Muncie, IN–Ryan Woodrum, 21, really knows how to show his appreciation. A homeless drifter, Woodrum befriended a Muncie family and gave them a sob story about having nowhere to live other than a homeless shelter. So this kind, and somewhat naive, family took him in.

The agreement was that he would help around the house in exchange for room and board. He helped all right…he helped himself to their 13-year-old daughter. How’s that for gratitude?

Woodrum must have worn out his welcome…the lady of the house asked him to leave on Thursday. Back on the streets and once again facing the prospect of shelter life, Woodrum did what any shit-for-brains would do, he called the cops and told them that he was having a sexual relationship with the woman’s teen-age daughter. He had love letters from the girl to prove it. Ooohh, love letters. Well in that case….

When officers questioned the young girl, she told them that shortly after taking up residence in the home, Woodrum started pressuring her for sex. He even molested the girl in her momma’s bed. What a tool. The teen also told officers she didn’t want Woodrum arrested and thrown in jail…I’m sure she thinks they are in love.

Ryan Woodrum is not only a child molestor, he’s a convicted felon as well. I know, I know…try to contain your surprise. Authorities discovered that Woodrum had warrants out on him in Marion County charging him with auto theft and receiving stolen property. His record boasts a conviction of battery causing injury in 2006, and a felony count of battery in Marion County last March. The first conviction of battery landed him a 12-day jail sentence. And he was supposed to spend 2 years behind bars on the second conviction of battery…but was released in October.

Now he has another little addition to his record, child molesting. He is being held without bond in the Delaware County Jail in Muncie.

What the hell was wrong with this family? Why are dumbass parents allowing strangers in their homes when they have children? Being kind is one thing, being ignorant when it comes to the safety of your children is just plain fucked up!

Hate the early release, I think everyone knows they’re coming back it’s a rotation system, not enough room for everyone at once so they release, incarcerate, release, re-incarcerate and so on, no reason for short sentences or early release other than needing the cell space for the latest loser, which in turn will be released early to make room for the previous loser’s return

You pegged me! I tried to avoid this story because, yes – I live in Muncie. That is the ONLY commonality I have with this story! lol. No way, no how would some homeless person sleep here! I have a tough time letting relatives stay over sometimes (once they’re in, it can be harder to get them out!) lmao.
It’s unfortunate that Muncie is full of oddballs – and I’m not talking about Mr. Creepo here – I’m talking about the mother who took him in! Sounds like a single mom – which makes her all the more stupid! I’m really kinda flabberghasted at this story. I’d be sending him to his family, his friends or a shelter – but NOT giving him the key to my daughter’s innocence!

This guy would be so dead. On the other hand, I cannot imagine allowing someone to crash at my home just because they have a sob story, male or female, young or old. Everyone’s got a sad story of some sort, but that doesn’t mean they can move in with me and my kids, never did. I might buy them a burger and fries or something, but I sure wouldn’t expose my children to them and i certainly would not allow them into my home.

This girls’ parents could have done NOTHING and she would’ve been better off. They actually put significant effort into moving a fucking homeless guy into their house, to leave their daughter alone with! IDIOTS — how was this ever going to work out?!

These are the cream of the crop in our f-d up society. These are the ones that are so F-d up that your local news channel is often too repulsed by them, or what they have done, to report these tales of shame and stupidity.
I have personally known of single moms who have let who-knows-what move on in, if they think it will help their money situation, or if that person can contribute in some way to the household- (too often just there to get them off and say they are in LOVE….) Yeah, me too. My own idiot of a mother moved in a guy she’d know for all of a week. She met him at a night job and felt sorry for him because he was in rehab and had no place to stay. He only stayed for about a month but I was 14 and my sister was 10, and we were left alone with him all of the time! I shudder to think what could’ve happened!

i’ve been wondering this myself when I see stories like this. really, what kind of immense stupidity does it take for someone to actually think “hey, why don’t i invite this sleazy looking homeless guy into my house, to live with myself and my 13 year old daughter?” when you take a minute and think about it like that, it’s not such an awesome idea is it?

also, why did he go to the cops? did he really think a homeless shelter would be worse than prison? or is he one of those insane types who thought that by going to the cops he could get back together with his girl? not as if that makes even the slightest bit of sense, i’m just trying to get inside the criminal douche mind here.

Being kind to strangers in need is fine in my book, but to “go the extra mile” and bring them into your intimate space (home) and private life is irresponsible. No doubt the feeling of helping someone is a good feeling, but to throw all caution to the wind and expect the man upstairs to protect you should this be a mistake is stupid!
