Severn, MD–In this day and age, it can be quite difficult to bring the whole family together to share common interests and spend quality time with one another. It can be refreshing to spend an evening with the family–maybe dinner and a movie, an entertaining board game, getting all stabby with the cops. This is what memories are made of.

Even the most loving of families have issues from time to time. Jeremy Glodek and his parents are no exception. The family got into a heated argument after Jeremy shut his mother’s arm in a car door. Harsh words were said, and everyone retreated to a neutral corner. Until the police arrived.

911 dispatch received a call on Sunday about a mentally unstable person. When police arrived they found 20-year-old Jeremy Glodek sitting in the passenger seat of a parked car. When officer’s approached the car, Jeremy jumped out of the car and assaulted two officers. I’m guessing that he was the mentally unstable person that was reported. That little outburst prompted police to call in back up. Two more officers showed up at the scene.

As Jeremy was being arrested, 56-year-old Jerald Glodek comes running out of a nearby house. He whipped out a butcher knife from inside his coat and threatened the officers arresting his son. He tried to stab an officer, but missed. Hmmm…maybe he’s the unstable one? A knife is no match for a gun, so after being told, at gunpoint, to kindly drop the knife, he did so.

Debra Ann Glodek was feeling left out of all the fun, so after her husband dropped the knife, she came out of the house and attempted to pick it up. No such luck…the cops were on to her little plan. After she was ordered to stop in her tracks, she struck an officer. Ok, she has to be the mentally unstable one, right?

All three Glodeks are obviously mentally unstable and all three Glodeks were arrested. Jeremy is being charged with several counts of assault and a few lesser charges. Jerald is being charged with attempted second-degree murder, carrying a deadly weapon with intent to injure, assault and related charges. Debra Ann is being charged with second-degree assault, two counts of hindering, and other lesser charges. Tards…

I think it’s sad that everyone hears a story and just automatically thinks its true, the news or police wouldn’t lie to us?? Yeah right, anything to make headlines or make themselves look good. I know what really happened in this story and the headlines could NOT be further from the truth. This family is among the most generous, thoughtful and pleasant people I have every met. What family is without arguments or problems? Everyone putting up negative comments about them should be ashamed of themselves and get a life.

he threw the knife to the side and got down on the ground when they pulled out their guns. the wife came outside to see her husband arrested and her son CONTINUING to be beaten up. she only bent down to see if jerry was okay and they pulled her up cuz she was “going for the knife” that was about 20 yards away……

I could be mistaken, but I thought I read somewhere that he had a warrant for his arrest. Do you think that might have something to do with them trying to arrest him? Whether he was manic or not, if he was resisting they have every right to use force. Also, I would think it is common practice to send police if there is a call for an ambulance for a mentally disturbed person. Why should the EMT’s be at risk? Lastly, the parents are old enough to know better and not try to attacked police officers.

Hmmm… first of all Jeremy did NOT attack them first. He did not have a warrant out for his arrest. His other cases have already passed.

They are lieing about this “butcher knife”. It was a kitchen knife. He didn’t try to stab them. He pointed it at them. And later at the station, the cops were playing with it e “omg watch out…” Ass holes. Think they are so cool for arresting a whole family.

All I know is I’m getting to upset about this and I refuse to get even more upset. I can’t let this bother me as much as it is. I know what truely happened, and everyone can say what they want.

I saw my bf get out of the car and do as the cops said. I dont know what made them attack him.. but i’m sure it was cuz he was acting crazy. i saw the cops laugh at my boyfriend when they had him all tied up. I saw the cop smile as he told debra “oops, looks like you just assaulted an officer”, when all she did was tap his shoulder and say “don’t you grab me”. I was also continually hit on by these cops. They are scum.

Well…. I’m not saying all cops are bad. But these ones are. And this happens to be the first time I’ve dealt with this kind of stuff. Ugh it makes me so mad. They think they know everything about mental illness. They said “oh, hes still in his right mind when he’s in a mania” YEAH RIGHT, GO TO SCHOOL ASS HOLE. He was being a totally different person all weekend. We didn’t know what to do.

