If I had done something as stupid as this kumquat (I just love the sound of that…kinda sounds dirty a little bit)… My mother would have publicly beat the crap out of me. As a matter of fact, she would have most likely used one of the officers billy-clubs to do it!

As far has her learning a lesson…I won't believe that until she admits fault, and even then… I will reserve that judgment until her actions bear out her words.

This story was originally posted 11 months ago. That is almost one year. It had been well on its way to being buried by newer crimes until you dug it up and brought it back into the light.

Congratulations. Now it will get hosed off and redisplayed in all its shining glory for the education and edification of the thoughtless and mindless. Rachel would no doubt thank you for that.

For those interested in, say, crime info for Mooresville, Indiana, or any town or city across the U.S., this is a good resource.

It looks like Mooresville rates higher than the national average in terms of property crime, so, looks like Ms. Rachel was wrong… People do indeed steal cars there.

It kills me when vapid dolts are the ones breeding.

I’m not sure what fantasy town you have been living in, but Mooresville is a treasure trove of degenerates if you look hard enough. I worked with someone there who once spent over a thousand dollars on meth and invited some friends over to have a meth party. Another person I worked with there died of an OD. So while you and your bff’s were watching Hannah Montana, combing the hair of your My Little Ponies, and riding unicorns to school there were actually people doing drugs there. There are people doing drugs in every town in America. Even Mooresville. I guarantee it.

No, she hasn’t even admitted to doing anything wrong. I just read today that she hasn’t even gotten a lawyer yet and the judge had to tell her to hurry up and get one. She pleaded not guilty. I guarantee that if she hadn’t been caught that in a few years her poor kid would still be locked in the car while she went tanning again or was buying more clownwhore makeup or hairspray. You know, kids actually die from being left in cars, mooresville citizen. Happens every year. Hypothermia, Heat Stroke, being kidnapped by a pedophile or carjacker. Both she and her family need to understand how dangerous this is. She’s lucky that nothing terrible happened. This wasn’t a mistake. It was a choice. A stupid, thoughtless choice that she can’t even acknowledge. I hope she has fun in MCJ.

But I would like to defend my hometown just a bit and say that you all might want to do a little research on Mooresville before you start throwing accusations around about drugs and whatnot.

Mooresville is a small town and if you play sports at the high school then you are very well known. Rachel is a very well known person in our town and that is why she said that, but by no means do I think that she should have EVER said that or even thought that because she is not as special as she obviously thinks she is.

No doubt very well known to the residents of Mooresville, but not everybody in Mooresville is necessarily a resident. See, there are these things called “roads” that cross the country to provide a route for travel between locations — but Kenney knew about them; she has an automobile.

Google Earth puts Indianapolis 20 miles up the road. 20 miles is nothing. Do they know in Indianapolis who Rachel Kenney is?

The feeling of safety and security is different between a small town and a city. I now live in a city and I would NEVER leave my car unlocked, not even if i was just running into the store for 5 minutes. But at home it is different.

I live outside a small metropolis. There are more assaults within the metropolitan area than there are outside it as well as more burglaries and robberies — but because the population is greater within corporate limits than outside the odds are actually worse that any individual person outside corporate limits will be victimized than any individual person inside corporate limits. Feelings and facts are not the same.

I am not saying that Mooresville doesn’t have any crime problems, but for people that have never left that town they feel safe and comfortable and like nothing in the world could go wrong there. Methamphetamine doesn’t necessarily run a parade float up Main Street three times a day.

If I were to show you a picture of my high school senior class, could you pick out the speed freaks? Odds are you couldn’t, because your prejudices would keep you from thinking an athlete could be Doing Illicit Drugs — but I know half the football team, at least sporadically, was using methamphetamine. The only things that have changed between then and now, for all intents and purposes, is dinosaurs died out and the Internet has become all but ubiquitous. It still takes people until their late 20s to early 30s to finally discover they aren’t invulnerable.

I completely agree that she should have taken the baby inside because some kids are dying for a reason to get out of the pep rallys and they would have gladly watched the baby. i also agree that even though it is a small town that it was still dangerous for her to leave the baby in the car and that she is very naive to think otherwise. She has people world-wide being sharply, even harshly, critical of her actions. She now knows that it is people — not The State, some monolithic construct with ineluctable, even impenetrable, logic, but living and breathing individual people — that are shocked, horrified, appalled, and upset over her actions. I wouldn’t know her if she walked up to me and asked me to dance, but if she were to introduce herself to me I would know she was the selfish, thoughtless, immature, naive entitlement princess from Mooresville.

And I will tell you this too: truth is an absolute defense against an action for slander. For libel too, which is what you really mean. Slander is spoken lies; libel, written lies.

I’d like to know what definition of the word “slander” is being taught over there in Mooresville. No one is on here lying about Rachel Kenney.

She left her baby unattended in a car while she played basketball. That alone is enough to warrant a front page on this site. However, it appears that it was her “I am Rachel Kenney!” attitude that really put her here. I don’t give a damn who she is, and neither should the cops or anybody else. Anybody who leaves a baby unattended like that deserves to be arrested, and is damn lucky it didn’t turn out far worse. Personally, I’m sick to death of people who believe they are above the law and can do whatever they want based soley on what their name happens to be, who they know, or how well known they are within the community.

She could be from Mayberry, and she should still be counting her lucky damn stars right now. Not pitching a giant fit.

Why would you even make a statement about it being a white community and that’s why there’s very little crime? What does that have to do with anything?

Just to play devil’s advocate here over a cleary offensive statement… Can we point to a locality in this country that has similar or lower crime statistics and is *not* majority white? Now, I think there are sociological elements at play that aren’t race behind this, but I suspect that superficially, it might be a fair observation.
