Amber Alert: Christina Paige Alley & Levi Carlson
October 22, 2008 by impqueen
UPDATE 10/26/08 – Paige and Levi have been found and their parents are en route to pick them up in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where they were spotted under an overpass. The car Levi had stolen from his parents was abandoned in Omaha, Nebraska, and the pair had only sleeping bags for shelter. They have been taken to juvie, where they are awaiting their parents. I’m guessing that somebody’s gonna get grounded. We at the Demon are always happy for a happy ending – and a safe recovery is very happy indeed.  Score another one for the D’D Amber Alert tradition, and good lookin’ out to the person who spotted them. Yay!

Lathrop, MO - Christina Paige Alley, 14, and Levi Samuel Carlson, 16, are missing. They were last seen at a high school football game in Lathrop, Missouri nearly a week ago.  The pair was seen at the football game, and Paige Alley got permission to go home after the band performed at halftime. Paige and Levi have not been seen since, and the credit cards they each had have not been used in the five days since they disappeared.Â
The teenagers were last seen between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. last FridayFriday reviews
night. They were in a maroon 1996 Toyota Avalon with Missouri license PD0 A5U.  Both sets of parents called police when neither teen got home on Friday night. And Paige, who “always calls”… hasn’t. Neither teen has a driver’s license or much experience driving a car. And Levi is bipolar – and off his meds. Great.
At first, police felt that the pair had run off together after what they call “an altercation with parents” – perhaps to Colorado or California or even to Arkansas. But five days have now passed with no sign of the pair. Five days with no calls home, no credit cards, and nobody who’s spotted the car. One alleged sighting in Missouri today turned out to be a false alarm.
Major John Farmer of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department says that the Missouri Highway Patrol was asked twice to issue an Amber Alert for the couple, beginning as early as Friday night. The Alerts were denied the first two times because they didn’t meet Amber Alert criteria to prove an abduction had taken place. The Amber Alert finally was issued because of new information that Levi had threatened suicide before taking Paige from the game. She is now considered a victim of kidnapping, and authorities are concerned for her safety.
Christina “Paige” Alley is 5′2″ and 130 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt with black pants and sandals and has a round birth mark on her hip.
Levi Samuel Carlson is 5′10″ and 225 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He took his guitar with him, which he may have pawned for cash. He may be headed towards Arkansas, Colorado or California.

if you have any information.
I know, I know, it’s runaway teenagers, right? Well, kind of. But when we post an Amber Alert, the missing child is usually found safe and unharmed within hours or, at most, days. It’s a public service, just one of many we offer here at the Dreamin’ Demon. Here’s hoping for Paige and Levi’s safe return.