PS: Yes, he did have cuts on his face and a black eye. the picture is bad and the flash makes it hard to see.

Oh, and thanks I do have a lot going for me. I will now devote my life to helping people with mental illnesses. This has effected me beyond belief. Now please leave us alone.

I am the granddaughter, daughter and sister of law enforcement officers. We are a VERY close family and I can’t remember one single day of my 47 year life that I haven’t worried about my family answering calls. My brother that I love like my children is still in the business. I have lots of friends that are LE officers. Domestics, Mental, and Hwy 95 drug searches are them most dangerous calls they receive.
Mental, because during manic episodes the adrenaline rushes and the patient has extraordinary strength. (That’s just one of the reasons. Other than just being a fucking fruitcake and not being able to predict their moves based on the behavior of non-fruitcake people as they are trained.)
Now, lets get down to what really pisses me off…this little family of DD is ruining your lives! Put on some fucking big girl panties or get out of the blog!
Have you ever been to an officers funeral, Blackrose? It is one of the most heartbreaking things that you will ever witness. Ever seen his widow at her lowest point when they hand her the hat of her dead husband? Ever seen the children as they weep and receive the flag that was draped over his casket? Ever seen the hollow look of the color guard and other officers that had to carry his casket and watch a commrade be buried? Shit, we haven’t ruined your life. But plenty of skanks like your boyfriend and his family have!!!
One other question, have you ever seen a friend cut by a deranged asshole from shoulder to gut? Ever heard about his difficult recovery? My LE friend that did some locksmith work for me answered a call similar to this one. That is what happened. Luckily he is fully recovered.
I don’t give a damn if it was a butter knife, they all deserved at least a fucking taser!
If you are looking for sympathy or an apology I highly doubt you’ll get one here.

idk. i guess he did provoke them. he got out of the car (as he was told) and as i was getting out of the car, he must of said something mean i guess (i didn’t hear) but all i know is they were beating him up and punching him and i was worried for his safety.

we were trying to get him to go in the house. i had taken him to church and when he started going crazy there and made a scene, i had to get him to get in the car with me so i could take him home. i texted the mom when we got there and she came out to get him. but he was yelling and didn’t want to get out. he didn’t really slam it hard. and anyway, we didn’t call the police about that. it wasn’t that big of a deal, we understood he wasn’t in his right mind.

HA!!! When mugshots are taken, they are unflattering and show much more to the eye than what a kodak camera would take. If you don’t believe me, then take a look at our mugshot hall of fame in the forums. The mother looks like she has 2 black eyes, when in all probability, they are just bags w/dark circles. His skin is somewhat pale, which, in my eyes would show the bruising to his face and scratches as you say he received. He probably did it to himself since you say he was having a manic episode.

So, how big was the kitchen knife. Steak knives are small. Are you saying that’s what it was? If so, how do they confuse a steak knife with a butcher knife?

i had taken him to church and when he started going crazy there and made a scene, i had to get him to get in the car with me so i could take him home. i texted the mom when we got there and she came out to get him. but he was yelling and didn’t want to get out. he didn’t really slam it hard. and anyway, we didn’t call the police about that. it wasn’t that big of a deal, we understood he wasn’t in his right mind.

Not taking sides, but here’s a story for you. I was involved with the sheriffs department years ago
Many, many years ago, there was a situation where 2 cops hit and arrested someone because the person was arrogant but not physical, they hit him in the back with their night sticks a few times as they walked him to their car after he’d been cuffed. He never physically resisted them, he cooperated getting cuffed, and basically just kept telling them he was going to sue their stupid ass. A sergeant NOT on the scene backed up their story, that the person was drunk and physically aggressive. The person was arrested and held for a few hours, but was released by the sheriffs department in charge of the jail, they claimed he was not drunk, and no charges were levied against the arrested party by the arresting cops, yet the police department stood behind the story of the 2 cops and sergeant that claimed to be at the scene but wasn’t. What the sergeant told someone later was, as far as I’m concerned he was drunk when we put him in the elevator ( the jail is on an upper floor of the building) if he was sober when he got to the top, that’s hIs problem. The person somewhat verbally brought it on himself, but the cops all lied, and the sheriffs department, claimed and justly so, they knew nothing about the situation other than the person wasn’t drunk and the police department didn’t press charges so they released him.
No sobriety test was given by the cops or sheriffs department according to the sheriffs, the person didn’t seem intoxicated and the police didn’t charge him for being intoxicated so their was no reason for a sobriety test.
The 2 cops later transfered to police departments in other cities.
As tough as a cops job is, not all cops are good cops, and yes 4 cops would back each other up, the whole department would back them up, handle it internally and quietly. A law suit was brought against the police department but was later dropped, there was a witness to the altercation, but you still had 2 cops and a sergeant sticking together. It wasn’t like the victim was bruised and beat up. This whole situation started with the person standing in his own driveway next to his car which matched the physical description of a vehicle the police were looking for but didn’t have the license plate of.

