that but was so concerned he got his rest she left him to sleep--YEAH RIGHT!!! What's unbelievable is that the grandmother's BOYFRIEND called 911. How many times on this site do we hear of a caretaker's boyfriend being the perp? He probably had very little real connection to the child, but it sounds like even he was reasonable and compassionate enough to see that the little boy desperately needed help, unlike his own piece of shit grandmother. Unlike her, his main concern was not "getting caught," it was helping the child. This guy may be a dick for all I know, but he knew what was right in this situation.

This is odd, the report by the NY Times say it's an 18 month old brother, not a sister to Kevion. And I can't find any of the reports that say the mother left her children in care of her grandmother (the children's great grandma), they all say that the Mother's mother (children's grandmother) gained custody of the children when her daughter went to jail. Damnit, she had one of those lethal, child killing bathtubs.

I couldn't get thru the story. It tugged at my heart. Seeing his beautiful innocent face and knowing that he was murdered was enough for me. This has really got to stop. Something must be done about our children being murdered.

The great grandmother might have found it too exhausting to care for two little ones. I'm exhausted with my two boys 5 yrs. and 18 months., and I'm sure as heck no great grandma.

If she knew of her daughters problems and sounds like rage issues too....and I'm thinking she did, how could she not, she handed them over to certain death. The baby girl wasn't abused, so it looks like she picked on little Kevion for personal reasons, or the fact that he could actually talk and take an opinion on her stupid ass. Very common to see on child singled out and abused.

She should have notified CPS that she was having trouble caring for the children...something happened where she just gave them up to a felon bitch. This poor little boy, the pain he must have endured, makes me so sad and angry. The mom skipped right over her mom (Angela), and entrusted her babies to her grandmother. I wonder why? But more importantly, I want to know what happened that made Shirley turn those kids over to Angela. Damn.

I think the great-grandmother should be charged with endangerment for placing the babies in Angela's care. I know times have changed and Grandma's aren't rocking away, knitting booties and mittens but this is ridiculous!! So she thought he was "sleeping" after his beating on Friday night and didn't think it odd that he was still sleeping Saturday evening?? At least her boyfriend had the presence of mind to call 911. Where is the father of these children? The grandfather appeared in Court but where is he? It appears a pattern has started in this family and hopefully the 18 month old will be taken away forever and break this cycle.
