Hazleton, PA – Mary Deoleo, 21, is a young single mother to three-year-old Brianna. And sometimes young mothers do stupid things, especially if there isn’t a lot going on upstairs to begin with. But letting your baby walk around for a week with a burn that covered her entire right butt cheek? Not taking the child to the doctor? Waiting until the burn stuck to Brianna’s clothes and broke open every time she moved? Not even giving your baby a Tylenol to help with the pain?
That’s not stupidity, denizens. That’s some serious bullshit parenting, right there. And the Hazleton Police Department agrees with me.
On December 17, Mary Deoleo took little Brianna to the hospital emergency room with what the arrest affidavit described as a severe burn to the buttocks. Mary told the ER doctor that she had been getting Brianna ready for a shower on SundaySunday reviews
, three days before. As Mary told it, Brianna “accidentally fell against a space heater.” That story didn’t really fly, so Deoleo changed her story to say that actually, Brianna had (get this) fallen asleep against the heater and didn’t wake up until her entire right buttock was blistered and peeling off.
Oddly enough, doctors and police didn’t buy it. Especially since the burn was more like five days old, not three. Brianna was transferred to another hospital with a burn unit for treatment, and detectives interviewed her mother again, who eventually admitted that the burn had happened on December 12, not the 14th as she had originally said.
When asked why she deliberately neglected to get medical treatment for Brianna for five days after the burn, Mary Deoleo told a detective that she “did not have a telephone in her home or access to a cell phone.” But even after Mary’s phone service was restored a few days later, she didn’t call anyone for help. In fact, Mary Deoleo had friends over and could easily have told someone that Brianna was hurt – but she never did. Even her boyfriend, who had been gone when Brianna was burned, apparently didn’t know the toddler had been burned.
Deoleo told police that she really started to get worried on December 15, when Brianna’s clothing got stuck to the wound. Every time Brianna would move, the burn would open up. December 15 was a Monday. Mary waited two more days to get Brianna to the hospital. She said that yes, she knew that Brianna needed a doctor, but she didn’t get her help because she was “afraid the child would be taken away from her”. Which sounds great, right, except get THIS – Mary Deoleo only gave Brianna pain reliever ONE TIME during the five days after the burn. ONCE.
ONCE.
Burns are excruciatingly painful. A burn that rips open and sticks to clothing because it doesn’t have any kind of covering or cream on it can be positively unbearable. I have no idea how little Brianna was able to do anything at all during those days unless the burn was so deep that her nerve endings were destroyed – which seems likely. In which case, she’ll need full thickness skin grafts over the entire right side of her little bottom. Thanks, Mom! A lifetime of scar tissue – just what every little girl wants for Christmas!
When Mary was asked if she “would seek medical attention if she had a similar wound herself”, guess what her answer was? If you guessed “of course I would, that would hurt a lot“, you’re probably right. The affidavit just says Deoleo answered with “yes“.
Mary Deoleo was arrested and charged with felony child endangerment. She was arraigned in district court on FridayFriday reviews, and is being held in the Luzerne County Jail on $5,000 bond.

How can a person sees a baby in pain and do nothing to relieve the pain, I can never understand that. This person has to be truly dumb or have a hart made of stone. She deserves to feel what that little angel felt for 5days.

One time I wrapped my daughters elbow in ice/dosed up with Motrin and let her sleep thru the night after a fall from her pony in the afternoon – felt like killing myself the next morning when the x-ray showed that her lil elbow was broken. So yeah, I can identify with delaying treatment/hoping for the best mindset after an injury – - but to NOT EVEN DRESS THE WOUND and WAIT DAYS???
I gladly sat thru the questions from the angry Dr. and staff – they took my daughter to a different room to ask if her elbow was really from a fall from the pony (& this was 15 years ago) Ultimately they could tell we were telling the truth and nothing they said could punish me more than I was punishing myself, ya know?