I, obviously, have no idea what really happened here. I was not there, nor do I know this family. Honestly, the only information I have read about this case was right in Jaded’s story. Anyway, I can’t help but having a little soft spot for this blackrose girl.

Don’t get me wrong, there are WONDERFUL cops in this country. I have police officers in my family and have some friends who are great at what they do. However, I know some corrupt mother fuckers. To say cops haven’t beaten on someone for no reason is ridiculous. I’ve seen it with my own two, non-tard eyes. I’ve had friends in town roughed up by local police just because their girl cheated on him with the dude in high school (for instance).

This has nothing to do with this story, as I have no idea what really happened and this whole family could be bat-shit crazy for all I know. I wish I knew who called the cops and what not; it would help get a clearer picture of what exactly is going on here.

I’m a little late, apparently, but I think we should cut the young gal some slack. She said some stupid things out of frustration (I’m sure she doesn’t want cops to die), but we’ve all done that a time or two.

Cops fuck up and lie about it all the time. Not ALL cops – I’d like to believe the majority of cops are good, hardworking people with the best interests of citizens in mind. But, in my experience, it’s been about 50-50.

Problem is, when it’s civilian vs. cop, the cop wins out every time. Picking up a knife and pointing it at the officers was the worst thing dad could have done. He’s lucky he wasn’t shot as a result which, if these cops were truly bad people, is probably what they would have done.

My guess is, the cops mishandled a situation that they weren’t really trained to respond to (cops often lack training in regard to handling the mentally ill). Upset by this, the family exacerbated the situation by responding to it in the worse way possible, which forced the cops to arrest everyone involved. May they have stretched the truth a bit to justify that decision? Absolutely.

Jenn – The best thing you and this family can do should another situation like this arise is stay calm, and know your rights. Getting riled up or, worse yet, threatening the officers will only justify whatever they choose to do next. If you’ve got a video-enabled cell phone or a camcorder around, record any behavior you find to be questionable. If not, witnesses help, so if you aren’t directly involved, see if you can get some neighbors outside. When things have settled a bit, ask for the commanding officer’s name. When all is said and done, immediately write down all the events as you remember them occurring. This way, should you care to file a complaint or contact a lawyer, you’ve got as much information as possible.

This Jeremy kid’s a cutie and, Jenn, if he treats you well, that’s that. But be sure that you’re taking care of yourself. I’m sure the urge to be there for your boyfriend is overwhelming, but if it puts you in a bad or dangerous situation, that’s not good for anyone involved. I hope Jeremy is able to get the help he needs, I hope his parents can file this episode into the “how NOT to react to cops” folder, and I hope you’re being responsible about your life choices. Good luck with it all.

That’s exactly what I was stating. In my opinion, after reading several articles written on other news sites about this situation, the story posted on this site states the same details as posted in the news.

When two more officers arrived, Jerald allegedly pulled out a butcher’s knife and attempted to stab an officer. He had second thoughts when officers drew their guns and ordered him to put the knife down.

Again, compared to the news articles, this version seems incorrect.

Flaming, For your information, the initial report DID state that the family was arguing inside a car. That doesn’t mean every one of them were seated inside the car – and it doesn’t mean they were all just sitting there when cops arrived.

