Anne Pressly Was Severely Beaten

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Anne Pressly, 26, is a KATV anchor woman who recently had a small part in the Oliver Stone film, “W“. She is currently in critical condition after being severely beaten. Her mother found her unresponsive in her bed at around 4 a.m., bleeding from her head, 30 minutes before she was to be on the set of “Daybreak“.
Police have stated her injuries are from blunt force trauma to the head. Police are not sure if this was a robbery gone wrong, but have stated that it is possible that it is something else entirely. They have not released if she had been sexually assaulted or not. But I would be surprised if this was just a simple robbery that turned violent. Like the rest of you are probably thinking, the viciousness of this seems pretty personal. Police have begun questioning co-workers to see if they can get any insight.
Just added the video in which they reveal that there was no stabbing, no forced entry but that there is an item missing.
Will update as more info comes out.
An interesting aside to this story is that while we don’t normally check our search engine referrals, some of our crimeblogging friends contacted us with some weird search engine terms they’ve been getting on this case. Some of the search strings that have brought people to this particular article on our site are (get this):

UPDATE 10/25/08 – KATV Daybreak anchorwoman Anne Pressly has died as a result of injuries sustained in a violent attack at her home earlier this week. Anne was 26 years old. Her family’s statement can be found here. We will continue to update this story as the investigation into Anne’s murder continues.
UPDATE 11/27/08 – Curtis Thomas has been arrested in connection to the beating death of Anne Pressly. No motive has been given yet, but in a press conference yesterday, Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas said that the arrest was based on “a very, very solid case due to solid detective work.”Curtis Lavelle Vance, 28, from Marianna was aware that police were about to arrest him and had tried to flee his home with a 25-year-old woman and three small children.

I read somewhere (it might be on the video, I am just not able to view) that her Mom always called to wake her up and when she didn’t get a response she rushed over and that was how she found her. Too bad her Mom had to see in that condition, but so lucky they had that routine because who knows how much longer she would of been able to hold on.

This is terrible, but I believe it is a stalker too. Them item taken was her purse??? Just to make it look like a robbery? I’m sure she had a lot more expensive items in her home besides her purse.. Smells like whomever wanted us to think it was a robbery.. I hope they find this sick demented mind soon.. I hope her face is okay, she was so pretty..

What a horrible thing for anyone to have to go through. It just makes me so upset that there are people out there who do this to others. I’ll never understand it. Hopefully she makes a full recovery.

I live in Little Rock where this occurred, and I work at the region’s newspaper. KATV is just down the street from our office. The news room actually had a scare yesterday because she flatlined and for nearly two hours there were reports that Ann died. This is awkward for our area and has been a shock to residents. We have our share of homicides, but very few home invasions that result in such severe assault. We’re all hoping she pulls through.

Could actually be just a random case of home-invasion. Could just be coincidental that she was famous. At least, if this were a murder mystery novel, that’s what would end up being the case.

What’s interesting is, my morning new station almost seemed to suggest that this may somehow be connected to the fact that she played Ann Coulter in the movie…Like it could have been some enraged Coulter fan made insane by the films mockery. Considering all of the perfectly reasonable theories, I was surprised they threw this one out there.

Hmm, no sign of forced entry. I’m very curious as to the missing item. Hopefully, she will make a full recovery and be able to help identify this creep. A single woman, living alone, out in the public eye like that, needs a security system.

If I were to take aim at the cause. I would say, ex or someone she was seeing, someone she met at the party or fund raiser she was at that night….perhaps she left her purse in his car……there is just too much anger here.

She’s been upgraded to “stable” per Nancy Grace’s show. Looks like she is going to pull through. I just wonder about brain damage due to the blunt force trauma.

According to the paper that I work at, The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the LRPD is still classifying this crime as a robbery because Ann’s purse was believed to be taken the night of her attack. They have not, however, found any suspects, motive, or evidence, really. I don’t think this case is going to be solved unless she wakes up and can identify her attacker.

The news I heard this morning said they believe this is a random attack, but I wonder if they are saying this for her protection. Whoever did this has to be scared that she will come to & tell all. Let’s all pray she makes it through this.

As of this morning, there were still no real leads in this case. The LRPD did find a Shell gas station where Ann’s credit card was used after the attack, but they have no other leads. They have been scouring possible routes the attacker could have taken away from her home, and have come up empty except for what appeared to be blood near a trash can in a park. The trash can has been processed, but it is still unclear as to whether it was indeed blood, and if it was, whether it was Ms. Pressly’s. I’m crossing my fingers they get this one solved. A $16,000 reward has been offerred for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the assailant.

has anyone considered the possibility of a radical far right nutjob who is angered by the film W and decided to take out some anger for anyone who questions things? it may be a stretch, but I wont rule this out as a possibility. If so then it is people like this that make it hard for people like me who support either the left or the right by stereotyping us as crazy warmongers or extreme liberal hippies. but it seems more logical that it could have been just some short term stalking leading to a robbery and sexual assault, this woman is quite good looking so its not a shot in the dark… god be with this woman, hope she recovers and squeals like a stuck pig on this prick.

i just finished watching news where her father was on police say it was a burglary and that her credit card from her purse that was taken was recently used at a gas station so they are checking that out but her dad still feels she was targeted for her role in Oliver Stones movie “W”

Cannady says the family believes Pressly fought her attacker. Her left hand was broken, as was nearly every bone in her face. Cannady says Pressly shows improvement every day as the bruising and swelling subside.
Her neurosurgeon, Dr. Brad Thomas, said on “Good Morning America” that the swelling in her brain appears to be “under control.”
A Little Rock police spokeswoman says police have not found any evidence to indicate that the case was anything other than a robbery.