What kind of kidlet would stay quiet during those days? At minimum she would have been very cranky… that alone should have spurred a doctor visit.
Mom probably waited until she couldn’t stand the whining any longer… or one of those “friends” threatened to report her.

Yep one of her friends probrably threatened to turn her in because if she listened to her for a week I dont think she would have a problem letting her go another week!!Burns are the most painful and DEADLIEST wounds there is.Infection sets in fast and deep.I hope someone else takes her home from the hospital although I dont see her released anytime soon.She will probrably be in burn unit on I.V antibiotics for quite some time ,then the grafts begins!!
I just wonder if the truth is that she fell asleep against a heater?

That’s sad Auddie, I’m sorry you and your daughter had to go through that! Unfortunately it’s because of people like this though, ya know. There is no excuse, my daughter would of gone to the hospital that night, but honestly sleeping against a space heater……let’s have a little more common sense Mom!!! I hope Brianna makes a full recovery and doesn’t have to suffer to much while recovering.

Burns are the most painful type of injury to the skin that is possible. This is just so wrong. Yeah, I’ve had broken bones and delayed going to the Dr. because I wasn’t sure. That’s a whole different thing than delaying treatment for an acute injury such as a burn. I can’t imagine anyone waiting. And that a three year old didn’t remove herself from the heat source when the pain began is just ridiculous. Of course she would have–if she’d been able. Whether she was drugged or forcibly held down, I obviously don’t know, but this baby’s burn injury wasn’t accidental.
What a horrible, horrible person her mother is.

Poor baby Brianna. WTF is w/ all these young people having kids and not knowing how or flat out neglecting these kids?! We really need to start teaching birth control and/or parenting in middle and high schools MORE. These kids are having kids and killing them, mistreating them, abusing them or allowing them to be abused! Really sad.

OMG stupid mothers!!!! She gives young moms a very bad name I am 23 and have 2 boys and another baby on the way. My children come first no matter what I do And I just wish all these stupid cunts couldnt have kids. My son put his hand on the oven door when I was taking out cookies. I didnt even know he had came in the kitchen!!! I dropped everything I was doing ran his hand under cold water and called the doctor right away! Gave him tylenol put some burn ointment on it and took him to the ER!!!! Common sense if you think it hurts it probably hurts 10 times worst for a child! I hope she sits on the space heater until she melts to it!!!!

That picture tells a story all by itself. That has to be the saddest – looking baby I have ever seen. Most babies being hugged by Mom look happy, this poor child looks worried and sad. Poor child, POS Mom. And there’s no way a baby could accidentally burn their entire buttock that deeply. The child would move away from the heat source. I call BS on the accidental, too.

I’m going to have to call bullshit on the burn being accidental, same as everyone else here. First of all, who in the hell lets their baby sleep next to a space heater? Those things aren’t exactly safe. And then she doesn’t get her baby medical attention for five days? How did she stand the screaming? How did this child do anything except for writhe in agony? Unless, of course, the poor little mite is used to being abused.
I hope they give that baby to someone who will love her and take better care of her. She deserves better than her worthless, piece of shit mother gave her! And I hope the stupid cunt does the responsible thing and gets her tubes tied. She isn’t fit to reproduce. Am I harsh? Hell, yeah! But not as harsh as a severe burn that goes untreated for five days.

Actually I have slept thru a bad burn with a heating pad once. But I was drugged up to my eyeballs.
Seems to me that would be the only way to sleep thru a burn. Especially if you fell asleep some where cold and it got hot.
Any way where was Mommy ? What kind of mother would leave her toddler alone long enough to fall asleep next to a heater?

As I was reading here, I thought,
MY GOD, she has no bond with her child at all. She realized that if she was burned that it would “hurt alot”, however could NOT empathize that the same was happening to her child.
There is no bond. No cross communication, no active empathy, understanding or personal attachement. Generally a mothers love involves a love so deep that her pain is my pain, and her needs are my needs and and her tears make me cry—type love.
She objectivified her daughter, and probably would have more empathy and understanding for a limping puppy.

