Femelia Aguilar on dreamindemon.com

INDIANAPOLIS - Seems as if Femelia Aguilar, 31, forgot a couple of things on Thursday as she was traveling with her two girls ages 2 and 3. One, she forgot to restrain the 2-year-old, and two, she forgot to stop the car after the unrestrained two-year-old fell out of the back seat and bounced into oncoming traffic.

Luckily, the little girl escaped major injuries, only suffering a cut to the nose and a sprained finger. Also lucky was the fact that there was a policeman around who witnessed everything and was able to stop traffic and tend to the crying girl. Especially since the mother had already made it a couple blocks before she realized what had happened.

Femelia Aguilar was charged with neglect of a dependent causing injury and operating a vehicle without a license. She was also cited for the vehicle having no child restraint system in the back. Child Protective Services was called to the scene and took custody of both girls.

*sigh* I hate stupid people. I really, really hate stupid people. And, honestly, there’s no other way to describe this lady. You don’t drive a car without a license. You do put small children in carseats. You do make sure they’re properly installed. And if you don’t, then you keep the freakin’ windows rolled up! Geez! Why are they (stupid people) allowed to breed?

Thank goodness that for that cop, who was right where he/she was needed! Or else this story would have ended up much, much worse.

How in hell does one drive for blocks and not know that 1 the door has opened and 2 that the child that was in the back seat is no longer in the car??
what in hell was she smoking??

I am just not able to comprehend all these people that leave kids and forget they are in cars or have them fall out and not know they are not in the cars any longer.

Hey, I’ll admit, there are occasions in which I’ve had small children in the backseat of the car and done all I could to block them out of my awareness. You know, the shrieking, the fighting, the spilling food crap all over the carpet, hiding crayons in the crevices of the seat to melt for later. But while I have aspired, I have never actually managed to achieve this lady’s zen-like unawareness of the car-exiting activities of the back seat. I might be in awe, except for the part where this is a fine example of why such a state isn’t desireable. Or maybe it just reinforces that 5 point restraints are very important right up until you just can’t get that buckle around their little bodies any more, ha.

Back in the 70’s ( I’m dating myself) there were no seatbelts, child carseats, etc.. Making children sit down in the backseat was an inhuman feat of its own.. But I did try, sometimes even pulling the car over and putting on that Mommy stern face.. My sister had my two girls one time, while I was at work, they were around 3 and 4.. Put them in the front seat with her not knowing the passenger door was not closed all the way, turned the corner onto the highway and my oldest fell out … Long story short, severe concussion, was in the hospital for two weeks… Not saying that this douchebag was not at fault.. just saying

I think many of us do really stupid things, but hopefully we learn from them. Many years ago, I took my young daughter to visit my grandparents. My grandmother helped my daughter, who was three years old, into her carseat, then leaned in and hugged and kissed her. I was standing outside the car door and my grandparents, brother, two nieces and a nephew were with me, each of them leaning into the car to hug my daughter, then hugging me good-bye. Once the round of “love you” and “drive safely” was over, i shut the car door, got in the driver’s seat and took off. It was only after we had gone a few miles that my daughter SCREAMED from the back seat “MOMMY I AM NOT BUCKLED!”. That is right – no one (myself included) actually latched the restraints. After I stopped the car and buckled her in properly, I had to take a moment to cry, because images of what could have happened flashed through my mind. This was the first day of the “check-recheck” system. Under this system, I make sure the kids are buckled, then before I put the car in gear the kids check that they are buckled. Now that my daughter is old enough to buckle her own seatbelt, I still check that she is properly buckled before the car goes in drive.

Understand that I am not saying this to excuse this lady. I admit I made a completely stupid mistake, and we are only lucky that nothing bad happened. If anything bad had happened, I know I would never have been able to forgive myself.

It only takes a moment of carelessness for tragedy to occur. That being said (and because I am a judgmental witch, even when I am baring my own faults to the world), it takes a lot more than a “moment of carelessness” for your child to fall out of the backseat without even knowing. Something tells me that my “check-recheck” system won’t do this lady too much good!

That has happened to me too- and I am affectionately called “the seatbelt nazi” by my teen boys, so it’s not like I am not conscientious about it. My little ones who are still in boosters have trouble buckling themselves so we taught them that Mom and Dad make mistakes too so if we ever forget to buckle them, to tell us right away.

However, that is totally different than this dipshit’s blatant neglect. I report drivers like her to the FHP every single time I see them. It doesn’t matter how good YOU drive-it only takes one other idiot and your kid is dead.

WTF is up in my neighborhood lately? What is this… the 3rd time this WEEK a story has come out of Indianapolis? Geez!

I don’t know how this baby wasn’t more seriously injured — but thank God she wasn’t. It’s also a miracle the other child didn’t fall out after her! What was mom doing that she didn’t see the open door in her side mirror? 2 blocks??
Thank heavens for the police officer— right place, right time and quick thinking! Man… this could have been so much worse!

What’s up with that car door? And it was on the driver’s side, too. How do you go a couple blocks and not notice something like that?! Just a thought – this woman was operating the vehicle without a license. Does that mean her license was suspended or revoked? Or did she just forgot to put it in her purse that day? The family member in the newsclip says she drives all the time. It’s a wonder these kids are still alive. Hopefully, this person will lose her license and these kids after this incident. It’s a miracle this baby didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

im sorry but how the heck do u 4get to strap ur baby in her seat i mean come on now. thats just plain sad that an innocent baby had to go through that. just plain sad… she should def. be punished… her neglecting mistake could have taken an innocent childs life. i dont even have kids but when i do have my friends children i am always as safe as possible and do everything possible to keep them safe while they are in my car. and i do a perfectly fine job. theres just no excuse! thats insane.

Yes, I’m sure it was because she’s hispanic. Just like Crystal Snow or Joni Kelley.
