, no such luck. I have been a bit swamped lately, but I got an email about this guy, and I thought he deserved a nice front page post. He is Robert Langford, 27. The other night Langford was at a friend he had known for several years, helping out by babysitting her son and 9-year-old daughter while she was at work. Everything seemed to be going fine until Robert Langford threatened the girl’s life and then raped her in the ass.
It is reported that Langford is one of those individuals you run into who always crashes at other peoples places because he has no where to go and depends on others for rides because he has no car. No word on if he was living with the woman, but the girl stated that they were watching television when Langford started letting his fingers do the walking on her leg. She eventually ran from Langford, but he caught her, threw her on to her brother’s bed and then forced her to engage in sex acts, including vaginal and anal intercourse….topping things off with a little forced oral. The girl pleaded for him to stop, but these were met with Langford covering her mouth and being told that he would kill her if she told.
Well, thankfully the girl did tell someone. She told her mother when she got home later that morning after asking her daughter about marks on her face. Her mother, showing quite a different reaction than some of the women we feature on D’D, immediately called police. Robert Langford ran out of the house during that phone call. He was apprehended later, and charged with one count of forcible rape and three counts of forcible sodomy. I doubt this guy has too many people who are gonna come in here and take up for him or try and allude to the girl lying, but in case anyone does, the girl underwent a forensic examination and was found to have physical injuries consistent with the details she gave police.
Besides that, Langford has past arrests for assault and is the leading suspect in the forcible rape and sodomy of another female, age unknown. I wonder if the mother of this particular girl was aware of these past charges. I sure hope someone could shed a bit of light on that aspect, as I would hate to think that a mother would leave her girl with someone she knew to be dangerous. But until more details come forth I am reserving all my scorn for Langford.

OMG! Poor girl. What the fuck was her mother thinking! Why do these women keep putting their children in this sort of danger??? Kudos to her for not letting him get away with it and shame on her for putting her in danger in the first place.

April, once again we don’t know if her mother knew of this piece of garbage’s past history like mentioned above and if she did know him for years, she may have honestly thought he was okay to watch the children, ON THE OTHER HAND…..The mother called police ASAP and to me that does not sound like a mother covering up for a friend or selecting a dick over her child…..SO SORRY FOR THIS LITTLE GIRL THAT SHE HAD TO ENDURE SUCH TRAUMA AT SUCH A YOUNG YOUNG AGE, AT ANY COST AT ANY AGE NO ONE SHOULD BE FORCED INTO SUCH ACTS…I pray that the family pulls together and helps the little girl get through this horrible horrible unthinkable thing that was done to her…. So sorry to her and her family…

Apalling, disgusing, and sad. I pray that the little girl has a complete recovery, mentally and physically, and gets all the comfort and counseling she needs. What a horrible ordeal for anyone, particularly a child, to endure! May justice be swift and severe. . . . .

I’m reserving no scorn for either of these two. Any mom that would leave her kids with a ne’er-do-well mooch deserves my scorn. Even if she didn’t know his past charges – or even if he had none – he’s irresponsible scum. He can’t take care of his own life, I sure as hell wouldn’t trust him with the life of my child.

I have to agree with Dakota, there has got to be some shadyness with someone who isn’t even responsible for himself, ie no home, car, etc to think that he would be responsible with a 9 year old. Such a tragedy for this little girl to have gone through. I feel for her and hope that she can recover in time. What a sick bastard!!!!

The character of a man is defined by what he says and does. He, in my mind, had already proven to all who cared to pay attention that he could not be relied on…no home, no car, no job (not mentioned but implied), and certainly no pride. I would not trust my sons with him.
I am a single dad and I will sometimes have my friends’ kids for an entire weekend and these children are treated like my own. I would run into a burning house to save them. I cannot conceive ever hurting them. How this man could betray the trust is beyond my comprehension, and she obviously needs some lessons in character assesment. GOOD FOR HER for believing and trusting her child, and more importantly…giving her child a reason to trust her. Pick better friends though.

Rune, I understand exactly what you are saying, and as a former FF, I have run into burning buildings to save children, on many occasions.
While I have no children of my own, I am greatly blessed to have many youngsters in my life and home on a daily basis. Whether they are my relatives, godchildren, or students that I privately tutor in music, I could not fathom ever hurting any of them, nor any other child for that matter.
How any adult could possibly even entertain thoughts of hurting, raping, or killing a child is completely beyond my comprehension, and IMO, the individuals who do perpetrate such heinous crimes should receive the harshest penalties that the law provides.
Lastly, on your most trying days as a single father, please think back to this post, and know that I am now standing and applauding you for your very own ovation.
I have several friends who are single parents, and having been raised by one myself,
I realize how difficult it can be on a daily basis to “keep it all together”, especially in this day and age, when one is juggling work, bills, a home, on top of caring for one’s children 24/7/365.

Before anyone thinks I’m going off on tattoos, I will state for the record that I have more that a few ink spots myself, but IMO, there are some things that one simply should not advertise publicly, and prison time would be on the top of my list.

