Paul Hicks

CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Here’s one for all you parents…a little story to freak you out  bit the next time you at your local Wal-Mart. A mother and her 8-year-old aughter had just gotten in the car after a shopping trip at a Cherryville Wal-Mart when the little girl bursts into tears. She informed her mother that while they were in the store, a man had been jacking off in front of her. The man turned out to be a registered sex offender by the name of Paul Hicks, 47, who had already served 6 years after being convicted on three counts of indecent liberties with a child in 2001.

In-store surveillance cameras revealed Hicks had stalked the girl throughout the store for 25 of the 45 minutes the girl was in the store with her mother.  He tried to call the 8-year-old over to him, but she would not go, so Hicks resorted to fondling himself so that she could see him. He ran off when he incorrectly thought the girl’s mother had seen him. However, he remained in the store another 30 minutes after the pair left, following other children around the store.

Using the surveillance video and receipts from a credit card purchase, police were able to arrest Hicks at his home and charge him with one felony count of indecent liberties with a minor and one felony count of a violation of sex offender unlawfully on premises. On Friday, his bond was increased from $250,000 to $750,000 secured (yay judge). Police fear that there are more victims out there and have already seized computer equipment from his home. It’s probably not gonna help Hicks much that the 8-year-old girl he decided to wave his dick at happens to be  related to an administrator in the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office.

Call Cherryville Police at 704-435-1717 if you have any other information.

I would have been enraged to find that out. That fucker would have been lucky to walk away with his junk…

Poor child. I hope they discover the true monster that he is, as I’m sure they will find all kinds of sordid pictures to put him away for a long time.

I hope he gets his due in prison and then some…sick fuck!

    Be well sweet one.

You hit that nail right on the head Silvahalo! That poor kid goes to Walmart on an innocent trip with her mother and gets exposed to this sick perv’s junk! How the hell did this happen? My kids don’t go anywhere in the store w/o me, and my daughter is 12! WTH? Was he doing this with the mother’s back turned or something?

Believe me had I seen him in that store doing this, I would have gone straight over and cut his dick and balls off. Then I would have turned around and walked away.

I witnessed an old man jacking off while riding in a car w/ my Nan. I told her and she passed him and blared her horn. I was tormented all that day – the 1st penis I ever saw belonged to a sicko weirdo jerking off in traffic! Ewww.
Good for the little girl having enough sense to NOT approach this man when he called her over to him and for alerting her mother to what had happened. We have to teach our kids to be more aware and to be street smart (in this case walmart smart), this will save them when we can’t.

When I was a little girl, we had a neighborhood flasher. My mom is a small lady, 5′ 6” and at her heaviest 150lbs…maybe. He flashed mom outside of our yard on the street! She proceeded to lock the storm door, run to the kitchen and return with a knife and waved it at him…Bye-bye!

I thought “surveillance” cameras were, well…. surveilled! (probably not a word…lol)

Honestly, though. Isn’t someone manning these camera’s? If he was behaving that oddly for that period of time — why didn’t someone from security check things out?? He LOOKS creepy! I can’t believe NO ONE noticed a creepy old perv following a little girl around the store – or standing there messing with his 2X2 (as in inches!)

Poor kid. I’m guessing mom was not far from her, but was distracted by whatever she was shopping for (hence the little scare the perv had)

This time — keep the waste of space LOCKED UP or just euthanize him! PERVS DON’T CHANGE DAMMIT!!!

The first time I was flashed, I was maybe 8 or 9. There were a group of us kids walking up to the Majik Market located at the front of our apartment complex. Some dude in a second floor threw open his window and laid his wanker out on the window sill. I think I laughed but one of the girls told her parents and the cops were called and they interviewed all of us. I just remember thinking it was pathetic – even at such a young age. I have been flashed four times now. Only once as a kid though. I wasn’t nearly as traumatized as this little girl obviously was…glad she told her mom. Stranger Danger!

What a creepy SOB. He’s pretty lucky he wasn’t seen by an adult.

With all due respect, FF, most parents aren’t gripped by the type of fear that won’t allow them to let an older child browse a bit, and the vast majority of those kids are able to do so safely. When I was roughly that age, my mom would occasionally send me off to tackle part of the list so we’d get the shopping done faster… and I’m alive to tell the story. :)

What I’m concerned about is, while I’m glad she told her mom eventually, why didn’t she tell her mom immediately? If the guy was trying to call her over to him, she should have told her mother right then and there. While it’s unfortunate that the child was shocked by this, it sounds like it’s a good time to refresh the “what should you do” conversation. This was a relatively inexpensive lesson. This girl could have been nabbed.

