Dr. Kyle Mounts Was “Just Looking”

Grafton, WI - Dr. Kyle Mounts is a well-known neonatal specialist in the Milwaukee area and is affiliated with several area hospitals. Well, he was. Over the last couple of days, at least three hospitals have suspended him, and he probably is even more well-known now that he has been arrested for lewd behavior. And in whose presence did Dr. Kyle conduct this lewd behavior, you ask? Why, prepubescent girls!
It all took place at a Ozaukee County Target store, beginning when a mother went looking for her 9-year-old daughter. She found the 50-year-old Mounts standing over her daughter with his shorts pulled down, choking the chicken. Understandably alarmed, she gathered up her little girl, made for a store employee toot sweet, and reported the man. When an assistant manager approached Mounts shortly thereafter, he was standing near another little girl; when asked if he was in need of assistance, Doc Mounts replied, “No, just looking.” However, when the assistant manager returned a few minutes later, Mounts had his right hand “up his shorts.” Police arrested him in the Target parking lot and charged him with lewd behavior and disorderly conduct.
Mounts has already been released, so Milwaukee parents, go with your kids when they want to browse the toy aisles at Target or Wal-Mart. This guy’s “just looking” was bad enough; God forbid he live up to his name.

I’m concerned about this. And quite frankly, more than a little baffled. What kind of psycho GETS CAUGHT jacking it for a little kid by the kid’s mom and then heads off to the next kid in the toy section without showing some concern? He didn’t even go, like, hide in the bathroom until security stopped looking. Just … moseyed on down the aisle to the next unsuspecting tot.

I agree – this guy must be having some sort of breakdown? You’d think he’d have left the store immediately?! Very scary, maybe this is his “cry for help” – I can see his lawyer using that phrase. Too late to cry “help” he was a medical professional – he knows exactly where he should go for help. Now he can get all the help he needs – in jail.

I’m lucky enough to live in this area so I get to watch the local updates. He is actually in a hospital for mental evaluation and then when he is released from there he is going straight to jail.

On one hand he may be a brilliant neonatologist, but on the other hand, is he that stupid that doesn’t think people know what’s going on? Choking it in public? Hard to get away with. But these idiots try again and again. Thankfully he was quickly caught, this time, but here he is, out on bail. His behavior will escalate, it always does. What, or who, will be next?

I am absolutely heartbroken about this – I worked with Dr. Mounts as a student for 8 weeks and he was the kindest, gentlest, most compassionate man. He was a wonderful teacher and doctor and I cannot fathom how this could happen if he was in his right mind. Obviously, there is no excuse for what happened – I just can’t wrap my mind around this being the same man that I knew as a student. I hope everyone involved gets the help they need.

Spring of 2006 – I actually had him write a letter of recommendation for me for a job following that. I’ve been going over things in my head repeatedly since this story broke and I honestly can’t think of one bad thing I could ever say about him. Just so so so disheartening, to say the least.

You know, there are documented cases of trauma that create impulsive, sexually-deviant behavior. Or, private endeavors such as these may have lost their magic, provoking him to find a more public venue strange and disgusting to say the least, but it would be interesting to hear how such a respected member of the community came to do this type of thing.

Truly, there is nothing I can think of, and trust me, I’ve been trying. I’ve been in touch with friends that work at the hospital as well and everyone is equally as flabbergasted. When I told my husband what happened, the first thing he said was, “He must’ve been on something.” Who knows? It’s one of those things that I and many others that knew him will probably never ever understand. I just pray for his family and the families of the victims.

This reminds me of a disgusting experience I had when I was younger

I am one of many who have worked professionally with Dr. Mounts for years. We are all in complete shock and disbelief about this situation. The public would find it hard to believe, that 100’s of nurses would hands down choose Dr. Mounts as their favorite neonatologist out of many. A man with genuine compassion for his patients (never leaving the bedside of a declining baby, so he would be available to staff for minute-to-minute life saving decisions), impeccable skill, and respect for staff. We are having a hard time understanding, how such a person could be living a double life. Something made him snap, in the most horrific way imaginable. Our hope is that he finds the help he needs. The face of the man in the picture above is not who we knew…the blank stare, the withdrawn demeanor, even the uncharacteristic attire. Goes to show you can’t trust anyone these days…it is truly scary and sad. Picture the most respected man you know and trusted doing something as obscene as this!

I know this guy, and like someone mentioned earlier, it really is hard to believe that he would behave in such a manner. But it goes to show how you don’t know what people are really like. I seriously felt sick to my stomach when I heard the details of what happened. I also found out that he was mailing the sister of one of his patients expensive gifts. She is also 9 years old.

I would have reported that my child was receiving expensive gifts from her doctor. That is “odd” behavior.
The two little girls I spoke of, are the ones the man decided to force his penis on. That is not something someone forgets easy.