14 and 16 year olds with credit cards??? What happened to giving your kid some cash for the evening!
That said, I do hope these two continue the D’D Amber Alert tradition.
7:57 pm on October 22nd, 2008
I hope so too.
8:09 pm on October 22nd, 2008
I hope so too.
And what is it with young teenagers having credit cards these days? I can understand when you ship them off to college, but high school kids?
I hope they just are “runaways” and something worse hasn’t befallen them (or her).
8:21 pm on October 22nd, 2008
The alleged sighting today turned out to be false. So far, no sign of either of these kids has come in since last Friday.
I really hope they’re just very, very good at hiding.
8:28 pm on October 22nd, 2008
im new here but thats a great tradition to have,,i cant imagine what the parents are going through,my son was missing a matter of hours when he was 15 and i was literally crazed,i almost felt like i couldnt breathe not knowing where he was ,i hope and pray these kids come home safe and soon,,whisper
8:50 pm on October 22nd, 2008
If they have credit cards, one would think after this length of time they would have used them, motel, gas, food — unless they had quite a bit of cash on them.
Cell phones? I can’t believe they each had credit cards! Damn, our son didn’t even get his first one until he was almost 22; he just used his debit card until we finally got through to him that it might not be wise to use that on-line.
I really hope these kids come home soon. And I like the Amber Alert on the FP.
8:55 pm on October 22nd, 2008
I hope both of these kids are found safe.
14 seems young to be riding around with boys? Parents let their kids grow up way too fast nowdays.Dating and credit cards and all. (omg, I sound like my mother!!!)
9:26 pm on October 22nd, 2008
Turns out that Levi does not have a driver’s license and only has a little driving experience. Paige, at 14, has never driven a car. So that makes things more complicated.
Oh, and Levi is bipolar. And off his meds. Great.
9:44 pm on October 22nd, 2008
that is a very scarey combination i hope this turns out well what is the legal driving age there anyways?? i know here at 16 they can begin step 1 outta 3 to get a licence, takes few yrs here,,does he even have a beginners or nothing at all?whisper
9:45 pm on October 22nd, 2008
This just does have a good sound to it. Especially the may be headed to Arkansas, Colorado or California…WTF? the next state, a few states away or half a freakin’ continent away? That would not indicate that anyone has a good handle on this young man’s state of mind (including, apparently, himself).
9:51 pm on October 22nd, 2008
well i know what im getting my kids for christmas,G.P.S on theyre cars!!
10:05 pm on October 22nd, 2008
Oh, that’s really not good. He’ll already be having the withdrawl symptoms as after 48 hours you start getting the shakes and tracers and his mood is going to be all over the place by now.
Their poor parents, I hope I never have to even imagine what they must be going thru…..
10:21 pm on October 22nd, 2008
im bipolar and have been on a slew of coctails. His withdrawls will depend on the meds. If it is an extended release it could be anywhere between 24-72 hours before he starts getting sick with withdrawls. Lacking a mood stablizer could make him manic or depressed or hopefully neither. Im on effexor xr and depakote. The effexor tells me when I have missed my meds. The depakote ( mood stablizer ) does not.
11:10 pm on October 22nd, 2008
can i ask a stupid question??they have a new law here as of last yr i think,,if ANYONE goes to dr and says they are depressed,,even over the smallest thing and this person has never been depressed before at all,,now they are all diagnosed as bipolar,,,it doesnt make sense and now many will not go to dr for depression and to me thats worse then having meds and having help,,,meds make all the diff,my best friend is bipolar and i honestly had to tell her if she didnt keep on her meds i couldnt be around she was just so ,,i dont know what word to use but shes been on meds 8 yrs now and omg what a diff,,but now like i said people arent going to drs and we have alot more attacks, suicides etc and it doesnt need to be that way i have no clue why they decided to label EVERYONE as bipolar now,,is it the same in states??ty,,whisper
1:04 am on October 23rd, 2008
well whatever it is – its quite scary they don’t drive or have cars
I am holing hope that they are …
they are in someone’s basement – playing with the band since he had his guitar and she was playing in the half time whatever instrument she also may have one with her ~ obvious they liked music.
they went on a tour bus with a band or a greyhound to a tailgate party or audition for the next american idol / america has talent.
What are their favorite, what do these two have in common ?
are there no other couples that do have cars knowingly away these two are riding along with. (jumped a ride free trip to go skiing maybe) Wouldn’t be to imagine a girl and guy attracted to each other taking off sometimes purposely to scare their parents like part of a dare or something.
I had a teenage friend that ran off from Ohio with a boy from school. They were picked up in Texas more then a week later. She actually got pregnant on that trip – had a miscarriage long story short Once married she learned she couldnt have children. After several surgeries and lots of money. The couple privately adopted a young teenage girl’s second child as a newborn.
no matter if it is willingly as a run-aways or they were forced in a vehicle. The mystery and not knowing has to be just horrible – so fucking sad. It is already scary enough ~ knowing this kid is out there without meds … just makes it all that much worst.
I do hope this turns out well … 5 full days now
you all are in my prayers !
5:12 am on October 23rd, 2008
How sad, I cannot imagine what both sets of teens parents are going through right now, I pray for the return, safe return, of both teens. I only hope that this will turn out for everyone, I am not sure though…..
I will just pray for their return and hopefully unharmed, prayers are with all involved

whisper… i thought it was actually pretty uncommon to be diagnosed as bipolar… being diagnosed with some type of depression is a lot more common, but I didn’t think the same went for bipolar.
8:29 am on October 23rd, 2008
I was first diagnosed with major depression. Its very common for them to just say oh its just depression. It took two years to finnaly get a doctor to listen to me about my “anger issues”. I kept being told that having the dianosis of bipolar is a “heavy” diagnosis. That my anger was just depression. The psycosis I had the chocked up to depression as well. Thank goodness I have such a great husband and support system. Instead of the problem getting better it was only getting worse.
A diagnosis of depression is more common because in order to be diagnosed bipolar you have to have episodes of mania or hypomania. Basically being more uppity. Most people who are hypomanic ( mostly bipolar type 2 more depression symptoms) are happy, chipper, but do stupid things like have sex with complete strangers. People who are manic ( Bipolar type 1 which I am ) tend to be more irritable and violent. Then you have ones like me who without medication rapid cycles as well. That means you have moodswings. From really happy, to extreamly depressed, to manic. I hope they are found soon. It scares me as a mom to think of them off somewhere. But he is going to need his meds soon.
10:04 am on October 23rd, 2008
Okay i’m gonna say this…..i doubt they had actual “credit” cards. My kids 15 & 12 both have rechargable visas that I put money on when they go to the mall or movies with thier friends, it’s easier than giving them cash…..it’s just easy to say credit card…..i call my debit card a credit card…….as for these kids, i hope they find them safe….it said that they didn’t take cell phones with them…that sucks. I have parent locator on both my kids’ phones and i can check online anytime where they are as long as their phones are on.
10:54 am on October 23rd, 2008
I’m confused! Why did they have a car with them if neither one of them has a drivers license? I hope they find them soon.. Anything could happen, accident, abduction etc.. It seems that these kids are really getting way too much leeway at 14… I NEVER let my girls go in a car ALONE with a boy at 14.. TOO much can happen aat that age, they are too immature to handle their feelings. jmo