The kid was in the car, the girlfriend was apparently in the car, and mom’s arm apparently got slammed in the door. Obviously there was a struggle out at the car with family members who WERE inside the car. I can easily see why police interpreted it as a family “out in a car” arguing.

If you’re going to split hairs down to that degree….then you must surely be prepared to come with a minute by minute factual account, since it’s likely they were all over the place during the incident.

I chose not to get into that level of detail on this case… as this blog often does.

That’s a very unfair statement. Our authors care very much about the truth, perhaps even more so than traditional news outlets because, for us, it’s not about the ratings. It’s about spotlighting those in our community who behave irresponsibly or malignantly. It’s why we update and revise stories when more accurate information comes available and will entertain contact from family members of the accused.

Misreporting does us no favors; accuracy is in our best interest. However, surely you can understand why we cannot simply take the word of those who claim to know the facts. News reports are, generally, the most reliable information we’ve got available, even if they are not always impeccably accurate.

UMM WTF? Did I miss something??? A lot of excuses and justifications for the fact that 3 people assaulted the police who were responding to a 911 call is what Im seeing. 3 People attacked officers trying to save these people from themselves!!! The family is nice…umm o-k…that makes it ok to threaten lives of those sworn to serve and protect? WTF-ever Maybe if they spent more time being so nice they wouldnt have found themselves in this horror show. And it just so happens that ALL the cops who responded are all rougue officers who thought it would be a good time to pick out a family to fuck with? Yeah right.
People like this and those that defend them really piss me off. What would the scene have played out as if the cops didnt show up or if they did show up and did nothing? When that kinda shit happens, then talk about lawsuits and abuse.

i think it actually ‘is’ fair athena. but i base that on my own personal relationship with the family and not having witnessed what took place. to someone who doesn’t know this family, it’s easy to see rather horrid mugshots, read about attacking police officers and butcher knives, and then make suppositions about this episode demonstrating the decline of western civilization as a whole. i know mr. glodek well enough to give him the benefit of a couple hundred doubts. and i’ll defer to him over a local newspaper account until he tells me…..’no stymie. it’s pretty much how it was reported.’ knowing jerry though, he’d follow it with ‘but they were beating up my kid.’

I rarely comment on story details because you all seem to articulate my thoughts before I have the chance (and I am sure others feel the same way). Styme, you seem to have misunderstood. You said that this blog doesn’t necessarily care about truth, when, in fact, we necessarily do, as it is essential to our daily operations and reputation. If you understand, how can you hold the fact that we don’t know the family personally against us? Do you realize that we have the family members and friends of child rapists and killers saying this same thing? We rely on facts to determine the truth, not testamony from relatives of the accused.

If this is not the truth and these charges they face are either dropped or they are acquitted, the article will reflect that. But, no matter how good you know these people to be, their alleged response to the situation was very wrong, even if officers were roughing up the young man who had just assaulted multiple people, including his own mother.

You know what, I believe the girlfriend. Well, except for the first bit – I think he must’ve gotten out of the car and at least looked like he was going for the cops if not having fully attacked them. Otherwise, there doesn’t seem to be any reason the cops would’ve taken him out of the car, and perhaps the situation would’ve stayed low-key. I also don’t see any other way for this whole thing to have gone down. Having seen how my local law enforcement deals with people I know who are mentally ill, the cops are the last people I’d call if someone I cared about was having an episode, short of feeling that person a threat to other people’s lives. Calling 911 was the first mistake, and maybe not avoidable. But call their Dr, do everything you can to get them into the ER yourself first. Encounters with police rarely go well, ya know? Maybe the threat of cops settles some crazy people, but it totally sets others off – especially the paranoids. I totally understand dad inserting himself foolishly if they were beating his son – not only is it his son, he has the extra burden of guilt for having called the damn cops in the first place (and I do think I see a bruise by that kid’s eye.) Things spiral that way. And I don’t have anything against cops – but I don’t think they’re morally any better than any other group of people. Like folks anywhere, there’s the good, the bad, and gray. But I’d say mainly their goal is to protect people from the crazies, not protect your crazy, and I don’t think any training they recieve in dealing with the mentally ill changes that essential perspective.