I didn’t understand that either. My girls both would have told me as soon as he done it. They always say “mommy will take care of it” :-D

Maybe she didn’t feel comfortable saying what she saw to her Mom and possibly was embarrased. I’m guessing the only reason she did say anything because she was crying and I’m sure her Mom wanted to know why.

Also I guess I didn’t realize how common this was, all these stories just in this link alone. Jeez.

I wouldn’t use this particular sample of individuals to conclude just how common any form of victimization is. People who have been victimized at some point tend to be drawn to true crime, meaning you’re going to see a higher rate of victimization among our members and commenters than you would among the general populace, I’d guess. Besides, more people are going to be prone to mention that they have been through something like this than mention they haven’t.

Neither me nor any of my friends were ever flashed, for the record. :)

Maybe she didn’t feel comfortable saying what she saw to her Mom and possibly was embarrased. I’m guessing the only reason she did say anything because she was crying and I’m sure her Mom wanted to know why.

I’m absolutely sure that’s the case. That’s also why it’s a problem. Kids need to be able to rise above discomfort when it involves their safety. It sounds like there may not be enough emphasis on this in that household.

No offense taken, Athena. I understand your point and I do allow her to go off as long as her friends are with her, just never alone. I just believe she is too young right now and these asshats can be anywhere, including in the stores and restrooms. I didn’t believe the mother allowed the child to wander, I assumed this had to have happened when her back was turned and he was somewhere out of her view, but not the child’s.
I am glad you’re alive to tell the story. :) And I am glad this girl is too. I hope he stays in jail for the rest of his life! He will never change and will only do it again or something far worse next time.

This prick (pun intended) has had 47 years of a wasted life doing nothing with it but getting his wad off at the expense of innocent children. Here’s the thing: either lock the sick bastard up FOREVER or get rid of him.. end of story. Most folks now days are having a hard time just getting by from day-to-day while these sick pedos are happy either locked-up or free to live their corrupt existence with fantasies of the next victim; either way, they are a burden on the rest of us. This shit is getting too frequent to the point where a day doesn’t go by where some little kid is either murdered or sexually destroyed by an adult. Our next generation will be so ‘mental’ , no doubt about it.

When I was about 4 years old, there was a playground located right next to a old gym which had a coal furnace. The furnace basement was a dark and dirty place, so we were told that it was no place for little kids to be near. One day, a boy who we all considered a brother-figure, told me to come over there because he wanted to show me something. Of course, I told him I’d get in trouble if I went over there; he said it was just for a second, then I could run back real quick. I trusted him… I went. Just as I got close enough to him, he swooped me up and ran into the basement with me and told me to lie down. He laid on top of me and went through his ‘motions’ which scared me more than I can express. He didn’t touch me, but I later learned he had gone that far with other friends. None of us ever told on him because we knew we weren’t suppose to be there in the first place… we didn’t want a spanking. Of course, the boy got caught by a worker while he was molesting another girl… we never saw him again. Many years later, I saw him and learned that he was a Minister! Amazing!

Knotme: Wowzerz…. does this suprise you??? I think that being an ordained minister should be in the profile for pedophiles, sex offenders, and child pornographers. I mean one of the most respected and trusted positions! You know…. kinda like that Keith Luke case, Genocide was his calling ….maybe endangering the welfare and raping children is the “Calling and Prophecy” of ministers…..ya think??

Yes we do learn from our past. I started teaching my girls when they were 2 and 3 that if anyone touches their monkeys (lol) they needed to tell mommy. I told them that I don’t care who it was an uncle, friend anyone they needed to tell me and I promised them that I would always protect them and take care of them and I meant it. Now that they are teenagers they tell me that I am overprotective.

I learned at an early age that some men are dirty old men and I learned that the hard way at age 15

Hi, everyone – Great site. Been reading for several months, but never posted. Feeling chatty tonight.

With all due respect, FF, most parents aren’t gripped by the type of fear that won’t allow them to let an older child browse a bit, and the vast majority of those kids are able to do so safely.

I’m with FFox on this one. At the risk of sounding old and fearful, things just aren’t like they used to be. My son is 4 now, but I don’t envision him running around the neighborhood on his bike at 8 unsupervised, like I did when I was a child. Maybe I’m a tad overprotective as my wife occasionally suggests (this site certainly doesn’t help!), but why take the chance? There are plenty of ways for him to assert his independance and grow into a well-adjusted child, but running around the molesto-mart unsupervised at a young age doesn’t seem like one of them. Instruction and supervision are both important.

I guess the perv would have had to STEAL something for security to notice him.

He did. He stole that child’s innocence, but it didn’t cost Walmart anything other than a little bad press. What is it with Walmart, anyway? I don’t even want to go into those bathrooms alone.