Summer before last when we went to the beach, and our daughter was 7, my husband put her sunscreen on. She ended up changing bathing suits from a one-piece to a 2-piece. And guess who forgot her lower back was now exposed and she would need more sunscreen? Well, I blamed him at first but really I should have noticed too. That night, when her back was bright red, we realized what had happened. She didn’t complain at that point, and I thought maybe she was going to be fine. But by the next day, blisters were starting to form. I called the doctor and I was told that infection could come with the blisters and to bring her in right away. She had to get ointment for it and keep it covered while it healed, and stay out of the sun completely until it was completely healed. We canceled our plans to meet my brother at a water park the next week, because she could not be in the sun even with it covered.
If a sunburn can be that serious, little Brianna’s burn was deadly serious and she’s lucky her baby made it through. Mother genes are definitely seriously missing from this young mom to let her child suffer for so long. Poor baby. Hopefully there’s a grandma, aunt, somebody who can step in and give that precious girl some real love and care!

First off I would like to start by saying that I am brianna’s god mother….
I think this whole article and website at that is filled with ludacris assumptions…
Nothing in this fake sad cops tale is true and the person who put this up and may I add that many things that were written were not only added to the story but in fact pure lies….
Nobody in this blog were there and nobody here can justify themselves for the things they are saying feel how you feel..it is sad to think that people like you guys co exist with us in humanity…taking whatever you hear or read and going along with it …when in fact there are bigger issues out there that need real attention..this is all an act of pure ignorance and you guys are all sad and lame for participating in dominishing another beings name…
Let’s start by getting the story and truth out there straight….Mary was taking brianna a shower and wrap in her towel in the split second that Mary turned her back to get her clothes brianna tripped and fell on the heater…brianna cried out and Mary DID PUT OIMENT CREAM ON HER AND GAVE HER PAIN MEDICATION TO EASE THE PAIN!!!!!

In the days that follow mary did take brianna to multiple clinics where she was denied service because they wouldn’t accept her acess card…if we are going to waste time blogging why don’t we blogg about that…
AND IN ALL THIS TIME THE BABY WAS BEING TAKEN CARE OF AT HOME FINE AND GIVEN PAIN MEDICATION..I KNOW BECAUSE I SAW HER!!!
So mary had to go to welfare and lets not even talk about that…in the end she was told of a place where they would accept her and look at her burn….
After the doctors at this one hospital saw her the accusations started to come up and speculations…nobody cares that the baby was denied health care at these multiple clinics
So brianna was transfer to Allen Hospital where a BURN SPECIALIST saw her and confirmed that it was in fact a heater burn and it was being treated fine and brianna was given the same cream her mother putting on her all along and sent home with her family….
The next day the cops came and took brianna from her loving home and mary was locked up only to be release later…
I wonder why was she release there is noooo evidence agaisnt her…..
Mary and her Boyfriend came to PA from NY this past summer with the intentions of providing brianna a better life…As a young mother there’s nothing more she would want than to give her daughter a better life….
In a matter on a couple of months they manage to accomplish a 2 story house with 3 bedroom one for brianna which is beutiful and decorated just for her a nemo wonderland…A car and a good paying job….
At three brianna talks in two languges…knows how to read which I think is the result of her mother reading to her everyday…
Brianna is a member of a large extended family who will be traveling from all over the world to PA to show love and support for mary in this grave time in need….
NOW lets talk about how the person who wrote this base on speculation is nothing but an old person who doesn’t know from left to right…
There are bigger issues out there like save darfur …war in iraq…our corrupt health service why not focuse and give attetion to issues that deserve it……
Honestly more than half of this family are educated people that are more than willing to put up a fight…Brianna was never in need of anything and it is sad to what this has come to…I myself will be here until she is back home with her family where she needs and derseves to be…

One of my very best friends on earth works out of Allentown for ALL PENNSYLVANIA HOSPITALS to get benefits for those who do not have benefits so that NOBODY is EVER denied urgent care in the WHOLE STATE. If I am not mistaken St Joseph’s medical center is in that area correct??? I know without a doubt that is one of HER hospitals… so nice try titi……. and if that was my kids I’d tell them do what you have to and bill me. That’s just me.