Prison time? Shiiit… Tear drops are intended to advertise that you killed someone (spider webs are commonly used to illustrate prison time, each “layer” of the web signifying a year spent). And, while I can’t make it out, I’d bet the farm that the neck tattoo is gang affiliated.
I’ve known a lot of gangsters in my short time, and a lot of them are pretty okay people. NONE of them are suitable babysitters. I don’t care if someone admits that gang affiliation was some irresponsible phase they went through a million years ago. Even if I’m not specifically worried that you’d intend to hurt my child, I’d still be worried that you were ever that retarded.

See this is where you guys have the advantage of knowing who lives in your area thats on sexual offender registry.We had a case here in Windsor 2 yrs ago a woman had her 9 yr old grandson overnight and got called into work.So her 30 yr old boyfriend said “hey no probs Ill babysit Brandon while your at work”.Well grandma comes home and Brandons “sleeping” doesnt wake up.Grandma gets worried a little later and checks him and hes dead!!Her boyfriend was a convicted sexual offender and he had raped Brandon and suffocated him and grandmagrandma didnt know he was a registered sexual offender because in Ontario (and I found this out when I called the RCMP the day this happened) according to the RCMP that answered the phone”we dont have one here because sexual offenders are entitled to PRIVACY!!”.So theres no way the grandmother here couldve known.If we had the registry here like you guys have there then I would call and check EVERY person thats new in your life.And to all the Canadians out there that read this I say lets get together and demand a registry be public here in Canada.Our kids deserve to have the right of being safe. I would never leave my children alone with a guy or girl that did not have a job a goal or a dream at all! I am a single parent(male) and I dont even let my son meet any of my girlfriends when he meet one she will potentially be the one I ask to marry, but until then I will keep them a secret. If this guy hurt my son in any way at all I would kill him and thats not a figure of speech I would kill him he is a special person and needs a special place the ground!!!! He is sick and cant be cured he thrives off of sex with young kids and will always do this so unless they are willing to give him life without the possibility of parole he will do it again!

Your right, most people that lose their jobs are not worthless or criminalistic. The article, however, leads me to believe he was a bit of a bum and he was content living of everyone else. That, to me, is the type of person who cannot and should not be trusted to look after a child (male or female). As I stated earlier, and you quoted it,…

The article does not say he recently lost his job, it does not say he got laid off the day before, it says…
All of which leads me, and I think everyone else, to believe he is/was a bum. It does not say he had no job, but it is IMPLIED. No home, No car. That is all that is stated.

Slow down there, Poncho. I know registries seem like a great idea in theory, but in practice, they’re spendy to maintain and relatively useless, as the information is often unreliable and, frankly, most people don’t bother checking them anyway.
That’s horrible sexist and that cop should be ashamed. But, then again, if cops were known for their reason, they’d probably be judges instead. If women want to exclude men from looking after children, I hope they don’t mind when men exclude them from, well, anything physically demanding, for example.
Doesn’t it say in the article (one of them, anyway) that she knew him for “years”? While I think it was poor judgment for mom to leave her child with a man who tries to look like a “thug”, I, too, am hesitant to lay any significant amount of blame on her. People make mistakes, judging character or otherwise. Mom responded to the situation in the best way possible and will be suffering emotionally for her mistake for God only knows how long.

It’sa a gamble.
Taking a life, under any circumstance, is a heavy weight to bear, no matter what the justification. Dunno if I would be able to restrain myself or not. Primal Urge can be very powerful, and I consider myself to be in total control of my emotions. Don’t know if I could control that one. It may be my love for my son that DOES push me over the edge. You’d be doing some time. Even under similar circumstances, it’s rare for someone to get totally acquitted. How much time is the gamble. A murder of this nature would be second degree murder, which generally carries a sentence in excess of a decade. You might be able to plead down to manslaughter and spend a relatively small amount of time in prison, but even then, imagine what that does to your child, having to go through the stress of their parent standing trial immediately after being victimized? You’d only be victimizing your child twice.

I have to agree with Athena. Assuming that men aren’t equipped to care for a child is extremely sexist. Anyone that knows me, knows full well that I am a very PARANOID parent when it comes to who is near my children. My husband has 3 brothers, and all have been alone with my kids. My children adore going over to any of their uncles homes. Now on the other hand, I have female relatives that I would not even leave a lint ball with them, let alone my children.

I can’t say I wouldn’t have quietly gone out and got my gun before calling the police so the A’hole wouldn’t have the chance to run- or the dick to ever hurt another little kid.
I know what is like to not be believed when something like this happens.
When I was 14 and finally told my mom about a close-relative that had been molesting me for years, she didn’t want to believe me so I found someone who did.
When I was 18 and date raped, my local Sheriff’s Dept acted like I was the one who was drinking underage and like I deserved what I got.
I’ll be DAMNED if I would ever leave my girl- OR boy for that matter, with some guy all by himself- especially with gang/ prison tattoos…

Very true Athena, and if anything were to stop me from committing such an act, it would be the thought of my boys having to go through life without me.
If I caught the perv in the act of… NOTHING would stop me. In Colorado, we have laws that say I can legally defend myself or a third party with deadly force if necessary, even in public. In this instance, Vigilante violence after the fact is clearly not as justifiable. I was simply expressing my neolithic cave-man chest-pounding side, which thankfully does not rule my life.
