9 Charged In Death of Joshua McCabe Bailey

Chapel Hill, NC – How many dumbass rednecks does it take to kill one 20-year-old guy?  Well, for Joshua McCabe Bailey, it took six – and three more accessories after the fact.  Bailey, 20, went missing in July from his Chapel Hill home.   On Friday, September 12, Bailey’s body was found near Jordan Lake in Chatham County. AutopsyAutopsy reviews

20. At that time, North Carolina issued a Silver Alert, which is like an Amber Alert for adults who are suffering from dementia or some other cognitive disability. The last time anyone had seen Bailey alive was on July 21, nearly a month before.
On or about July 29, Bailey met a bad end at the hands of mystery man Matt Johnson and his friends: Brandon Hamilton Greene, 26; Ryan Ladar Davis Lee, 20; Jack Johnson II, 19; Brian Gregory Minton, 18; and Jacob Alexander Maxwell, 18. Bailey was shot in the head with a 9 mm pistol and buried in a shallow grave off Twisted Oak Drive, near Jacob Maxwell’s home in Orange CountyOrange County reviews.
The gaggle of assclowns probably had a motive, but at this point, we don’t know for certain what the motive was. I’ve heard drugs, but I’ve also heard that the six killers just felt like killing somebody, and Bailey seemed a good target.
Whatever the motive, the Chapel Hill Six couldn’t keep their mouths shut. At some point, Brian Minton’s parents found out. Gregory Lee Minton, 41, gave the men instructions on how to move the body and cover up the murder. Mishele Minton, 31, bought body-moving supplies for the group. Another man, Chris Manley, 23, apparently helped with the actual corpse relocation project. The killers then dug up Joshua Bailey’s body and moved it to the Jordan Lake site.
As an aside here, I’m just hoping that Mishele Minton’s age is wrong, or that she is Brian Minton’s stepmother. Otherwise, she popped that asshat when she was all of 13 years old. Just sayin’.
In a bizarre twist in the case, Matt Johnson reported to police in August that he had been kidnapped by three men and a woman and beaten with pipes at a body shop. The suspects in that beating appear to be four of the suspects in Joshua Bailey’s murder. Police think that Matt Johnson was the trigger man in Bailey’s shooting, so your favorite Imp has a theory: Matt Johnson is cutting a deal. It’ll be interesting to see if I’m right.
Brian Minton, Jacob Maxwell, Brandon Greene, Ryan Lee, Jack Johnson II and Matt Johnson have been charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree murder and were ordered held without bond in Orange County court today. Gregory Minton, Mishele Minton, and Chris Manley were each charged with one count of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and are being held in Orange County Jail on $1 million bond apiece.

How do they figure he’s suffering dementia or cognitive impairment a month after he’d gone missing? If he honestly had issues like that, I think it would’ve taken less than a month to get a missing persons report on him. I can’t imagine he’s anything more than a little slow, with that lack of alarm when he first went missing. I suspect it was BS in order to get that silver alert issued for their kid. Which was a pretty smart workaround. Or he really does have serious incapacitating mental issues, and everyone is so bizarrely neglectful to not worry overmuch about his absence for a month. I’m hoping for the “smart.”

Okay, but I knew several of them personally and there was no need for me to look at their myspaces to know what type of people they were, even in person several of them were really friendly and it’s shocking to hear that they were capable of something so horrific.

It’s entirely possible that you’re desensitized. It happened to my clique when we were in high school. We got so used to kickin’ it with people we knew were drug dealers, users or thieves, that we considered it normal and couldn’t believe it when a male friend of our raped a female friend of ours. “How could he have done this?” we asked ourselves when, in reality, there were plenty of red flags there. We just didn’t see them because they were too desensitized.
So, if you did know any of these cats – and I mean know them, not just occasionally passed them in the hallway – I recommend you start associating yourself with a higher echelon of people. If you don’t see this kind of shit coming, it usually means you’re in too deep yourself.

Honestly, the one I knew had never been in trouble, yes he smoked pot, but that was it. He had so much going for him, and it really was unexpected, he wasn’t the last person I had thought would ever do it, but he was no were even near someone that I would expect it from.

Josh did not have any kind of dementia or cognative imparment. I was on of his close friends and his murder was both shocking and upseting. My best friend dated Brian for a few months and we had no idea anyone that we knew was capable of this.. not to mention, targeting one of our close friends. Even though we have no idea what or why this happened, we can assume it was probably drug related. Josh was a great guy, and we all miss him a lot. (but not his fucking country music he always made me listen to.)

I dont know if anyone is even still paying attention to this case…but I wanted to set the record straight. I don’t know anything about any of the other guys in the case, except for Jacob, but I know him better than anyone…he is my little brother. Before all of this happened he was one of the most caring and compassionate people you could meet. I wish to God I knew what had changed in the past few months and why he would start to hang out with such low lifes; maybe it was the need for acceptance since many of his good friends had just gone off to college. Maybe the idea of these guys being older, or maybe drugs had something to do with it, I honestly dont know. All I know is that this is not Jacob, he is a good person and I pray to God that he has some how been set up in this implication. If you look at the records everyone else has some sort of criminal activity, everyone except Jacob; that should tell you something. Everyone is entitled to say what they want, I simply want to clarify the facts of who he is as a person.

The initial reports that the mother was 31 have been corrected. She was 37 and is reported in all future stories as 37.
I went to school with her and recognized the unusual spelling of her name. I’m 37 as well so I’m sure it was a typo on the forms (31/37)
The young man in question wasn’t suffering from dementia but he was manic depressive, had other mental illnesses and was adopted from foster care after being abused – which were all made worse by substance abuse/use. Combined I think the assessment was that he wasn’t always capable of making clear decisions and for that, the silver alert was issued.