Message to Imp: really having trouble getting on the forums. Used the password you sent in my e-mail ( 6 times) no luck. Is anyone else having the same problem? HELP I know I’m not no whiz but I’m not that stupid..
11:40 am on October 23rd, 2008
I’m 26. I got my first credit card three months ago, and that’s only because I realized I have to start building credit sometime. I’ve never financed anything, I paid cash for my car…Renting is the only thing on my record.
The rechargeable Visa makes sense, though. Come to think of it, my parents gave my sister one of those when she turned 18. I suppose it would be safer than cash, and more convenient.
Sucks to hear that the potential sighting was a false lead.
11:43 am on October 23rd, 2008
Why all the hoopla on the credit cards? Hell, it could have been the debit cards you get with any bank account.
12:14 pm on October 23rd, 2008
It just weirds me out, because it’s yet another illustration of the MARKED differences between my HS generation and the current one. Shit…When I was in high school, a whopping 10 years ago, no one had debit cards either. Hell, maybe 5% of the school had cell phones. Pagers were will the in-thing when I was in school.
That said, I think it speaks volumes about our credit-caused economic woes. We’re getting our kids all familiar with using credit cards before they even understand them (statement based on a survey stating our childrens’ personal finance knowledge is declining rather than improving). That’s economic melt-down waiting to happen.
12:31 pm on October 23rd, 2008
Just odd that it hasn’t been used yet (that we know of).
However, in the State of Missouri, Levi could only have at the minimum a permit since that state has the “graduated” drivers license system and one can’t be fully licensed until 21 y.o. (and have to take a driving and written test, plus proof of so many hours of day and night driving). That’s also scary, the whole combination of lack of driving experience, no meds, anger. And no contact yet.
12:50 pm on October 23rd, 2008
thats what i mean now in ontario(not positive if its all of canada) but in ontario if you go to dr for depression you are automatically diagnosed with bipolar now,,im a nurse(geriatrics/alzheimers) and we have had a few just recently go in for small cases of depression and thats how i found out about the new way they are doing it now and i have no clue why
12:57 pm on October 23rd, 2008
Oh no this doesn’t look good. I wonder if anyone has checked any bridges, etc. You always hear those stories when they don’t know where the person is then finally someone see skid marks and the car is down an embankment and the person is still inside, a lot of time alive. To me it’s just hard to believe that not one person has seen the car or them and how are they financing ya know. Maybe they will get some more coverage since the amber alert has been issued and they will get spotted. Here’s to hoping!
1:03 pm on October 23rd, 2008
I would bet money that these kids got in a wreck.
1:10 pm on October 23rd, 2008
If you look at it another way, if they had used the credit cards it would have been a great way to get a handle on where they are! If that had happened, wouldn’t everybody be saying “thank goodness they had credit cards”?
1:11 pm on October 23rd, 2008
Unfortunately, I think you are onto it. I am also afraid the car is in a pond or off the road in some very rural spot.

Oh. Der. Good point!
Lemme alone, i’m sleep-deprived.
I was wondering about the wreck thing. I also thought about murder-suicide, but it hasn’t been reported that Levi had a weapon. I just find it difficult to believe that two kids who aren’t decent drivers and have little cash would go this long without them or their car being seen unless something bad has happened. It’s day 6, and so far the only tips have been false leads.
Right now I am hearing that there may have been a sighting in Bolivar, MO – i know the highway that leads into that town, and no amateur driver could cover it. It’s hilly and curvy with no shoulders and drivers routinely go 80+ mph on it. If they tried going that way, they may be off the road somewhere.

