Missing In Michigan: Tangena Hussain

Tangena Hussain, 2, on dreamindemon.com

Detroit, MI - Two-year-old Tangena Hussain of Hamtramck, Michigan, was last seen at 8:45 on Thursday evening at the Marathon Gas Station in Detroit.  Or was she?  Her mother’s boyfriend (but not Tangena’s father) Jamrul Hussain, 27, says that Tangena was in the back seat of his car when he stopped at the gas station to buy candy and juice for the child.  They were on their way to pick up Tangena’s mother, Nilufa Begum, from work at Northland Mall.

When Jamrul Hussain got back to his car, he said, Tangena was gone. But rather than call police or alert the store personnel, Hussain went to pick up Begum as scheduled, telling her that he would “take her to her daughter”.  Instead, he took Begum back to the place where he said he lost her baby girl.  Sound familiar, anyone?

Nilufa Begum did was innocent mothers do when their babies disappear.  She freaked out and insisted on calling the police.

“I was asking, ‘Where’s my daughter; tell me where’s my daughter?’ and he couldn’t even say anything,” Nilufa Begum told a television reporter.  “He said, ‘I will tell you; just come with me,’ and he took me to the gas station.”

When they got to the station, Nilufa Begum said that her boyfriend told her he had left Tangena strapped into his red Geo Prizm while he went inside earlier that evening.  When he came out, he said, she was just gone.  Begum asked Hussain why he hadn’t called police, and he answered that he was afraid and wanted to get her from work first.  Which sounds patently like bullshit to me, and I don’t think anyone else is buying it, either.

“The mother was distraught, but the guy just didn’t really seem, well, his face was blank. It was more like an everyday occurrence to him,” said one witness, Frederick Panell. “I wouldn’t have thought that something was wrong if the mother wasn’t as hysterical and crying as she was.”

Unfortunately, there was a “technical glitch” with the surveillance tapes, and the elder Hussain managed to park in the one area where the cameras weren’t working.  There’s no evidence of any abduction - but there’s no evidence disputing Hussain’s claim, either.  Nobody saw Tangena at the Marathon on Thursday night. If Hussain went inside to buy candy as he claims, was he indulging a toddler, or establishing an alibi?

Police held Jamrul Hussain for questioning after Tangena’s disappearance, but have so far developed no leads - at least, not any that they’re sharing.   But once Jamrul Hussain hit the news, Detroit got a call that identified Hussain as the attacker in a February sexual assault case with a young victim.  That case had been reported, but the perpetrator had not been caught.  His victim saw him on television and identified him after Tangena’s disappearance.

Jamrul Hussain has now been arrested for sexual assault case against a minor.  He is currently being questioned at the Hamtramck Police Department and will likely be charged in that case.  And if you ask me, I think he’s good for Tangena’s disappearance, too.  I hope that she will be found, but it doesn’t look good, does it?

An Amber Alert has been issued for Tangena Hussain in Michigan. Tangena, 2, has short brown hair and big brown eyes and is of East Indian descent. She was last seen wearing white cargo pants and a long sleeved brown knit t-shirt with a cartoon character on it and gold sandals.  Tangena is around 3 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 34 pounds. She has a scar from a burn on her upper lip and chin. Anyone with information should call Detroit police at 313-596-1240.

RockRGrl is on this case in our forums.

I hate the OH so familiar recurrences in children disappearance. When are mothers gonna start doing a background check on their penises? They should just be content with a dildo.

Hope they find this girl alive, but i have my doubts.

In defence of Nilufa Begum and her choices, would there have been anything to find if she had made that back-ground check?

It sounds to me as though this waste of space was only made for the previous attack after his face was shown on the telly.

I don’t believe she was ever at that gas station either. I don’t think Jamrul even knew what he was going to do/say until he actually got the mother. He was winging it.

Not to jump to unwarranted conclusions or anything, but based on the report of a previous sexual assault on a minor, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he assaulted her, was afraid she’d tell, and killed her. God, I hate how easily I can jump to that conclusion.