First of all u ignorant prick…allen hospital is about an hour away from where she lives if you know how to read you would’ve noticed that it was in Allen that she finally received the care she needed…I never once wrote that it was in allen where she was denied service…you don’t know anything about brianna or her life!!!! Brianna will come back to her family so pssst that!!!…..And the BURN SPECIALIST said so himself that the burn was treated just fine!!!!! What even sadder is it’s always the system. “it’s the systems fault she denied healthcare.”
I’ve never seen anyone denied healthcare at any ER in America. Sure, they may transfer the person to another hospital due to the fact that they don’t have insurance, but since they were able to accomplish “a 2 story house, and a new car” then I’m sure they could accomplish getting healthcare for their child. And a phone for that same home. I mean, they had the internets because she had a myspace that was logged on to recently, why couldn’t they get a phone. I would rather drive a chitty-chitty-bang-bang than a new car if it meant getting health insurance for my child.
But, still she waited….and waited….and waited….till she realized that the skin was peeling off of her baby’s bottom……what kind of a mother would do that….I wouldn’t care if CPS took my child away due to a burn on her bottom, I would rather her get treatment than none at all.
And honey, this is a public shaming site. We care about all that other stuff you listed, but we care more about the future of America, because the children listed here and that are still alive, are the future. So worry about what’s going on here first, then you can worry about what’s going on everywhere else.

The burn was not severe and it was being treated at home with the best care possible and was never peeling off her bottom would you know that NOO why because you were not there…when I saw her she was fine….
Like I said a burn specialist said so himself that the burn was given proper care but would you know about that nooo…insteade you are basing your judgement on bad journalism….

And yes it is safe to say that the system is fucked up at 20 yrs old I myself was denied service with a broken leg and now at 21 and a college graduate have oner 100 of thousands of dollars in medical bills and haven’t even begun to pay my college loan bills or started my career at that..

I SAID SHE WORKS OUT OF ALLENTOWN !!! That means her office is in Allentown, therfore she “works out of Allentown.” You are right, I do not know Mary and Brianna. I do however know that in PA there is a whole staff of people who are in the hospitals daily getting coverage for people who need it. My friend is a supervisor, she goes from hospital to hospital, one of which is St. Joseph’s. So I know, had Brianna been taken there she would have had coverage. I sure hope that Mary is a great mom and that this was all a tragic mistake, if that is the case Mary will get Brianna back. She was afraid of having her taken away, and by not getting her help that is exactly what happened, and her daughter suffered a great deal because of it. For future reference, someone should look into “CHIP” Pennsylvania’s Child Health Insurance Program for Brianna. All kids are eligible. Most kids are free, unless the parents make a lot of money, they qualify but have co-pays.

And what makes you think my family is not a working class family. I pay for health insurance regarding my family. My husband works his ass off to pay for the place we live in. We have a land line, we have cell phones, we have cars and they are older than shit, but you know, it called priorities. She admitted herself she waited 5 days before she took baby Brianna to the hospital because she was suposedly denied care previously.
What’s funny, is that I am a 21 year old with a 3 year old and yet, I would never leave my child near a space heater because they could possible burn themselves. You can teach a what hot and cold are. And since you say that Brianna is as smart as you say, she should know what is hot and cold. But, your excuse is going to be that she tripped and fell.

I’m am not googling nobody…This site was brought to my attention by a low life that wanted to send Mary a message through myspace not knowing that it is I that read it…
So I’m the prick but what are you then for following it..
Mary july never agree to waiting 5 days like I said this is just one side of the story base on false journalism…

This family only has about 3 to 4 months starting here in PA had it been in NY she would’ve been rushed to her hospital where they know her…