Paige’s parents are on Fox News…
2:37 pm on October 23rd, 2008
I get what your saying … my 9 y/o daughter asked me for a cell phone recently and after I stopped laughing hysterically and peeled myself off the floor, she told me that the majority of the kids in her class have cell phones and her teacher has to tell everyone to turn their phones off every morning !
3:37 pm on October 23rd, 2008
I really hope there is a strong ground search along roads they might have taken if heading to Arkansas or West within about 150-200 miles (guessing whatever amount of gas may have been in the tank). Also a search of any abandoned farm areas with barns, etc. where a young man in fantasy land may have thought they could “hole up” or whatever.
11:22 am on October 24th, 2008
I WAS THINKING THE SAME EXACT THING! 1st thought…
2nd thought…I hope this young girl knows what she’s doing being w/ a 16 yr old boy off his meds…wonder if she knew if he was on meds in the first place?
I hope they’re safe.

This from the local paper is not encouraging:
Throughout Clinton County and the state of Missouri a search is underway by law enforcement personnel, friends and family members for Christina “Paige†Alley, 14, and Levi Samuel Carlson, 16.
The pair went missing during Friday night’s Lathrop High School football game versus Lawson and haven’t been heard from since.
On Tuesday, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department issued an Amber Alert for Alley. The original request for the Alert was made on Friday, but it wasn’t approved by the Missouri State Highway Patrol until Tuesday, Oct. 21.
According to authorities, the couple, who had been dating, were last seen about halftime of the game. It is not known if Alley went with Carlson willingly or if she was abducted. He had threatened suicide previously, but it is not known if he possessed a weapon.
It had been reported that Carlson had a fight with his parents earlier. He is known to be bipolar and authorities say that he can be violent when not taking his medication.
The couple were last seen Friday night in a 1996 maroon-colored Toyota Avalon, which belongs to Carlson’s family. The license plate number is PD0 A5U. Neither of the teens have a drivers license or much experience driving.
The pair also did not have much money with them and there has not been activity on the credit cards they had. They also do not have cell phones.
Major John Farmer of the Clinton County Sheriffs Department, said that officers have been searching area backroads in case the duo had an car accident that couldn’t easily be observed from the road.
Authorities have listed several potential destinations for the missing teens including California, Arkansas and Colorado.
The Amber Alert describes Paige as 5’2â€, 130 pounds, with auburn hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a blue shirt, black pants and sandals at the time of her disappearance.
Levi is listed as 5’8â€, 230 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Christina Paige Alley and Levi Samuel Carlson, you are asked to contact the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department at (816) 539-2156. A website, including a blog, about the couple and their disappearance is now online at http://www.paigeandlevi.com.

October 26 is:
Help Find Paige & Levi Day
Anyone within 200 miles of Lathrop Missouri is asked to take an hour out of your day, or so, driving your area, backroads, neighborhoods, whatever, looking for Paige and Levi.
This is from the family site (link at top of article)
1:32 pm on October 26th, 2008
So, she was probably abducted? And he took his guitar to try to woo her with the melodic musical stylings? Not to be shallow here, but she’s very cute and he’s very not-cute. That doesn’t prove anything at all (at all!), but I’m just saying.
2:12 pm on October 26th, 2008
According to paigeandlevi.com, today is Help Find Paige And Levi Day.
To do my part, since i was out yesterday, I spent a fair amount of time driving around within the area suggested by the site (a 200 mile radius of Lathrop), and a thought occurred to me.
What about lakes?
No car has been spotted. These kids had little or no cash and there has been no credit card use. Neither of them could drive well. Levi wasn’t on his meds, and new information is that Paige’s cell phone was left behind.
Kids don’t disappear that completely with a car unless the car is well hidden. Kids don’t go without food or supplies for over a week without much money. And girls who look like Paige Alley don’t go unnoticed.
There are several lakes within the radius mentioned on the site – Lake of the Ozarks, Lake Pom de Terre, even as far away as Taneycomo, Bull Shoals, or Table Rock Lake. Might be time to start closest to Lathrop and check bodies of water.
4:43 pm on October 26th, 2008
I think you are right. I keep remembering a case in Nebraska some time ago where two kids (19ish) disappeared in their Jeep Wrangler one night. No known reason they might run. Extensive search turned up nothing, and nothing, and more nothing. Many months later a farmer was draining the lagoon on one of his feed lots and………..yup, in the lagoon. The theory is that they pulled off into a field and were disoriented when they got underway again and headed for the lights of the feedlot and went into the lagoon. They were probably overcome quickly by the methane and thus didn’t exit the sinking Jeep.
So I have been thinking that a search of farm ponds and abandoned farms might be in order, too.

You have a lake named for the humble potato?

Now I wanna know how they managed for over a week. That ought to be interesting. And Levi? You’re totally grounded.

I am so very glad to hear this news! I had such a bad feeling about the outcome…this is one time I’m glad I was wrong! Now Levi can get the help he so desperately needs. Their families must be over the moon with joy and relief. I love a happy ending!
