Great Falls, MT–What do you do when things are rough and you’re having a tough time? Take a long hot bath? How about a nice long walk? Do you curl up into the fetal position, suck your thumb, and cry for your mommy? Or, do you take a crying baby and bash her tiny head into a crib? Guess which option Alicia Jo Hocter went with….
Alicia’s boyfriend walked out the door Wednesday afternoon, leaving his 6-month-old daughter in Alicia’s care. When he returned just a couple of hours later, Alicia was rocking the unresponsive child. He called 911.
When paramedics arrived at the apartment, the baby was convulsing with seizures. Medical staff at Benefis Health reported that the baby’s brain was bleeding, her retina was detached and she suffered seizures throughout the night. They indicated that ‘there was quite some force used on the child.’
When questioned, Alicia initially told investigators ’she was trying to put the baby in a crib and the child slipped out of her hands and struck the edge of the crib.’ Yeah, we already know how slippery little kids can be. With a bit more prodding, Alicia finally quit with the bullshit story.
She told investigators that she was stressed about money and she couldn’t get the baby to stop crying. So, she grabbed the child by the waist and swung her against the edge of a wooden crib two or three times. She tossed the baby into the crib, turned on the radio, left the room, and closed the door. She thought the baby girl was dead. Imagine her surprise when, about 15 minutes later, she heard the baby making a choking noise.
She didn’t call 911 she says, because she couldn’t find the phone. Her boyfriend told police the phone was ‘right there’ when he got home. It’s not money that’s your problem Alicia, it’s more of an anger management issue. I got your cure right here, if you’re interested.
Alicia also has a child of her own…a month old baby girl. Well, she did. That child was found to be unharmed and was taken into custody by DFS. Her boyfriend’s child is said to be recovering and in fair condition.
Alicia Jo Hocter, 20, is now being charged with attempted murder. Bond has been set at $75,000. Alicia doesn’t have a prior criminal history, but officers are looking into a previous report filed with DFS. It has been reported that Alicia plans to represent herself throughout the court hearings.

I hope the baby will recover. This bitch deserves to be slam against a wall with her hand tide. she will feel how it is to be defenseless and powerless like this baby was. I think every person thats had a newborn/infant has had those moments of total insanity.But most dont bash the friggen baby into cribs,walls,floors etc.I also have had moments of turning up TV or radio and laying down swearing to god I will never have another baby!!And just as fast as it began,the baby usually does something completely off the wall to reset your mind like babbling like only they can,or rolling over and smiling at you.You get past it .But how the hell can you justify bashing and abusing a baby??Let her hang herself in court.They make the best episodes of Court TV!~She may think shes smart enough to get herself out of this in court but I can promise you she wont,and she wont be the most popular broad on her cell block either.She will be on the recieving end of the bashing.

Abroad, the reason I put it that way is mainly because violent tendencies don’t just magically appear. I have 2 daughters so I KNOW it can be stressful. But as others here have stated, there are many other things you can do to get a baby to stop crying. Swinging it like a ragdoll IS NOT one of them! I’m just thinking that if she showed the possibility of being violent he shouldn’t have left his baby with her. Then again I don’t know all the details.

I like your thinking! It would save so much of the court’s time and money – and how many lives would be saved!!! After all, who’d bother to report her missing? And if they did, do a “search” call her a “run-away mom” and call it a day.

Good luck to these two little babies, I hope the penis that got her pregnant is responsible, although I kind of doubt it as she’s with someone “new” with a newborn.
Maybe hospital staffs should make a “book” that new parents have to read and sign before leaving the hospital with a baby:
1. NEVER, under any circumstances, shake this baby.
2. NEVER, under any circumstances, hit/punch/kick/strike this baby or place him/her in a dangerous situation.
3. NEVER, under any circumstances, leave this baby in the care of someone who may cause harm to him/her.
4. If any of the above should happen, dial 911 immediately and tell the truth!!
5. If you can’t stand the crying, make sure the baby is in a safe location, find the phone, go to a closet and call a good friend or relative who can talk you through it.

my name is laurie and i know all involved VERY WELL! IN FACT THE 1 MONTH OLD IS MY SONS AND WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET CUSTODY since alicia was 5 months pg. but we were told there was nothing we could do because she hasnt been prove unfit. WHAT A JOKE! i hope she rits in jail!!!!!! now we are waiting for paternity tests to come back and we get baby. she had her bf put his name on birth certificate so my son wouldnt have any rights. as for the 6 month old she is out of the hospital but is also in foster care until her parents take classes for special needs children. i just want all of you to know this. we have been having prayer lines going all over the us for sara (6 month old). and now we hope we get our little girl REAL soon so shedosent have stay in foster care and canbe with people who love her. thank you VERY much

i am seraphina’s mother. this is my little girl that this happened to. i didn’t even know this site existed until today. Just wanted to update everyone on how she is doing. She is doing awsome. She is totally blind and has seizures. but for what happened she is excelling very well. She is in Physical therapy and Oral therapy and will begin pre school at the deaf and blind school in 5 months. she is already 13 months old. she is standing and catching up to age group very well. I also wanted to let you all know that her father is just as much a piece of shit as she is. They were both abusing her and i tried to go to the police an dfs and they would not listen. I have pics of her with black eyes and handprint bruises on her stomach. He admitted in family meetings that he would safety pin her hands behind her back to keep her in swaddles and spanked and put her in time out at 1 month old. I feel guilty sometimes for not just kidnapping her instead of fighting him legally. Now she is home with me and is very happy. Her father abandoned her and had his rights taken away from him. My boyfriend of a year is working on adopting her. She knows him as da da and loves him very much. if any of you would like to see pics you can go to myspace and look up Kendra Bernardi. by the way alicia is 5 months pregnant and has a court date in november we are hoping for at least 30 years though i guess she is claiming insanity
