Not an excuse – no excuse for facilitating the abuse of your child. But I bet the mom was also abused and it utterly warped her views of the situation. Fear and pain can turn people into monsters. Again, not an excuse – she’s a grown up and failed to protect her baby. Just a possible “why.”

American History X is a great movie, it’s very thought provoking. I highly recommend it, unless you can’t tolerate movie violence.

And what’s wrong with Cat Ladies now? I’m offended to the core of my being by these slanderous LIES.

It is a vicious movie and very poingient as well! My husband is black and he was dumbfounded by it-however, he is an educator (well high school principal) and he felt like it should have been a part of curriculum. There is a strong message in there-if you can handle the true reality of the actual violence in it…

Thank you. That is simply the point I was making. I certainly did not mean to offend to anyone. The movie is very informative. I also, have black friends. I would NEVER suggest a certain punishment based on skin color/sexual orientation/religion..etc. The movie is a hit amung not just the white population, but the black population as well. I agree, it should be taught as a part of high school cirriculum. I dare reccomend “High School”, as the movie contains violence and crude language, but it truly is an amazing movie.

Not defending this “mother” by any stretch of the imagination, but I’d venture to guess that to have such a warped mentality she must have had the same thing happen to her as a kid. Seems to her that it’s just “normal” for a dad to rape his daughter.

american history x? How old approximately is the movie? I have on demand and if that’s the name I do not have it, but it changes every few weeks so I will look out for it. I love a good movie and I hear Edward Norton is hawt =)

I think the movie is at least 7-9 yrs ago maybe a bit more but I remember it was on satellite and I couldnt watch it.Anything like that my husband watchs while im sleeping I dont so well with violent movies,or scary movies lol.

Heh… I don’t really know anything about animal rescues. The title would have to be, “Animan Rescues: Full of crazy people?” and when you open the thread it would simply say, “Discuss.” Because that’s about all I can add to the subject.

Except, when I live in the hood, the neighbor across the alley ran a rescue for sharpeis. In the summer time, the dogs (of which she had 7, give or take, of all different colors) would lay along her cement walkway in her yard… and it would look like they were melting from the heat.

Just to be clear – I didn’t say all people involved in animal rescue are crazy. I said rescues are full of crazy people. And I know it’s inflammatory, but I stand by my opinion. I’ve worked with and volunteered for rescues, spent years fostering dogs, so it’s not as though I’ve based my opinion on Elllen’s experience, I just thought that highlighted nationally the problems in adopting a pet from a rescue. I don’t believe you ladies are crazy, or cat collectors – and cat ladies aren’t what I had in mind when I used the word crazy. See, 3 unannounced visits? To me, that’s crazy. My family doesn’t even visit me unannounced. Even if you’re already pulling onto my street, you better call before knocking on the door, heh.
