16 years old and he's already for all intents and purposes a mass murderer. That's just mind blowing man. I think I'll hit my knees for the first time in a very long time tonight and thank the Big Man for my daughters and how they haven't threaten to kill anyone. Ever. Sometimes I forget how truly blessed I am, and maybe almost as importantly, how bad it can get.
Have a good night my friends......

Reminds me of when our oldest son was in the 5th grade (pre-internet age, back when you actually read books). He decided to make rocket fuel. No, I don't know why. What I do know is we had all these books like: How Nature Works, How Science Works, etc. He absorbed these types of books.

Well, he concocted some sort of mess from stuff around the house. Luckily, for us, one of his friend's told us. He had hidden everything in a RED duffel bag under WHITE insulation in the attic (meaning it wasn't hard to locate).

When we asked him what he was going to do with this "fuel" his only response was "build a small rocket." Sad part, he thought he could do it. I know he didn't mean to harm anyone with it because of the pages he had marked in the books. But the fact that he hid it was wrong (we didn't even get into hiding it in the HOT attic, insulation, etc.). We laid it on heavy, though. Sorry to say, that's when the room snooping started. I hated that, but we felt it was necessary for our family's safety.

We felt very lucky that his friend told us. It's so different today, though. If it were to happen today, we would handle it much differently. Makes me very scared for our granddaughter, his daughter, for the future.

Do the people these kids talk to NEVER take it seriously? It seems as if almost everytime, these kids are openly talking about what they are going to do. It looks as if in this case, whoever he texted notified police, but it is obvious by the text message, he had been talking about it for awhile.

This one clearly took it seriously in the end, and made the necessary call to the police, - who also took it seriously.

I think there are a lot of losers out there who like to talk tough, and their friends let them, thinking they are just letting off steam. I have personally heard some pretty graphic descriptions of what someone wanted to do to someone else when I was a teen, - always knew it was just so much morbid (sorry!) day-dreaming. Thank heavens this particular friend realised the difference.
