Antioch, CA - Jasmine Davis was a 15-year-old girl who should have just been getting home from the first day of school like other kids her age. Instead, at 3:15 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 2, police discovered her dead body. She had allegedly been beaten to death that morning. It was obvious she’d suffered abuse for a long time.Â

Jasmine had been living with Shemeeka, although it’s unclear as to their relationship. Some newspapers state Shemeeka is the girl’s aunt, others say she was their foster parent, and others call her the adoptive mother.
It turns out Jasmine wouldn’t be on her way home from school anyway. According to police, the older children had been confined to an upstairs bedroom and hadn’t attended school in almost a year. School records show Jasmine, who liked to go by “Jazzmin,” was enrolled in Antioch High School for the 2007-2008 school year, but there is no record of attendance since OctoberOctober reviews
2007, when the family withdrew her from school.
No teacher ever reported signs of abuse and no one questioned why she was withdrawn from school.
Lt. Leonard Orman, who has been on the force for 23 years, was one officer who responded to the scene. He told the press it was “the most extreme case of long-term abuse that I’ve ever seen.â€
On top of physical abuse, Jasmine and her twin brother had been living in a filthy upstairs bedroom and were rarely allowed to leave.
“It was the type of thing you’d see in a prisoner of war camp,” Orman said.
Shemeeka’s other 3 children, ages 18, 17, and 7, appeared to live in healthy, normal conditions.
If one good thing came out of this story, it’s that the death of Jasmine arguably saved her brother’s life.
Orman said Jasmine’s twin showed signs of severe beating as well, with “head to toe injuries.”
Her twin, along with the 7-year-old, are in protective custody. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday to determine the exact cause of death. Police say Jasmine’s twin has been detailing all the abuse they suffered to police, but it has not been released to the public.
Shemeeka is being held without bail on suspicion of murder and three counts of federal corporal punishment with enhancements for causing great bodily injury.
Updated 9/4/08: Preliminary autopsy reports on Jasmine Davis reveal the teenager was the victim of severe physical abuse. The autopsy began today and will be completed tomorrow, when the exact cause of death will be announced.
Results released today state that Jasmine had burns on many areas of her body and shows signs of being beat with belts and electrical cords.
Shemeeka told police that she just “loses control sometimes.”
Oh, and a new report says Shemeeka’s 7-year-old also shows signs of long term abuse, though no details have been released.
It was also revealed that the San Francisco DHS was supposed to be making regular visits to the Davis home, but the last visit made was September 2007. It’s not clear why San Francisco officials were in charge of the Davis case, since it is 45 miles away from Antioch.
And guess what? Tax payers in San Francisco were giving this monster $13,104 a year to take care of Jasmine and her twin. Shemeeka received another $1,700 a month in housing allowance from Costa County, and $9,800 a year to take care of her mother.
Still no word on what happened to Jasmine’s parents, but one report stated Shemeeka has been their foster parent since birth.
The Contra Costa District Attorney’s office said they plan to press charges on FridayFriday reviews. If that happens, Shemeeka would probably be arraigned that same day.

Fuck, that’s a scary mugshot. She doesn’t look like she’s ever even heard of the word “remorse.” She just looks really, really pissed off that she got busted. What a piece of shit.
I’m glad to hear that the brother is safe now, but at such a terrible price. No doubt he has a long way to go to recover from this experience.
I wonder if the murderer herself is the one that led the police to the home. Don’t you just love these stories where someone beats their kid to death and then calls the police, as if that is going to bring them back or take back the long-term abuse the kid had been suffering already. It’s ridiculous. At least Shemeeka didn’t try to blame the bathtub.
How sad that the kids had been essentially missing for a year without anyone noticing or doing anything about it up until now. Awful that this girl had to die before anyone came to help, and by then it was too late.

ABSOLUTELY VERY HURTFUL STORY….. I am glad the twin is alive and yes he will need alot of time to get through his horrific, scary, unimaginable experiences with this DEMON!!! May she rot in HELL and DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH, (sorry god for thinkiing like that), but if the shoe fits, likethey say……. NO EXCUSES AT ALL FOR THIS BEHAVIOR and where were the other children?????? DID they not know of these two children being tortured ???? by MOM????? why did they not do anything? As for the school system, why were they allowed to be pulled out of school and not go, why does no one care for humanity anymore?????? I PRAY TO GOD THAT SHE GETS EVERYTHING COMING TO HER AND THEN SOME AND GOD BLESS HER SOUL FOR THE UNFORTUNATE TWIN WHO DID NOT SURVIVE!!!! WTF?????

That poor girl! Thats is one U-G-L-Y ass BITCH! EWWW WEEEEE, man! Just looking at her is abuse enough! She will rot! She will be miserable and appears to have always been miserable! The girl brother will never fully recover emotionally and mentally! That is SO SO sad!

I’m glad this piece of shit will never have the opportunity to do this to another child.
It absolutely rips my heart out when I read these stories of children that died probably never knowing what it feels like to be loved and nurtured. The two most basic things a parent/guardian can provide.

I think it’s terrible that teachers didn’t report her absent which would have brought attention to her before this terrible situation.
Was the her twin as severely abused? The “mother” will go the insanity road!

This bitch was all about the money. She didn’t care about those kids. Our social systems are so damn broken. It’s just sad that those twins lived in a house of horror and her youngest child too. I would like to “loose control” on her ass.

God, what a horrible thing for a child to go through. This poor girl didnt have a fighting chance. To die at 15 years old.
Another story of failure for DHS. Surprise surprise. Everyone will just shake their heads, and do NOTHING. Because the people who CAN do something, won’t. The rest of us are fucking powerless, this isn’t a democracy. No matter who you vote in or out, they all do NOTHING unless it benefits them.

this is really sad for me ta hear bout kuz i know this family.
i read all these things ppl are writing bout shemeeka and what happened n its really wierd ta hear this wen you know tha ppl on a personal level. jasmine was a really good kid.. me n my sister liked ta joke around wit her and her twin brother. they were all really good and good hearted kids. i kuldnt believe this wen i found out kuz my mom had seen it on tv n then we looked it up on abc news.com n i was shocked. instantly tears filled my eyes. i was in disbelief. i still kan barely believe it. i hope all yall other kids are doin alrite!! i havnt seen yall around ina minute.. i hope yall doin ok. but cheaa.. its really wierd kuz u see stuff lyke this onn tha news all tha time n dnt think anything of it.. you wuld never expect ta c sumone u kno on tha news fa sumthin lyke this.
