School Nurse Laura Obzera Got Caught

Bolingbrook, IL - Laura Obzera is an elementary school nurse at Wood View Elementary School in Bolingbrook, Illinois. But that’s not why she’s sad in her mugshot above (and what a mugshot it is). Laura Obzera is sad because she got caught. Obzera, 49, is accused of having sex with multiple underage boys.
The victims in this case range in age from 13 to 17. They are not being identified, but it appears that Obzera did not meet the boys through her job.
The investigation into Obzera’s activities began with a hotline call on September 1 regarding “sexually charged text messages” that were taking place between Obzera and a minor boy. When the Department of Children and Families went to investigate, they found the text messages and interviewed one victim, who led them to other victims.
Police were called, and during the investigation, all the boys said that the sexual activity occurred nearly two years ago, in 2006. However, some of the text messages allegedly indicated more recent contact. It appears that there were three victims, and all of them reported sexual contact with Obzera.
Wood View Elementary has said that no molestation occurred on school grounds. That’s supposed to make parents feel better about knowing that their school “health assistant” likes the young stuff.  Now, I’m a nurse myself. And I know that school nurses have plenty of up close and personal contact with their students. Never once have I checked out a kid and gone “Hey, that looks pretty hot. Think I’ll set up a date for later.” But with Nurse Laura, I think that’s a very real probability.
If Laura Obzera is guilty (and from the evidence presented so far, she likely is), there is no reason to believe that these are isolated events that happened two years ago and not since.  Violating an underage child is the antithesis of everything for which the nursing profession stands. I don’t care if she blew the kid once in a whole other state, her students’ parents have good reason to be alarmed. If your kid has gone to Wood View Elementary, it’s time to sit down for a little chat about Nurse Laura. And no, there is no reason for a rectal temperature to be done at school, in case you were wondering.
Obzera was arrested on Thursday and charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. She has already made her $50,000 bail and is currently at home. I suggest she take this pre-trial time to examine her life, surrender her nursing license, and do something about that hot mess of hair and facial shine.

I knew Laura too. Our sons used to play baseball together, and I remember the family being very nice, and I hate that they are going through this. Laura is innocent. There is no way she would do something like this. This all started with Kelsey’s boyfriend. He sure has done a good job of turning Kelsey against her family. I know Laura just wants what’s best for Kelsey, and she has good reason to know that it is not Alex. He wanted his revenge against her, and he is getting it. I just pray the truth all comes out.

You know, it isn’t always a double standard, just sometimes a different standard. Male or female, if you fuck a willing 13 or 14 yr old, I call it slimey, appalling, even indecent. But I don’t call it rape. There’s a touchy line in there somewhere between child and budding adult that I don’t think you can blindly draw in the same place for everyone. I can’t look straight in the eyes of a kid that age and tell them I believe they have no rights over their own body, let alone specify to them exactly what they may or may not do with their own cunt or cock. (And I’d have been furious had someone attempted to wield that power over my body at that age.) I think some sort of misdemeanor criminal offense may be called for when a grown-up persists in cruising the teen set. But I don’t call it pedophilia, and it isn’t rape. It’s just a difficult situation all the way around. Now what I find heinous about this nurse is that it’s hugely unethical for someone in a position of power or authority over someone else to go cruising them for sex. And this doesn’t stop at school teachers for me, but also university professors, or sports coaches, or Sargeants in the army. But I don’t feel like every adult necessarily posesses power over a teen. So we agree that this school nurse is well out of line, but we disagree a bit in the details, and that doesn’t necessarily indicate a double standard.

Most prosecutors are usually reasonably confident of conviction if a case goes to court.

I disagree. We have such laws to protect teens from themselves. They may feel that they are adults, but they are kids who are in the beginning of learning adult life. If a law restrains a kid from doing something that will be likely to come to seem a big mistake as she/he grows older, then that’s a good thing. Of course you would have thrown a fit if someone had tried to protect you from your own immature choices, that’s what immaturity is.
