* UPDATE: Attorney for South Brunswick man accused of killing parents: 'No doubt' client was abused

He entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Maltese in front of Judge Bradley Ferencz in Superior Court, New Brunswick.

Maltese is accused of strangling Michael J. Maltese, 58, and Kathleen Maltese, 53, with his hands in their home on Maple Street in the Monmouth Junction Mobile Home Park on Oct. 8. The couple's bodies were discovered in a shallow grave in Beech Woods Park in the township Oct. 25. Also charged in the murders is Maltese's girlfriend, Nicole Taylor, 18, who pleaded not guilty to the same charges Feb. 17.

Maltese, in shackles and handcuffs, said nothing during the brief hearing.

Maltese was taken back to Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick, where he is being held in lieu of $2 million. Taylor is there in lieu of $1 million bail.

Maltese filed a missing persons report with South Brunswick police on Oct. 17, telling officers the couple was last heard from Oct. 10. A day later, Maltese was charged with false swearing for giving wrong information about when and where he last saw his parents, authorities said. He was released without bail following that charge.

He and Taylor, who lived together in his parents' mobile home since August, were arrested the day before the bodies were found.

The 12-count indictment includes charges of theft, unauthorized use of the couple's credit cards and hindering.

Maltese and Taylor were engaged after the slayings, buying an engagement ring with the couple's stolen credit card, authorities said.[/quote]

No, April, I just happened to be aware of the second quote you responded to, and in all honesty, littering the Myspace of a kid who’s basically destined to life imprisonment like it means anything is fucking pathetic.

Did you mean "loitering"? I'm a bit confused how April could be "littering" his myspace. Either way... It's public, so it's fair game. Get over it. Loiter away, April! ;)

He killed his parents. Period. That’s more than enough for me to dish out actual criticism.

A-Men!

Since when did you have to personally know someone from childhood to criticize something they did PUBLICLY?

Do you not praise someone when they do something good publicly? A heroic firefighter or police officer for instance?

As for his parents, it doesn't matter if they were saints or not. Unless they were attempting to kill Michael or Nikki... nothing justifies their murders. NOTHING.

On a more positive note Celtic - Nice to see the bottom of the barrel N.J. "skool" system IS capable of turning out a few worthy graduates (assuming you graduated) At least your posts are comprehensible and mostly grammatically correct. Kudos there.

No, April, I just happened to be aware of the second quote you responded to, and in all honesty, littering the Myspace of a kid who’s basically destined to life imprisonment like it means anything is fucking pathetic. I talked to someone whose known him since childhood today, and I think he’s one of a few who has room to dish out actual criticism. You guys don’t know the kid or any psychological problems he might have had. You all got the story about how two wonderful, saintly people were murdered by their retard son with no motive, like he was possessed by a Wiccan deity or some bullshit, and complain about it on the Internet. What for?

If he had psychological problems, where were all of his "friends" to help him BEFORE he murdered his parents?

And you spoke to someone who knew him? Big fucking deal! What about all of us that knew his parents? What about all the people that were helped out by his parents?

An entire community is in mourning over the senseless death of two wonderful people.

When did you learn to read? Nobody claimed he was "possessed by a Wiccan deity". We stated that there was no way he was a TRUE Wiccan due to Wiccan beliefs.

“U dont no nothin bout it k Nikki wasnt even going to keep that POS Mike they been 2gethr sence high schhol and Niki wasnt going to merry him she said he never held down a job so stfu about Niki shes innocint and I no her and she wasnt even there she was asleep when it happend. ps she wasnt driinking in the yard it was on the porch.”

Why are they all so stupid. Every single time one of the defends shows up it's the same rambling Bullshit..blah, blah, blah... u don no nikki she's nyc and never wood do such a thing she didt drink in tha yard it wuz tha porch. It makes me want to ram a fucking spoon into my brain!!

It’s a shame no one has talked about his father using younger Michael’s social security number to run up over $30,000 in debt, and then dumping it on his 12 year old son, which wasn’t found out till he was 18. Thus stopping him from joining the Coast Guard. It also doesn’t mention that his parents legally signed him over to his sister at about the same time. Has anyone mentioned his parents hindering him from getting his GED? As well as other possible incidences of identity theft on the fathers part, and spousal abuse. I don’t condone his killing his parents, but hmmm,.. maybe it’s the old “Apple not falling far from the tree” syndrome.

Okay - So Michael Sr. wasn't a saint but he didn't murder anyone. By the way, a lot of people have fucked up childhoods and they DON'T murder thier folks. They just get out and move on. Homeboy was a mental asshole. Anyone that can STRANGLE another person just needs to die.

You people are all fucking retarded.

I don't care what a parent does, aside from abuse and neglect... They do not deserve to be murdered.. Wow his myspace is on another planet.. the whole family is a little wacko.. these two POS's need to be put away for life.. Another incident of human life that is worthless now...May his parents forgive him and rest in peace...

My GOD...It's absolutely amazing to me how people can create justifications for a lack of personal responsibility.

I don't even know how one might "hinder" attempts to obtain a GED, without tying someone to a chair or locking them in a basement.

It's entirely possible that this guy's parents (or at least father, from the sounds of it) behaved in ways that lended themselves to their child's misbehavior. But life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how YOU choose to deal with it. Clear the hurdles, or suffer the consequences.

He strangled his parents.

He purposefully strangled each one of them, watching them struggle, until they were dead.

Celtic, still want to defend/offer excuses for this waste of oxygen?

***************************************************************************
It could be very possible that his parents weren't the greatest and did this to him BUT...instead of murdering them he could have said, "I am going to choose to be better than my parents are, I am going to do the right thing, I am going to use this time living with my parents to get a job, save money, get my act together and get on my feet so that I can marry my girlfriend and start a new life doing things THE RIGHT WAY" No, he chose instead to kill them, which accomplishes what exactly?? Did he really think that no one would figure it out and that maybe he'd end up spending the rest of his natural life in a jail cell?? What a moron. I do have to wonder how a parent or parents can raise such a twit. I would think that a child reared with strong morals and strict guidance wouldn't turn out like this but you just never know. Regardless, it doesn't excuse him to kill the people who gave him life.
