Arielle Smith Uses Clothes Dryer To Kill Infant

UPDATE 1-10-2009: On Thursday, a grand jury ruled that the 19-year-old Arielle Smith should stand trial on a second degree murder charge after she was ruled mentally competent.
NEW ORLEANS – 19-year-old Arielle Smith was placed in charge of 5-month-old Andre Jenkins and his 18-month-old brother. Their mother had dropped them off at her home to go to work. Some time later, the mother, Brandy Dozier, received a phone call from Smith telling her that Andre was not breathing.
When police arrived, they found Andre dead with burns on his body. Ariel Smith initially told them it came from an accidental spill of boiling water. She later confessed to putting the boy in a dryer and turning it on. She stated that the children were being rambunctious and interfering with her watching the day time soaps. She sent the two older children in another room, and placed Andre in a dryer after removing the clothes that were already in it.
She came back 3-minutes later to find Andre not breathing. She took Andre out, put the clothes back in and then called her boyfriend and Andre’s mother. When paramedics arrived, they found Andre dead on the living room floor. Andre suffered skull fractures as well as burns on his feet, face, head, arms and legs. She was initially arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder. This charge carried a death penalty, but a magistrate judge found evidence sufficient to hold her on the lesser charge of second-degree murder which could mean she would spend the rest of her life in prison. Arielle now sits in the Parish Correctional Center in lieu of a $500,000 bond .

I looked at the poor mom’s Myspace, which was private, but there was a pic of the baby there. He looked like a big healthy baby- I mean, the poor guy would have made alot of noise tumbling in a dryer. The bitch HAD to know that it was killing him in a most horrible way. Let’s save the state some money. The bitch already confessed, right? No need for a trial. I believe that some creativity applied to sentencing criminals could be a real deterrent to future offenders. This woman’s sentence should be that she is locked in a room with the poor baby’s mother. Whatever happens to Ariel Smith in this room, she deserves. The state is saved the expense of housing & feeding this waste of DNA.
If she survives the room, her uterus should be removed, as she is obviously not fit to reproduce. And she requires a forehead tattoo: “NO CHILDREN WITHIN 20 FEET”. Hmm, too long…how about: I KILL BABIES.

Hi guys. I haven’t ever commented because you all already say everything that could possibly be said!
But in this case, I wanted to share something that happened to me several years ago….
My clothes dryer was full of towels and I turned it on for a few minutes just to warm them up before folding them. Apparently, my son had gotten one out earlier and not fully closed the door. I didn’t think I needed to check inside before turning it on. The VERY SECOND the drum began rotating, I heard a LOUD ‘THUMP THUMP’ coming from inside. I mean, I hadn’t even turned away from the machine to walk into the next room–the sound was instant upon pushing the ’start’ button. OF COURSE I opened the door to find out what was going on and one of my cats stuck his head out from the pile of towels. We went straight to the vet, I didn’t even call and tell them we were coming. Poor guy, he was dizzy and disoriented but x-rays showed no broken bones and he recovered quickly to live a long happy kitty life.
Now, this cat was in a dryer with about 10 big fluffy, dry towels. He couldn’t have gone around more than twice. My guess is that he had buried himself in the middle, so he wasn’t necessarily even actually banging around on the outside during the whole ordeal. He weighed around 15 pounds-big, fat kitty. I’ve got to say that I don’t believe there’s any way in hell this woman didn’t hear the baby thumping around when she turned the dryer on. Especially if it was empty. I don’t care how frustrated a person is, that sound had to tell her that the baby was being badly injured.
Thank goodness she’s being charged with first degree murder. Hopefully, there be no plea bargain.

Oh great….one from my hometown. With the level of stupidity of some of the residents of New Orleans, I’m surprised I haven’t seen one sooner.
They do have the death penalty in Louisiana, but I definitely think the punishment should fit the crime. Maybe they will put her to work in the prison laundry and her cell-mates will show her what it feels like to die in a dryer.

Without a doubt, if I put my children in the care of someone else and they were harmed in any way, especially in this horrible way as this poor baby — hopefully, I’d arrive before the police. I would find the heaviest thing I could find and beat that bitches face to a pulp and then wait for the cops. An eye for an eye you dirty, worthless, piece of human waste.

I’d like to know what evidence could possibly lesson charges on something so cruel and inhumane? Because she is young? Does she not know any better? Why have the death penalty if there is always going to be a reason to prevent someone from getting it?