What I do think is interesting is that anyone in this day and age would claim an abduction at a public place like a gas station or parking lot when one didn’t occur. We’re in the age of surveillance, folks. I know there’s cameras all over those places. You know there’s cameras all over those places. Why don’t the perps know? I think this SOB got the luckiest break of his life with that broken camera.

I hope this gorgeous little one turns up soon.

This is just miles away from me. As soon as I heard the Amber Alert. I knew that the Penis is a fucking liar.

I Love her name, sweet girl, I hope that you are able to be in your Mother’s arms again. Broke my heart to see all the video’s with her Mom freaking out. I don’t even know what I would do.

To any new readers to this site… DO NOT TRUST YOUR OR ANY PENIS WITH YOUR CHILDREN.

This dear sweet girl if she is alive she if terrified and crying for her mama….and that just breaks my heart. If it were me in the mothers place I would torture this bastard until he took me to my daughter…oh, and he would not get the luxury of going to prison to never speak of her whereabouts…I would not kill him until he physically brought me to her….then I’d erase his useless face from existence!

Sweet Tangena my prayers are with you…please, please… make it back to your mama’s arms alive and well.

Such horrible luck that the cameras weren’t working.

Why was he charged with sexual assault against a minor? My guess is he is guilty of that and worse, but why specifically was he charged w/ this and just this? Was some evidence uncovered? Did he admit to something? Waiting for the update…

Maybe i have heard one too many…but how can the mother believe the boyfriend’s story that the child has been abducted? Am I on crack? Or is she? And why wasn’t the child in a car seat? I would arrest both just for that!
And wow…she has 2 other children, age 8 and 7 who live with the father (also Tangena’s dad) in New York…sup with that?

Here is a link of a news video

I still pray for this little beautiful girl to be found, and be found alive…but i do have doubts.

I hope they find this girl.
They very likely won’t because this guy sounds like he is lying.
He probably scoped the place out first and knew what areas the cameras were covering and decided from there. He thought he was real smart.Creating an alibi for himself while not having any proof she was actually in the car.In reality this makes him look even more guilty.

He picks up the mom and tells her the kid was kidnapped but did not go to the police ?
    That says “guilty”!

His history of sexual assault isn’t very reassuring either.

He sounds like the male version of Casey Anthony.

Don’t mothers watch the news? Why do they go on trusting their fuck buddies with their children?

His car should be checked thoroughly for any forensic evidence and he should be submitted to a lie detector test.

Its really only from reading the (one too) many stories on this site that made me immediately “know” that this guy’s story is BS!
This is also close to me geographically, so knowing a little how the LE works around here…I am wondering why the FBI is involved. The Detroit PD is because of where they claim she is missing from, the Hamtramck PD because that is were she resided…dont know why the FBI though.
They are reporting that they have been canvasing the neighborhood to see when the last time anyone actually saw the little girl alive. Sounds like A LOT more is to this story than is being said.
And why did(does even?) she have burn marks on her face???

Ugh…tonight they report he has taken a polygraph but they are not saying anything about the results. The mother says she wants to take one too.
And the sexual assualt against a minor charge? No extra details except that this minor was his girlfriend as recent as 8 months ago. The family on the news was making it like its a cultural misunderstanding.
ARG America has laws- not to make it an arguement about immigration but damn its not acceptable for an adult male to have relations with a child…also, they ask to “bring the baby girl back”…who are they talking to???

My sisters that live in Michigan, about an hour north of where she lived called me as they knew I was on this site and asked me to make sure this beautiful little girl made it on here. I told them Imp was way ahead of us.

She’s just gorgeous and i’ve been praying for her. I knew from the beginning the penis was responsible. After hearing about him being arrested for sexual assault on another little one, now i’m positive.

Poor sweet beautiful baby. I hope you get to go home and be with your mommy.

And too true. If I were the mother I too would be torturing him every minute of every day until he took me to her then i’d wipe him off the face of the earth so he could never hurt anyone again.

Why do women think it’s ok to leave their child with someone who’s not their father?

