In this day and age…when information is so readily available, why wouldn’t any woman with two young kids take 10 minutes to run a quick background check on the men they decide to bring into their home?
I have no idea. This just blows my mind. I don’t even think you sleep at night, Morbid, and if you do, I know you cannot wake up feeling rested and all sun-shiney! I sure as hell don’t after reading about these asshats every day! Those poor babies. This just really sickens my heart and makes me wish I could do more than just vent my outrage and write letters. Just ten minutes is all it would of took. Well, and some intelligence. Ten fucking minutes.

My sister in law adopted a baby from Guatemala, he’s now 2 1/2 and his name is Joshua…what are the chances…wow.
Looking at his pieceoshit face, I seriously think I can take him on. He likes to pick on small people, I’m 5 ft. nothing….bring it on baby killer. May this bastards lasting days be of anguish and misery. I hope he dies alone in his cell after he is beaten mercilessly.

ya know,I ran a back ground check on anyone I dated. Found some interesting shit out about one man. I even ran a check on my now husband when I met him. It only takes few minutes and most of the time it is free.

And what were the adoption people doing? Did they thoroughly check her out?
And WTF is her problem bringing a rapist around her 2 young children? She needs to accept some responsibility for this happening! In this day and age, w/ the internet, you can do a lot of googling and research on people. I realize when meeting someone and getting into a relationship, the last thing you are thinking of or wondering about is does this person have a record? Should I search them on the internet?
But chances are this didn’t just happen over one night! There had to be other signs he was violent and unstable! The chick should have done her homework and cared for her kids first and her vagina LAST!

I have a two year old son and when i started to read this i almost hit the back button. Knowing that these things happen to children is completely heartbreaking and just completely blows my mind. Hopefully the adoption agency gets it right for the little girl. Sad thing is the adoptive mother probably only really cared about the couple hundred bucks she would get a month. If I could adopt every child that goes through this shit i would!

She adopted these kids from Guatemala. She doesn’t get any subsidy – she had to have spent thousands, and probably tens of thousands (for each kid!) in order to adopt and bring them to this country. I would guess that she cares, and deeply.

None of you knows anything about this mother. It’s easy to throw stones when you know nothing of the situation. I can’t imagine the horror and guilt and grief she must be feeling. She is not charged. That monster of a man who tricked her into thinking that he was an upstanding person, did this. She trusted the wrong man, and is going through hell for it. Now she’s lost her daughter, too. Sounds like she was just looking for a relationship since she was estranged from her husband. I know I have never done a background check – I guess I just got lucky.
Are you going to blame a woman who is raped, too? This mother is a victim, just like her son. She made a huge mistake, and will pay for it with her heart.

I am not throwing stones at her but hell fire.. he is a sex offender and that is something that she could have found out about if she only took the time to try to protect her children.

You know everyone wants to talk shit about Chris. You know what about the mother? I have personally known Chris for 7 years now, and I know he is not capable of this. Did anyone ever stop to think for a minute, that maybe Marrium didn’t need any babies, she couldn’t handle the responsibilty, and the crying of a young child, and snapped. Just because, you did a crime in the past, doesn’t make you a murderer. If that was the case, a whole lot more people would be in jail. I think if they do the proper investigation, they will find the only victims in this case will be that little boy and Chris. I hope the mother rots in hell for eternity for this

And like someone else has stated it costs a lot of money to adopt kids from other countries, so I’m thinking she had some compassion for children and just got caught up with some real nasty scum.

What he wasn’t capable of was registering in Ga. as a RSO and not having a firearm (since he was a felon).

I know some inside info on this case and Miriam (the “mother”) had known Christopher Gilreath since high school and was well aware of his past charges. She was covering up abuse of both of the children(either cased by her or Gilreath) for weeks prior to joshuas death. I dont want you people to get the idea that she is a poor innocent victim of this horrible man. Infact she is a horrible emotionless monster herself. She had little patience with those babies especially Joshua.
