night Logan Suter, 17, was having another rough night with his stepdad, Edward Christopher Lancaster. An argument broke out. Nobody’s sure what happened next, but by the time it was over, the 33-year-old Lancasterlancaster was dead of a gunshot wound to the stomach and Logan Suter was being charged with second-degree murder. Cut and dried, right? Well… maybe.
Nothing about this case is as easy at it looks at first glance. Not even Logan’s actual name. It’s been reported as Matthew Logan Suter and as Logan Matthew Suter. In various references to him on the internet, he’s called Logan by his friends. His Facebook lists him as Logan Matthew Suter. I’m just calling him Logan.
Edward Christopher Lancaster, called Chris, has a very interesting history of his own. He and Logan’s mother married after the 2002 murder of Lancaster’s wife, Renee. Renee Lancaster, 27, was shot eight times in 2002 and left dead on the side of a road. Chris Lancaster was not charged with his wife’s murder – two other people, Kenneth Byrd and Roswitha Morrison, were convicted and are now in prison doing about ten years each for the crime. In their trials, Byrd and Morrison pled self-defense. Chris Lancaster was left with two children to raise.
Enter Logan Suter’s mom, Lori Suter. She also had two children, and the blended family seemed to do all right. But Logan and Chris didn’t get along. My sources say that Logan complained of verbal abuse and physical fights between him and his 6′1″, burly stepdad. One friend posted a comment at WRAL.com saying that Chris Lancaster had allegedly pulled a knife on Logan. Another commenter there noted that Lancaster had allegedly brandished a taser at his daughter’s birthday party and threatened children with it. My sources say that Lancaster could be abusive – but there’s no court record of abuse.
So I don’t know exactly what happened. Was there motive? Probably, but whether the motive was revenge or self-defense or just “I hate my stepdad”, I don’t know. Right now, there are more questions than answers. Chris Lancaster died Sunday night, shortly after the ambulance got him to the hospital. Logan Suter was arrested and charged as an adult with second-degree murder. He is being held at the Harnett County Detention Center on $150,000 bond.

Far too frequent we hear of the nightmares that exist between a boy and a new step father. I feel as though expressing my opinion when I have no real details would be unfair so I wont. I do, however, have my ideas. A lot of times Mom falls in love but refuses to put her children first. He choses the man over her children and so we have an immediate conflict as anyone could see. Devil’s advocate… some boys are used to being the man of the family and when someone comes in and attempts to take over that roll,again there are issues. Though this would easily upset a boy, muder is still unexcuseable. Again…until further details are released, there isnt too much to say.

Maybe the mother was keeping the abuse quiet like some women do for their penises. Maybe this kid was beaten over and over and verbally abused as well , maybe he just had enough of it. i dont condone what he did, but if he was an abused kid, then i say call it self defense and move on…if he did it just cause he didnt like the man, thats a different story. But I have a feeling he was probably abused.

“According to the investigation report, Mr. Suter told officers shortly before his arrest, “I shot him. I thought he was going to hurt me. I’m going to jail forever, ain’t I?”

The victim’s wife dying a violent death and then him…hmmmm, says a lot about who they surround themselves w/. Hard to believe this could be a sad coincidence?

It’s being reported that Mr. Lancaster had been in prison, and recently got out (in the last year.)

Chris was a mean man, He and his dad was a thief. And why would you buy a gun for your son when you were arrested for a gun charge and just got out of jail. His mom said he was trying to change well then why did he break in a house a few weeks ago. What a joke. He didnt deserve to be killed but probably did provoke it. He was always talking trash and thought he was the BIG MAN…

lol, it’s kind of hard to hide my identity.. maybe i should’ve been smarter about my choice of username but at any rate,
i know logan (yeah, we call him logan.) and even though we weren’t ever the best of friends he’s the guy that you know always has something going on and he just never seemed happy; he’s in ROTC so i guess that’s where he finally got the guts to pull the trigger, but whatever kind of person Chris was, he deserved what he got and i don’t think logan’s going to go down on this one.

As a close friend of Logan’s father and stepmother I am sure they appreciate all of the support for Logan. Please keep in mind there are always two sides to every story and I know in my heart that Logan would never maliciously harm anyone or anything.
If someone had made Logan’s father and stepmother aware of the situation they would have gotten him out of it before it was to late.

My dad was not a bad person.. so everyone that has commented & said he was you need to get the facts & details til you start saying all this false stuff. My dad was not perfect but NO ONE is, he was a normal person who did not deserve to die like this, Mr. Logan & my dad were close but logan don;t have no kind of displain, he is a spulled lil bratt that deserves all the time that the law gives him in jail. The story is logan cant control his angry my dad NEVER put one finger on Mr.Logan Suter. So if anyone needs dirty talk about them is Logan. Mrs.Kelly you didn’t even know my dad so you don’t need to talk trash about him got it. I love my daddy so much he was the best father to me & my lil brother C.J. so as far as that goes i have nothing else to say.

