Bradenton, FL - I understand how really annoying teenagers can be. Sometimes raising a teenage girl means you really just want to lock ‘em up and throw away the key. But I think David Ingram, 48, and his wife Peggy Ingram, 51, overreacted on FridayFriday reviews
night.
Now the Ingram’s 17-year-old daughter is in the hospital with a skull fracture, which she sustained after freeing herself from the trunk of the family car. Oh, yeah.. the car was moving at the time.  And the girl’s wrists and ankles had been bound with duct tape. And the girl’s head and face had been covered.   Denizens, that does not sound like “you’re grounded” to me.Â
At about 11:00 p.m. Friday night, the girl managed to get a hand out of the duct tape handcuffs and then remove the hood over her face and the bonds around her ankles. Her parents were driving the car, but the girl didn’t know where they were going.
Once she’d regained some movement, the girl kept her cool and was able to find the trunk’s release cord – a move that, in my opinion, probably saved her life. I cannot imagine any good or healthy reason that both parents would bind a child, cover her face, put her in the car trunk in Florida in late summer at night, and start driving.  I’m betting there was a gun, or she was going to be strangled, and her parents were going to tell people she’d run away.
The release cord popped the trunk and the girl carefully crawled out of the moving car and dropped herself to the pavement. She suffered cuts, bruises, and a rather nasty skull fracture, but did manage to attract enough attention to get help. The girl was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, but was then transferred to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg due to the severity of her head injury. Her condition this morning is listed as “guarded”, and her name is not being released.
Upon questioning by police, both David and Peggy Ingram admitted to the binding and putting their daughter in the trunk, although they refused to give a motive or talk about what they were planning to do with the girl. Both Ingrams were charged with aggravated child abuse and false imprisonment. On Sunday, the couple was released from Manatee County Jail after posting $7,000 bail each.
Here’s hoping there’s a bond condition keeping them away from their daughter. I’d hate for that child to have a “little accident” in the hospital.

Ummmm WTF is wrong with these people? And yes, good for her on keeping her cool and getting out, you go girl!
And I do hope they can never have contact with her again, you know they were going to kill their own child, but why is what I want to know. Just Why?

It’s amazing how a persons survival instinct kicks in, isn’t it. Thank God this poor girl was able to get free. I dare say the final outcome was to kill her. They couldn’t have let her survive.
I hope they die screaming.

Oh, my. What were they thinking. MAkes you wonder what the porr girl did that could possibly warrant that! Hickey?? Stoned??? Who knows. Maybe she did nothing and her parents are just mental. Thank God she got away.

How terrible that this poor girl first has parents like this and second that she had to go through that. I am thankful that she got out of trunk and will pray she makes a good recovery , also it would be interesting to find out what they were going to do with her??? I just wander? Lock these two jackasses up and throw the key away, wow

man that gal has some balls…imagine knowing ur own parents were probably going to kill u!…not only that but they’ve already tied u up and stuffed u in a trunk…really wtf is with people now adays..some parents have no regard. i would like to see them get their asses kicked hard in or outa prison…eather way thank god she escaped alive and she can testify against her folks…fuckin idiots!

damn, only $7000 bail?? they planned to kill her! why else would the take it that far to tape her up and blindfold her?

This was the first time the girl had snuck out to have a date. I guess this sort of reaction would make her consider joining a convent to prove to her parents that she wasn’t dating anyone!

Fuckin’ nosy ass neighbors! Ever hear of walking across the street and asking her guardian if she knew what was up? Or better yet… MINDING YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS? The girl wasn’t dragged kicking and screaming into that boys car… why did they give a damn?
Then you have mom and dad who, on their way to get her, stopped to pick up the duct tape? Why? Is this normal procedure in their disciplinary plans?
At least they did have a moment of clarity when they took her to the hospital! That is the ONLY thing they seem to have done right that night.
Hope the girl recovers fully and the parents are punished accordingly.

I assume they weren’t just neighbors, but friends of the parents who recognized when their daughter was busy doing something she wasn’t supposed to be. Heck, for all we know it was a sociopath of a boy her parents had been struggling to seperate her from. Eh, can’t duct tape them and toss them in a trunk, but people always seem to want to hold you criminally liable for any crazy thing your teen does, lol. Locking them in their room, btw, is also illegal.

