Some people, when faced with the pictures Jaimie Pope saw, would erase them. Oh, they might confront dear ol’ dad, but the shame and embarrassment – not to mention the very thought of the publicity – might be enough to sway even people who believe themselves to be advocates for children.
Not Jaimie Pope. She called police and turned in her father, showing officers the photos she found on his camera. Then she contacted the parents at her dance studio and gym and asked them to talk to their own children, to make sure they’re all right. Pope described her reaction to finding the pictures as “shock”. “I was shocked, just shocked, overwhelmed, disgusted, mad, sad, angry, she said.
Jaimie Pope and a friend were just getting ready to shoot some pictures of kids in Halloween costumes at her studio when they turned on the camera and found the photographs under Molesa’s favorites, said court documents.
Molesa took the fifteen year old boy to his (Molesa’s) house, where he then molested the boy and forced him to engage in sexual activity while snapping away on the camera. Molesa then uploaded the shots onto his computer, because he’s a nice guy like that.
When asked why he’d committed such acts against a minor, Molesa mumbled, “My wife is dying. I was lonely. It just happened.”
You know, like his car just happened to go to his house, where he just happened to force himself on a young boy, and the camera just happened to click itself, and he just happened to upload the pics to his hard drive so he could just happen to enjoy them later. Yeah, that’s lonely, all right. Oh, and while I’m at it, way to send your wife to her eternal reward with a little dignity intact, assclown.
Gary Molesa was arrested Wednesday and bonded out – but by FridayFriday reviews, he was back in jail again on new charges after investigators found evidence that Molesa may have more victims.
Jaimie Pope says that given what she saw, she believes there are more victims out there, and she hopes that law enforcement can find them. Of turning in her own father, she said, “I found some incriminating evidence and I had the choice of either turning him in or not turning him in, and for the sake of my kids and the sake of here at the gym I decided to turn him in, it’s really hard, but nothing justifies what he did.”
Jaimie Pope is my hero.
And Gary Molesa is sitting in the Burke County Jail in Morganton, charged with two counts of statutory rape and two counts of indecent liberties with a child while the State Bureau of Investigation processes evidence taken from his home.

I’ve been lurking for awhile now but haven’t taken the trouble to register for commenting until now–everyone else just about covers everything I would say anyway.

Aside from that, of course I am proud of Jaimie–that took so much courage. Perhaps she was molested as a child, or just felt the creepy vibes and couldn’t quite understand it.

I know its nit-picky or whatever,BUT,still,does anyone else find it a lil weird in her “explanation of why i turned my dad in”…Among the list of reasons she gave,she a DIDN’T actually simply mention the BOY IN THE PIC…maybe she thought she expressed it when asked the other questions,like what it was like to find the pics ect…But still…i just woulda thought your FIRST reasoning behind doing it,should simply,and obviously be the damage ALREADY done,not souley for the fear of future danger?!

This story really sounds like he picked up a teenaged prostitute. And while I have some basic concerns for teenaged prostitutes everywhere (and for god’s sake hope my dad isn’t picking any up,) in the grand scheme of things, I rank the needs and safety of me and mine first, then worry about them. So while the well being of an underage prostitute is important to me, and no doubt to Jaimie Pope, it seems perfectly logical to me that she is foremost concerned with her kids, and the kids she works with at her business. In fact, she wouldn’t even be concerned about them unless she viewed that teen as an injured victim.

Hmmm… It may also be possible that “Dear ‘Ol Dad” was doin’ a few disgusting dance moves with her when she was a kid. Even if that’s so, and she was getting him back; she showed remarkable courage in alerting the authorities. Her story is a near-perfect lesson on what must be done to get these pervs off-the-street, and get the little ones protected. Bravo!

Where you get this prostitute thing? The story I read says is he was molesting a minor (15 year old) and possibly more than one. Of course she’s concerned with the children she works with, he’s a child molester and he may to have access to them through her. She must feel awful.

Unfortunately it probably will. Don’t get me wrong she showed an enormous amount of courage to do this, but I don’t think I would keep my daughter enrolled, especially if others might have been molested. That’s what kind of person I am…..I don’t think enough proof has been provided. Just being honest and you never know, what if he gets out on bail and decides to “punish” his daughter somehow. Still good going Jaimie – you are a strong, strong woman!!!

His tv shop was behind her dance academy.. I’d pull y kids out too.. Who knows what he was doing all that time with the dancers TOO close by.. She may have cut off her nose to spite her face.. He isn’t charged with assault or rape, he’s charged with statutory crimes for having sex with someone under the age of 16. Which, along with all the picture taking, implies to me someone willing. There was no relationship specified (or even hinted at,) to the kid, which says it wasn’t someone close to him. Now, 15yr old boys don’t generally get in a car to head over to the house of an old man to hook up like this in the absence of an exchange of cash or goods. And if you know some that do, I bet Gary here would like to meet them. If someone totes home a teenaged prostitute and even goes taking pictures, it’s probably not a one off occurance, but more of a hobby. So yeah, in the circumstances I suspect, I’d think further victims are a sure bet too. And I don’t think the victim is somehow less sympathetic or of a “lower” order if he’s a prostitute, even if Rory does, but it means he’s a victim of more than Mr. Molesa here. Give me some reason to believe a less probable scenario, prostitution being a heckuva lot more common than assault.

It would be my advice that you educate yourself about the statistics of sexual abuse before you start characterizing a 15 year old victim as a “prostitute”.

Maybe you need to review statistics on prostitution. There are more than 100,000 arrests a year for it, which is similar if not greater than confirmed cases of child sex abuse. 20-30% of those prostituting are male, something like 50% of men have visited a prostitute, and the average age of entering prostitution is 14-16yrs. So I don’t feel at all outrageous in assuming the more likely scenario here rather than jumping to a less likely scenario without evidence of it. And if you don’t feel as though a 15yr old selling sex is still a victim of sex abuse, well then fuck you. I disagree.

Of course they would still be a victim. I just don’t see how your helping anyone by classifying this victim as a probable prostitute.

You know, I’m sorry for my outburt of temper. I’m more abrasive than usual, and I’m going to blame it on that damned line at the polls. But honestly, I wasn’t in the market to help anyone, only articulating what I thought was self evident in the face of all the child molester accusations. While I feel an underaged prostitute is a victim and a john of said protitute a perpetrator, I think they’re in a whole other class than child molestor/molestee. And as crimes go, one I find less scarily threatening to my own children. I had 2 friends as a teenager (both male, actually,) who prostituted. One was tossed out early from a very religious authoritarian household, spent his teen years homeless, ended up with a heroin problem, then finally ended up dead. The other just sold oral behind the school for quick cash, came out of an abusive enviornment, was probably struggling with being gay and is probably still alive. It annoys me when people assume this isn’t happening in a depressingly common way in their backyards, which needs addressed in a much larger way than arresting some guy who pays them. And it annoys me even more when it seems like people don’t even think these kids are worth addressing in that real and larger way – like what they’re doing makes them somehow dismissable on the whole.