I’m wondering where the mother was in all this. Threatening kids with bodily harm with a taser or any other weapon is unacceptable. Kelly is right, abuse is not always physical.
And who gives a 12-year-old boy a 12-gauge shot gun AND allows him to keep it in his room?!? I mean damn, I’m from Texas and as pro-gun as you can get but I also think guns have a place…it’s called a gun cabinet or a gun safe. Furthermore, if he was recently released from prison I’m pretty sure there should not have been a firearm in the home.
It’s hard to form an opinion with such limited information.

other than that. i knew about the family, and hearing from school, TV, and the police reports on chris. he was a horrible man. I really think he is, maybe he didn’t deserve death, but he should’ve gone back to jail.

I think Chris will have to answer to the man up stairs as well if he makes it up there. Its ashame that when someone dies that all of a sudden that are made out to be a saint. Well it doesn’t work that way, you can say he was a loving father as much as you want and he may have been to Chelsea and CJ but he wasn’t nice as a whole person. And what about his little girl. What kind of “NICE MAN” abandons the mom while she is pregnant and have little to do with all of their children. You cant pick and choose the kids you are going to love and take care of. And he wasnt really there for his DAD except when it benefited Chris…. WAKE UP AND FACE REALITY!!!!

To be honest, i agree. If this wouldn’t have happen. I think Logan would have been killed. He would say how he was always being abused and not JUST physically either. It was a shame. He never had the proper stuff for school and he sometimes wore the same clothes again in the same week and he said that they hadn’t been washed. That’s sad. Being his friend I know he was a good person and all the teachers keep saying how they want to be there for him. I think that says a lot for Logan as a person.

From the way the story goes it almost sounds like the gun was already loaded. I know a lot of gun nuts and they would never give a 12 gauge shot gun to a 12 year old, and top it off by letting him keep it in his room with ammo.

Ok, to start i am Edward’s oldest daughter. To start off this the gun was on a gun lock, ok, there was no ammo in the room ( well there wasn’t suppose to be ) so the ones who want to run there mouth need to SHUT it ok. People who run there mouth without knowing the truth piss me off. Its a damn shame that people live in this world & think that murder is the solution to a problem. This all coming from a child who has had numerous run ins with the local authorities and she is only 14. A product of her environment.
Logan had never been in any kind of trouble until now (8 months after he went to live with mother and this “wonderful” man). He was coaxed by Chris and Lori (his mother) to go and live with them because they wanted as much free money as they could possibly get.
Chris and Lori were allowing Logan and Chelsea to drink, have sex and smoke pot in their home.
Logan was abused (physically or emotionally) by his stepfather (Chris). If he had been left alone and Chris and Lori had not been so greedy, he would not have been in this situation.
Logan lived with his dad and stepmom (Mike and Lisa) for six years. They provided for him when his mother wouldn’t even pay child support. He never went without food and he never wore torn and dirty clothes to school.
You want facts, these are the facts.

Also, keep in mind during those 8 months Lori and Chris were telling Logan that his dad and step mom didn’t love him or want him. That is why he felt he didn’t have a way out.

ok well, those are not the facts. They are false, logan mathew suter had more clothes then me & my lil brother put together but thats just because he was a lil brat. He will get justice believe me he will, and he was the one that always said that Mike & lisa didnt love him so dont go there you cant put all the blame on my father yea he want perfect but you see no one is so Stop acting like it. Logan wasnt a little brat he did have a few NICE clothes that i think his girlfriend bought him. Also wasnt her mom also taking taking him to place more than his own mother (like stores,practice, and home) Also i know for a fact that she bought his school supples. By the way chris was an asshole he was in the kkk, had nurmerous meth charges that he mysteriously got out of (narc) went to prison for owning a fire arm as a felon, he was a thief. He tried total strangers like shit and would run his mouth to anyone. You said he was turning his life around well he did a great job didnt abusing his children and his wife, startiing a fight and pulling a gun on one of his wifes male friends. Also didnt he hit you as well its amazing how when some on gets killed in this kind of way they some how become a saint. yeah i kno for a fact it was to save his own life if the action wasnt taking we would be reading about Logan instead of chris. So all for you how thinks this young man ( a brilliant student,good frriend and loved by almost everyone that knew him) is a murder fuck you

Well I just found out some information that will make someone else’s void. I went to Chelsea’s myspace and she said that she was going to be a mom. Now it said in the news she was 14. Is she proud of that. I don’t know what kind of person would be excited about that, but her boyfriend who is 16 sure seems like it too. Yea I see now the people that are talking to the news and their information doesn’t mean a thing anymore. These seem like some crazy messed up individuals.
