Cape Coral, FL - There are people who can teach their children at home, and people who should never try. Carol Refeena Kanhai, 41, landed firmly in the latter category on Saturday afternoon. Her five-year-old son, one of Kanhai’s four children, was working on his numbers at the kitchen table while Kanhai folded laundry nearby. As the little boy began to have trouble writing the number “3″, Kanhai flew into a rage and began to beat the child with a belt, screaming “It’s me and your shit today. I’m going to kill you with licks!”
Yeah, anyone wanna bet that kid has trouble writing his “3″s until he’s in college? Either that or he will write the most beautiful “3″s in the history of children. Poor little guy. The child was beaten until his back was crisscrossed with large raised welts and red marks. Kanhai’s 19-year-old son was in the home and heard the incident, but, as in many homes where abuse is sporadic and explosive, he did not intervene. Kanhai’s husband, who came home shortly after the incident, did. To Steve Kanhai’s credit, he called 911 and reported his wife for the beating of their son.
Carol Kanhai married her husband Steve in 2007. A native of Trinidad, her Myspace says that she doesn’t like living in the US and would like to go back - maybe because Americans generally get all cranky if you beat your kids, I dunno. And speaking of that Myspace - oh holy cats, denizens, it is a piece of work. Check this, from her profile information:
I am a stay at home mom.i am a child of God.i am married to the one i love name Steve. He gave me his last name on my birthday on the year of 2007.I have 4 boys. Two from my previous marriage and two from steve.I am still waiting on a little girl.i was born in Trinidad on February 23, 1967.i am 41 years of age.my parents still live in trinidad.i hope and pray to go back home one day.i am still waiting on my papers from steve.and my childrens passports.the American live is not for me.i can not wait for the day that its just me and my family.everyone else needs to stay out the door. i do not like pigs in my house and if you can just come in someone house and do what you want and then leave then you are consider pigs.no no not in my house, the devils work stays outside.
Oh, oohhhkay. Except, um, Mrs. Kanhai? Sounds like the devil’s work was being done by you, in the kitchen, with a belt. It’s like Domestic Violence Clue : The Home Game!
Kanhai says she enjoys “church, holly music, and The Passion Of The Crist”. Um, looks like she needs to work on more than writing her numbers. How ’bout some remedial spelling, there, Carol? Don’t be picking on the baby for his 3s when you can’t stumble through a sentence or spell the name of your God. Priorities, woman!
I do not get these crazy legalistic wingnut fringe religious types who really believe God wants them to beat the living hell out of their kids. Seriously, I have said this before, but that is not what Jesus meant when He said “suffer the little children”, people.
Carol Kanhai was arrested on a charge of felony child abuse. She was booked into the Lee County Jail in Cape Coral, where her husband let her stay overnight and all the next day before bailing her out on $5000 bond.

Deport her ass back to Trinidad after finding her guilty of child abuse.
Stupid bitch.

According to the local paper here, “Steve Kanhai told police his wife has used too much force on the children previously and that he did not agree with it, the arrest report says.”
But, if he bailed her out, he’s a dumbass.
I looked her up on the Lee County Sheriff site. http://www.sheriffleefl.org/ab.....tsrch.aspx
There are three Kanhai’s listed - one being “Steve Kanhai” for different charges including domestic violence in the past. Also a 22 year old female arrested for being an idiot. It may or may not be the same family, but I suspect it is.

Her smug little face pisses me off. Good for you dad, let’s hope you can succeed in taking those kids away from her permanently.

Aug 26, 2008 at 3:46 pm -What qualifies someone to be able to home school their child??? Anyone know?
How the hell is she allowed to? Look at her myspace - she cannot even write.
With parents like her home schooling their children, what are the chances their kids are go anywhere in life?
Shouldn’t parents have to be assessed before home schooling is alowed prior to being 16 (isn’t that the age where a child can drop out of school?)?

Aug 26, 2008 at 3:48 pm -From the look of her writing skills, it is just as likely that the kid was writing his 3s the right way and she is dyslexic and whipping him to write it backwards….
Stupid F***!!!

Aug 26, 2008 at 4:11 pm -So is there any chance this dumbass will be going back to Trinidad? I wonder why Steve keeps her around, unless he’ afraid she’ll kidnap the kids and take them with her.

Aug 26, 2008 at 4:55 pm -LOL…being an idiot….snicker
The 22 yr old female lives at the same address listed for ol’ Steve on his booking report, so I’m betting it’s all the same lovely family.
How the hell did this ignorant, uneducated bitch qualify to home-school?? Don’t you have to take some kind of test first?? There’s no way she passed!

Aug 26, 2008 at 7:27 pm -PURE SPECULATION: Maybe Stevey took the test to qualify for her. Is that possible, homeschoolers?
I also want to know how she qualified to get married. Stevey must have a few screws loose.

Aug 27, 2008 at 4:04 am -Yeah, FL is off of our vacation list this year.
And what did you expect? This woman clearly stated that she loves torture porn - I’m sorry, The Passion of the, umm, Crist. That is one gruesome film. I watched it one time, and never again. I was so deeply traumatized. But it’s her favorite. *shakes head*

Yay for dad that he called the popo, but damn did he really bail her out??
I also think it’s up to the states what you have to do to home school. My daughter in law that will be having my new granddaughter ‘any minute now”! Is going to home school Sirius and Sami.
She’s already been getting everything she needs know and how it’s reported and Sirius is only two and the little ones not even born yet!