Even if he were some sociopath her parents didn’t want her seeing… it’s not like she was home alone and snuck out… she was with her Godparents and left. If the parents had a problem, I’d think the FIRST to know would be the Godparents who were in charge… not the nosy neighbor across the street. Just my 2 cents.
As for locking kids in their rooms being illegal… where? Since when?
When my daughter was 5, she flat out refused to stay in her room. Night after night after night I would put her back in and try to hold the door closed (any idea how strong a 5 year old can be when they want to win?? Fuck!) I lost quite a few of those tug of wars! lol
Eventually, I asked her counselor about this (daughter was/is ADHD) She said to reverse the lock on the bedroom door! It worked, too. Of course, eventually I also had to put child safety things on her window, too. (She hated bedtime – now she lives for it!) Only things she didn’t try were boring through the walls and digging tunnels! lol. This was in Florida and it’s hard for me to believe a conselor would tell me to do something illegal.

By the way… I always unlocked it before I went to sleep at night and/or when her brother went to bed. Even though I would have heard anything thru the wall… I wanted her and her 6 yr old brother to be able to come to me if they needed me in the middle of the night. I just made sure all the locks to the outside were engaged so they couldn’t leave the house!
Once she understood that bedtime was bedtime, I no longer locked it.

Okay, perhaps I misspoke – it’s considered child abuse in many places, but not in every state. It’s a huge red flag to CPS, and when you’re fostering children, it’s a gigantic no. (We were advised, when we inquired, to put an alarm on the door of a very emotionally disturbed child whom you didn’t want out at night unattended.) But if you’re doing this to your own kids, it’s unlikely to come to anyone’s attention unless it’s part of a larger pattern of abuse. Besides, it’s a safety issue, and not terribly effective either. Especially not for the teen set.

Well… as I said… she was 5 (she’s 21 now) and it wasn’t something I thought up. I trusted that her counselor wouldn’t advise me to do something illegal. And it was short-term.
I think if we had lived in a place with a different layout than we did, I probably wouldn’t even have taken that advice. As it was, the living room faced her bedroom… maybe 7 or 8 feet distance. In a 2 story home? Would’ve asked the counselor for “Plan B”.
With teens… I think that alarm idea would be worth looking into.

The jury in this case arrived at a not guilty verdict in the case of David Ingram this afternoon. Peggy Ingram pleaded guilty to the same charges, but I assume that the jury was not informed of this. I have no idea how sane, reasonable people felt that (under any circumstances!) threatening to kill, duct taping, and placing a 17-year-old girl in the trunk was less than criminal. Great bodily harm was inflicted, in the form of a skull fracture and permanent scars – physical and emotional. I am horrified that this man – who feels he has done nothing wrong has been validated by a jury. Careful kids – apparently, it’s open season.

BRADENTON — A father was found not guilty of tying up his teenager daughter and locking her in the trunk of a car Friday afternoon after a six-person jury deliberated for a little over a hour.
estimony during the five-day trial at the Manatee County Judicial Center revealed the couple, David and Peggy Ingram, did not want their daughter to run away.
So they bound her head, hands and feet with duct tape, put a wool cap over her head and threw her in the trunk of their car.
As they drove away from 27th Street East on Sept. 12, the couple turned up the radio to drown out their 17-year-old daughter’s apologies and prayers to Jesus.
Somehow, the high school senior broke free from the bindings, opened the trunk using a glow-in-the dark release hatch and jumped from the moving car.
“It was never good decision, but it was never a criminal one,” Young said.
Tears ran down family member’s faces as the verdict was read. Arms were placed around Peggy Ingram.
Ingram pleaded no contest to a false imprisonment charge and was sentenced to 18 months of probation. Under a plea deal with prosecutors, she agreed to testify against her husband.
The couple walked away from the courthouse with their arms encircling each other.
Prior to Sept. 12, the teen had been acting out, Young said. Her parents learned she’d become sexually active and had gotten pregnant by an older man, known only as Eddie. Lawyers did not say how old he was.

What a crock of shit. I can’t believe he was found not guilty. If the child had died, would the jury outcome be the same? At least now I know I can throw the kids in the trunk and drive them around when they misbehave. Wow, utterly disgusting.
