There should have been presents for Malaki to enjoy, lots of bright and colorful new toys to play with. Friday was supposed to be his big day. . Derrick Fox, his mother’s boyfriend of 6 whole weeks, killed him.
After driving Malaki’s mother, Katie Lindley, to work last Sunday morning, Derrick made a pitstop. He had to pick up a dime bag before returning home to babysit the children. While he was inside buying the pot…and sampling the product, Malaki and Derrick’s two young daughters were sitting outside in the car, alone.
Malaki started fussing a bit once the crew got back home. Derrick picked him up to *ahem* comfort him and all of a sudden, Malaki arched his back and just jumped right out of Derrick’s hands! On the long trip down to the floor, Malaki smashed his head on an end table before hitting the floor. Derrick said that the baby cried for about 10 seconds, vomited, and then went limp. Boy, that’ll kill a good buzz, won’t it?
To revive the child, Derrick smacked him and shook him around a bit. He tried those revival techniques for about 4-7 minutes. When that didn’t work, he loaded Malaki and the other children back into the car, drove back to Katie’s place of employment, and then to Howard Regional Health System. What? In this day and age, there were absolutely no phones on which to dial 911 immediately after it happened? After initial treatment, the infant was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis for further treatment. Malaki Lindley died that day…5 days short of his first birthday.
An autopsy revealed that the injuries to the child didn’t match the story 28-year-old Derrick Fox was telling. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and the injuries to the child were non-accidental. He had extensive bruising on his face, ears, torso, and on the top of his little head. He also had a broken right clavicle that had already begun to heal. Ooooh! Maybe that’s why the little guy was fussin’! He was in pain! This hadn’t been the first time that child was abused.
Derrick Fox was arrested Wednesday evening. He is being held in the Howard County jail without bail, facing charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a felony. If convicted, Derrick could spend up to 50 years behind bars.
Katie, Katie, Katie…maybe having a convicted felon babysit your child isn’t such a good idea, huh?

When are these women gonna learn? Don’t they watch the nature shows? Even a mama bear or mama lion knows that the new male stalking around will try to dispose of the cubs as soon as he can, that is why they DON’T LET THEM AROUND!

I didn’t realize that the mother left her baby with this bastard after only knowing him for 6 WEEKS!
I’m certain she will never forgive herself for trusting this bastard…nothing I can say will make a difference. Nevertheless, I got to say, looking at this pieceofshit’s face, I would never have left my baby with someone who looks like trouble…I just wouldn’t.
Maybe that’s just me, but I would have done a background check before even considering him as a potential babysitter.
I’m of the belief this bastard injured the baby days or a week earlier…could have been the mother but I don’t think so. What I would like to know is why the mother didn’t notice her baby unusually fussy. Tell me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t a baby cry over a broken clavicle?…I would. In my book this bastard is guilty as sin and should pay with his life.
Had it been my baby he would have died by my hand…no doubt.
Rest in peace sweet Malaki now with the angels.

A twice convicted felon, first offence ARMED ROBERY, at 19 years old, babysitting your children, Thats a BIG recipie for disaster in the making.
He left all 3 of them, in the car in freezing temperatures to get baked ???
The autopsy report said ” Fox beat him about the head and shook him with such force he caused his brain to separate from the brain stem” . WTF!!

Oh God, what a tragedy. Here is another innocent child fatefully harmed due to their mothers ignorance. 6 weeks, she knew him???? Obviously she must be on drugs herself. I pray they remove the other children from her permanently and they find a loving family.

Not that it matters but Maliki was Katies kid and the other 2 were Derricks kids. Why this Ass Clowns, bio-kids mom, was letting him watch them i dont know, she must have known him, when he was in prison or just after his release.

Your assuming the mother wasn’t so high that she was largely unaware of this child’s needs. I don’t think Sunday School teachers hook up with drug-using felons. I’d bet she and bf-penis were sharing a lot of drugs and the kids were raising themselves. I hope they both die screaming.

Looking at Malaki’s picture hurts my heart. Why don’t single mothers realize that their first and ONLY committment is to their children? You lose the right to fuck whoever you want once you bring a child into the world. Why don’t we, as a society, hold these women responsible for their shitty judgement when their children are battered and killed? Maybe then their focus would be where it should have been in the first place: on their children.

I dont even know if its trusting more than stupidity, I bet thoughs men were never left with the kids before they did the Horizontal Bumpity bump, it seems to act as some kind of magic penis eraser or cooter key to bypassing all cohearent thoughts of child safty the mothers may have had. I just don’t get it???? I was a single mother and I never had ONE of my bf’s watch my kids..Because if I was working and holding down a job, then he had better be too.. After reading his version, I began wondering if he read the Gordon Dugger book of excuses for when a baby dies in your care. The accounts of ‘how’ it happened were eerily similar. Only difference really was he didn’t claim to be playing throw the baby in the air and forget to catch it.

Who in the hell leaves their baby with a man they have been going with for 6 weeks? I think that Miss Lindley should be in just as much trouble for her stupid choices as Mr. Fox. The baby had a broken collar bone….she had to know. I would definately say she was neglectful in more than ways than one. Maybe when they sentence him they should go ahead and tie her tubes.
