Thomas Van-Hook Offers His Services

Jasper, TX–Thomas Van-Hook, 55, is offering up cheap babysitting services. For a paltry $12.00, Van-Hook will take care of the little buggers for the entire weekend. You must be thinking to yourself, ‘What’s the catch?’ Well, Van-Hook has one requirement…they must be female children and they must be between the ages of 11 months and 9 years.
Over the last couple of weeks, Van-Hook’s flyers have been popping up all over the place in Jasper County. Here is a copy of the ad:
Being that this is the Dreamin’ Demon, you probably aren’t surprised at the fact that Van-Hook is a registered sex offender. He has victimized at least three little girls in the past; a 3-year-old in 1986, and two girls, aged 4 and 6, in 1995. He was convicted each time for indecency with a child by exposing himself. And here he is in 2009 looking for some new victims.
Authorities were having a difficult time trying to find a way to charge Van-Hook with a crime…he was off parole and had completed all necessary sentencing requirements. Van-Hook had no stipulations to stay away from children, even though he is classified as a high-risk offender.
A law enforcement source told The Examiner that Van-Hook’s latest victim may be a 2-year-old girl. ‘From what I was told they began investigating this after a little girl was left with him,’ the source said. ‘Because she is so young she can’t make an outcry and unless he injured her the exam isn’t going to reveal anything. And because he has served his time, I am not sure what we can do about it until he victimizes another child. This guy is a sick bastard.’ I second that.
Authorities stated that they are not aware of anyone that has responded to Van-Hook’s advertisements, nor are they aware of any recent victims. They do wish to speak with anyone who may have left their child with Van-Hook. I’d also like to have a word or two with any parent that would leave their child with a pervy old geezer.
To top off the whole ‘ick’ factor, in 2004, Van-Hook fired off a 7-page letter to Procter & Gamble Company, the makers of Pampers diapers. Van-Hook asked them if they would show more genital shots in their commercials. He thought that their commercials should show a little girl laying on a couch for a diaper change ‘with her little legs wide open.’ He also thinks that diaper wipes should be used on girls as old as nine. This was the closing line in his nasty manifesto folks; ‘there should not be a problem of your showing a nine-year-old girl’s beautiful, pretty little hairless …’ Um, W.T.F. The P & G Company shot a copy of the letter to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department.

. He’s being held on $300,000 bond. I’m not finding a whole lot of information on this guy and I have no idea what he is being charged with. Let’s hope that whatever they charge him with, it sticks.

And holy cats. There really could be a case made that anyone dumb enough to put up those ads and send that P&G missive is mentally incompetent and a danger to himself or others. In this case, little girl others. A nice locked unit for dementia patients and a little Haldol/Depo-Provera cocktail ought to help keep him under control.

No, this is a case of a guy who simply slipped through some cracks, and continues to do so. He was charged several times and presumably seen by multiple judges, none of whom could do much of anything considering the crimes he committed (exposing himself vs. something more serious like rape). I’d say this has illustrated a significant hole in Texas law. The question is, will they do anything to close it?
While I do hate the prospect of anyone getting hurt by circumstances like these, I’m glad that they show just how ineffective registries are. Much like protective orders, they don’t actively protect anyone.

Seriously? Ok really? Now im forced to put myself in the “parent’s shoes”. Although I have no kids yet, still, when I see a man that looks like this, I most certainly would not even concider leaving my children with him. I know we aren’t supposed to judge a book by its cover but serisously? Not to sound sexist by any means… but doesnt an older man “babysitter” send up a red flag to anyone else?? I think its poor decision making on the parent’s behalf.
Now as for him. There is obviously no excuse for him to see daylight. The justice system, for some ungodly reason, allows these pervs to live a (for the most part) “normal life” post jail. How is that right? You rape children! For shits sake. I really cant think of a worse crime. This country just asks for repeted offenders. Its like we have accepted it.
