Oconee County, GA–Damita Peak, 35, and her husband, 37-year-old Norris Walker confuse discipline with torture. Discipline=grounding child from outside activities. Torture=pelting child with pellet gun. Discipline=removing misc. electronics and/or toys from child. Torture=spraying child in face with pepper spray. See where I’m going with this?
Thursday afternoon, a 6-year-old boy reported to his teacher the abuse his 12-year-old brother was enduring at home. The 12-year-old, who we will call John, was being tortured. He was locked into a dark closet for hours at a time, handcuffed to a clothes rack, a jug was used as his makeshift toilet. He was sometimes tied up with shoelaces. He was shot at with a pellet gun at close range, sprayed with pepper spray. He was sometimes forced to sleep on the kitchen floor. He was beaten. John described the abuse through pictures drawn for police officials and forensic examiners. The pictures showed a child on his knees, face against the wall, handcuffed and tied to a clothes rack. His parents call that discipline. Investigators documented bruising to the boy’s chest, legs, buttocks, and genitals. Damita Peak and Norris Walker were both jailed and charged with cruelty to children. Prosecutors may seek more charges when they take the case to a grand jury. Peak had bond set at $25,000 and Walker was ordered held without bond. On Saturday, Peak posted bail and was released from her cage, but later returned to the Oconee Jail and forfeited her bond. For some reason, she wanted to remain in custody.
It has not been revealed as to whether or not John’s younger brother was also abused. Both children have now been placed with a foster family.

This young boy is a hero. He cared enough to say something to a person of authority…that was very brave. I’m sure he has been told countless times and likely put the fear of death in him and his brother if he spoke a word.

My heart goes out to both of these dear boys. The 12 year old in no time will be a young man. I hope he has been saved from the destruction that would ultimately turn him into a criminal or worse…sigh…. kisses little ones. Be happy, be well.

I imagine she’s lost her job as a jailer, huband is in jail, kids are in foster care. If she’s anticipating a prison sentence, may as well start serving time now.

The 6 year old has more sense and courage than either of these two “parents.” My guess if that Mom knows her career is over and is “standing by her man – crap step-father.” Why else go to jail after bail is posted? This woman deserves to never have her kids near her, because her man-of-the day (penis) will always come FIRST!

ask my kids, they’d say “torture” = removal of electronics and toys, but then again, they don’t know about these things some other mommies and daddies do.. guess i’m a softy.