Yeah. But it’s kinda abstract and vague to chastize her for the choice of babysitters. She was working and trying to make a better life for her child, which means someone has to care for the child during that time. I’m sure she thought her child was safe in this instance. Tragically, she was wrong. So, you know what I think? I think our *government* needs to WAKE THE FUCK UP and start subsidizing childcare for all American children. This woman was at work, trying to make money to take care of her child. She was not some shiftless slob. The thing is, childcare is expensive. In fact, anyone working a minimum wage job (as she probably was, since she was working in a mall) does not make enough in 1 hour to pay for 1 hour of childcare–especially not any decent, safe childcare. And that is a simple fact. Anyone who thinks that subsidized childcare means taking care of lazy people’s children is completely missing the point. The children are the future of the country. They are OUR future. Etc. Personally, I’d loooove to see my tax dollars go toward that (this reminds me that Hillary Clinton was a vociferous proponent of subsidized childcare).

Yeah. And then we wonder how people get stuck on the Welfare rolls. People stay on the Welfare rolls for various reasons, but some just get trapped. Can’t get a job that pays enough to cover childcare, and so it’s a vicious cycle. There was Tangena’s mommy–instead of being on Welfare and thus staying home with Tangena, she was trying to hold down this job and make a better life–really sad. I’ll bet she sure couldn’t afford decent childcare on her wages. Poor mama. I hope Tangena is found alive. Seems unlikely.

Yeah sugar i did a background check on my boyfriend. In fact i do a background check on any of the ppl my kids date or just befriend….calle me stupid, but i found one of them on the sex offender list in CT.
I didn’t even allow anyone close to my kids for 4 yrs after my divorce. And certainly i didn’t invite a jobless penis to live with me. In fact he was never even allowed in the house when i wasn’t there. And that went on for 5 yrs.
This woman clearly didnt know this man well, if he kidnapped and raped a 15 yrs old girl, for 6 days, just 8 months ago. And threatned to kill her and her family if she would go to the police. He made sure she would be taken to the police station with one of his accomplices to declare she had ran away.

As far as he babysitter goes….it doesn’t seem as this guy had a job….so i think it’s a toss up….you either pay to support your penis or to pay for a daycare. Then again, are daycares safe? lol, sometimes they are worse.

As a mother i don’t even want to know what it must be like to be uncertain about the fate of any of my kids….and my heart is bleeding cuz i can feel that this girl is not with us anymore. What a shame.

I’m trying to keep in mind that this woman is in a cultural whirlwind and right now that POS is the only familiar thing she has to cling to.
Her world is crashing down around her… she WILL see the light… but for now… in order to function… I think she prefers the darkness of denial.

I pray this little girl is found somewhere, somehow — unharmed. But like the rest of you here… I fear the worst. Poor, poor baby. I pray she didn’t suffer.

A similar update to the one I just posted:

I like how the mom’s BF refers to kidnaping and keeping a 15 year old in the basement for raping purposes as a “cultural thing.”

I just want to note the fact that Tangena’s mom keeps her head covered, which is also a “cultural thing”–spefically, a religious cultural thing that has everything to do with a belief in the necessary and justified subjagation of females. Oh, wait, could there be a parallel? I’m just asking.

People should do background checks whenever it seems warranted–whether on boyfriends or their own religious and cultural practices. That’s just my own opinion, of course….

    This case just gets worse….

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. — A Hamtramck couple with ties to a man who last saw a missing child were arraigned Wednesday in 31st District Court on charges of kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment in connection with the alleged February abduction of a 15-year-old girl.

Hena Begum and her husband Mamunur Rahman Khan pleaded not guilty and bond for the man was set at $500,000 and $50,000 for the woman.

“The female did try helping her (the 15-year-old girl) by feeding her and allowing her to take showers while at that residence, but the problem is that they did not come forward when she was being held there,” said Det. Jacqueline Crachiola.

The family of the couple told Local 4 that the family voluntarily went to police after they learned the girl’s age.

Mamunur Rahman Khan and his wife were crying in court as face charges that could lead to life in prison.

A preliminary exam was set for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 16.

FBI agents and police investigators were seen apparently digging in the backyard of the Bangladeshi couple’s home on Lumpkin Street Tuesday evening in connection with the Thursday disappearance of 2-year-old Tangena Hussain.

