Cheryl Busch Shot The Baby

Hollister, San Benito County, CA – On Wednesday morning, Cheryl Busch was not doing very well.  Busch, 39, took out a Smith and Wesson 357 Model 686 handgun and walked over to her daughter Donna May, who was either in a crib or a playpen.  Busch then stood over the tiny girl and fired. Twice. Donna May Busch, shot in the head and chest at close range, died at the scene.  She was just 19 months old.

Cheryl’s husband was just outside the home at the time Donna Mae was shot.  John Busch, 52, was getting ready to leave for work and was already outside the home when he heard two shots.  Mr. Busch apparently went back into the house to find his daughter shot and his wife off her nut, and he called the sheriff’s department number first, and was then transferred to 911.  I’m not really sure why he didn’t call 911 first, but it hardly matters.  A .357 used on a toddler is going to be almost instantly fatal, and by that time Donna May was probably dead.

John Busch said that he took the gun outside to remove it from the scene, and stayed outside with the weapon while paramedics and police were en route.  He left Cheryl inside with the baby, presumably because there wasn’t much that could have been done to save her.  Both parents were initially taken into custody because John Busch was very agitated at the scene, but it became clear very quickly that Mr. Busch’s story fit with the evidence, and he was released without charges.

My immediate response to this story is bafflement.  Cheryl’s gotta be nuts, right?  I look at that mugshot and I see a blonde Andrea Yates.  Subtract some kids and a bathtub, add a .357.  That’s my first response.  But then I found out that Cheryl Busch, who owns a dog grooming salon on the property called Cheryl’s Chateau, already has one conviction for battering her husband last NovemberNovember reviewsNovember reviews.  She’sShe reviewsShe reviews still on probation.

So she’s sane enough to run her own business, and she’s already been convicted once for domestic violence.  Hm.  And she clearly had the presence of mind to obtain, load, and fire a weapon.  Twice.  HeadHead reviewsHead reviews shot and chest shot.  That looks like intent to kill to me.

Maybe what we have here is not so much crazy as it is evil.  Maybe she has no impulse control and no coping skills.  Was Donna May crying?  Was Cheryl Busch mad at her husband and decided to take out their only child together to punish him?  Did she just lose it?  Or is she really, seriously insane?

I don’t know.  I just know that a baby girl is dead, and her mother shot her.

Cheryl Busch was arrested on suspicion of murder and suspicion of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.  She is in the San Benito County Jail on a suicide watch, as deputies believe there is a risk of self-harm.  Mrs. Busch is being held without bond pending an arraignment scheduled for later today.

Oh, Lord-Christ. This women must be fucking insane, she has to be to kill her innocent baby girl. She looks like a complete nut case. I watched the movie “Baby Blues” last night and got to say I’m kind of biased to comment…crazy women are not on my happy list.

    Sweet baby girl…rest in peace.

    Mmmmhmmmm!

She does remind me in a way of Andrea Yates. The only thing I don’t get is how could she run a business. Maybe she wasn’t very successful at it, who knows? The thing is…even if it was Postpartum Depression or Postpartum Psychosis how could no one see that something was very wrong?

I know when I was suffering with PPD I never had the urge to hurt my child, but there were times when I didn’t feel capable of caring for her. At those times I reached out to my hubby, mother-in-law, father-in-law, mom for help with the kids. Maybe mine wasn’t too severe? I had depression before and recognized the PPD and saw my Dr. right away. What really pisses me off is people like Tom Cruise who say it doesn’t exist, etc. If we could really shut up those fucktards, I think more people would seek help and there wouldn’t be so much shame associated with it.

Sorry to write a novel, but this child’s life could’ve been spared.

Give the bitch a rope and a stool to jump off of! Fuck it. Fuck the whole insanity bullshit-why is it these women are insane and the ones that suffer are the children? Was she insane for the domestic charge last November? Where is the line? Just so fucking irritating!

I would like to shoot her myself but I think life in prison thinking about what she has done would be enough.

I don’t think this was caused by PPD. Usually women suffering from PPD don’t shoot their child to death after 19 months. Mode of death is usually something like suffocation, strangulation, throwing, etc. and it usually occurs when the child is an infant. The killing is usually something done in a fit of rage, when one isn’t thinking too clearly. To get a gun and fire on a child–twice–takes some forethought. And even if she did grab the gun in a fit of rage and fire without thinking, she shouldn’t have had a gun. She was known to be violent and even had a domestic violence conviction. This was a murder waiting to happen. I’m not anti-gun or anything like that, but I do think that people who are unstable don’t need to have access to them.

What really pisses me off is people like Tom Cruise who say it doesn’t exist, etc. If we could really shut up those fucktards, I think more people would seek help and there wouldn’t be so much shame associated with it.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Tray-bay-bay. I had post partum depression and it is 100% real. People who say it’s not real have never had it and need to shut up so that those who do have it can feel unashamed and get the treatment they so desperately need. When I got PPD, it was severe. There were times I found myself thinking horrid things about my son, things that no sane person would think. Then I’d call up my mother and say, “Please come get him before I do something stupid and my picture ends up on Dreamin’ Demon.” Most of the time, my thoughts would not involve harming my son, but would involve hurting myself. PPD is a monster, it is real and women who admit to having it are made to feel ashamed. Ultimately, it leads to women suffering in silence and in some cases, killing their children.

But I don’t think Cheryl Busch had PPD. I could be wrong. But it just doesn’t sound like it to me. It sounds like she was crazy and/or just plain evil. And maybe inbred? She looks inbred to me. It’s the eyes. Wayyyyy too close together.

Just wondering if Dad heard anything from where he was outside. Did he hear any crying or yelling? I’m not saying that if he did he could have went in to see what was up (little kids cry a lot about a lot of different, sometimes frivolous stuff), I’m just curious because if he didn’t then that would mean that she didn’t do this in a fit of rage. That would mean she was planning to do this no matter what. Also, did they mention if him and his wife had an argument or something recently? Just wondering if she had any reason to “want to get him back” for something. Maybe this was covered in the story or video and I just missed it.

Yes, I say she did it to hurt the hubby. Why else would she do it while he was still at home? It still could be related to PPD. Perhaps she was angry with hubby because he was not supportive of her during her emotional roller-coasters…

She likes the .357 so damn much – Give it fucking back to her. Who gives a fuck if she’s crazy or not?? She is a waste of space.

I agree..I find it such a waste to put criminals on suicide watch. Hell let them off themselves save the courts some time , free up some much needed prison space and best of all save the tax payers some money..

How the hell do you shoot a baby? Damn not only once but 2 times..

Agree with them arguing just before. Knowing he’s about to leave, she grabs the gun, runs back to where the baby is and BOOM! — BOOM! She knew he’d hear that.

I gotta give dad some kudo’s. At first I was a bit peeved he stayed outside with the gun… but then I thought– baby was probably obviously dead… how easy it would have been to kill mom — however, then HE would be facing charges. Shooting the bitch wouldn’t bring his daughter back and he wouldn’t have much of a defense to doing it. Considering there is a DV charge on her, dad is probably pretty damn lucky she didn’t decide to keep firing when HE walked in! Dayum!

Fry, bitch — FRY! Baby killing CUNT! I hope you are afraid every day and every night you are incarcerated. I hope you feel pain. I hope you are reminded daily of the choice you made and are made to suffer dearly for it. No pain is enough pain for those who would kill (or injure or sexually abuse) a child.