Also, investigators said physical evidence was found at the couple’s home to support the 15-year-old girl’s claim: that she was held hostage in the couple’s home and raped by Jamrul Hussain.

So as long as the girl is “of age” it’s ok to hold her as a slave and rape her. These people are seriously fucked up. I really hope that they do not find Tengena in the backyard and somehow she is still alive. Somehow…….

I hope Khan and his wifey are sent to prison. I’m glad they decided 15 was too young to be held captive and raped repeatedly, but WTF? Is there some other age at which that would be just fine?

I guess it’s a “cultural” thing. Or, at least, that’s what Mr. Rapey said.

    Oct 12, 2008 at 11:03 pm -

A Hamtramck couple, whom authorities identified as friends of Hussain, were charged in 31st District Court on Wednesday with kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment for allegedly holding the teen in their basement.

Mamunur Rahman Khan and his wife, Hena Begum, no relation to Nilufa Begum, stood mute in court, allowing the magistrate to enter not guilty pleas.

They are to have no contact with the victim and must turn over their passports. Khan’s bail was set at $500,000 and Begum’s at $50,000. The couple are to appear for a preliminary exam Oct. 16.

“She was threatened by her assailant. If she said anything, he would kill her and her family,” Crachiola said. “They told her they’d let her go if she went to the police station and said she ran away.”

After six days, the woman who lives at that home accompanied the 15-year-old to the Hamtramck Police Department to make sure she claimed to be a runaway, Crachiola added. The case had been closed until the teen came forward again Friday, Crachiola said.

The 15-year-old told investigators she knew Hussain because he had repeatedly tried to befriend her as she walked to and from school, police said.

… from article post below :
Hussain is being held in jail on $500,000 bond after being charged in an unrelated case with abducting and molesting a then-14-year-old Hamtramck girl in February.

    back on track …

where do these kids get their last names ?

When Mohammed Ahmed — the father of missing 2-year-old Tangena Hussain of Hamtramck — first heard his daughter had disappeared Oct. 2, he thought it was a joke.

Ahmed, 38, of New York said his ex-wife, Nilufa Begum, 24, was crying when she called him the night Tangena was reported abducted from the locked car of Begum’s boyfriend, Jamrul Hussain.

The two were married for five years and divorced in 2006. They have two other children, ages 7 and 8, who live with Ahmed’s parents in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is in India ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangladesh

long time reader, first time poster. Well hellllllo everyone. I love this site.

I just wanted to note that Tangena’s mom had her first child when she was like 16… and her father would have been 30 at the time.

Gross. Everyone in this story seems to like having sex with teenagers.

    Bangladesh is in India ?

It’s an independent nation - you know, that one that always gets devestated by typhoons. I hear it’s real nice when it’s not under water though. ;)

I think a couple of cultural issues are at play here in the mother’s defense of the boyfriend. Religion is pretty much a personal choice in our own culture, but in Islamic or Hindu nations, it is not something most people even feel they have the option of rejecting, and in some nations, like Iran, there is no option-you can get arrested for not following the Islamic laws-even simple ones like having an overcoat long enough or a headscarf that covers your head fully. Girls can be promised for marriage at any age, but cannot be given until “fit for sexual relations”, which in some cases, was determined to be as young as NINE years old. I am inclined to believe that this woman had been taught that she was nothing without a man, and to obey her man at all costs. Also, the eastern religions tend to look at western culture as so evil that she may think or she may be led by her elders to think that the public and LE are thinking evil thoughts because of our wicked ways.

Just playing devil’s advocate on this one, because I think we do sell cultural differences short in a lot of cases when a person’s background is the foundation for everything that they believe in. I am in no way condoning what the dickwad did to the 15yo or what he may have done to the toddler, and I believe justice should hit this fucker with all she’s got.

More info about the boyfriend’s court date relating to the kidnapping and sexual assault charges.

The defense’s story is that they 15YO and the slimeball were dating. Sorry, but she’s 15!! That’s still statutory rape! Even if it was consentual.

I’m fairly local to this story (same city as the mall where the mother works), and unfortunately, there hasn’t been much on the local news about it in the last week or so. That poor little girl doesn’t deserve whatever bad things may have happened to her.
