Howard Timblin (L), and Edward Timblin, (R)
Jamestown, NY - Just after midnight Tuesday morning, a 68-year-old woman was left outside the Jamestown Police Station and had to make her way up the curb and steps on her own. A simple task made difficult because she is physically disabled — walking with the aid of a walker and using an oxygen tank.
Apparently, the woman’s husband, Howard Timblin, dropped her off after their son Edward Timblin threw her out of the home the three shared.
Howard Timblin Jr., 70, and Edward Timblin, 45, are charged with endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person. I’m not sure that husband and son are the proper terms to be using here because that usually implies care and concern, Taking a cue from Howard’s shirt which says “The Beast is Back”, I’ll use “beast” instead.
On Monday evening, police were called to a verbal domestic dispute at the home between her and both beasts. The woman told them elder beast and junior beast were harassing and mistreating her. Officers did what they could to difuse the situation and left.
Some time after the police left, both beasts allegedly told the woman she was no longer welcome there. Junior beast, Edward, who fancies himself the master of the domain, evicted his mother. At which time the elder beast, Howard, promptly loaded her into the car and drove to the police station.
Around 12:30 Tuesday morning, a Jamestown officer saw Howard dump her off unceremoniously in front of the station and leave. After she was checked out by paramedics, officers returned her to her home.
During interviews with the not-so-loving suspects at the house, it was determined that the mother couldn’t care for herself. That resulted in endangerment charges. Although they both beasts received the same charge, different actions by each led to the charges and imply different degrees of criminality.
Elder beast Howard was released to the custody of the Chautauqua County Department of Probation and beast Edward was sent to the county jail under a $1,000 bail.
A neighbor reported that the woman had complained in the past about the treatment from the beasts and he encouraged her to call authorities. The woman had said she was afraid of junior beast and didn’t know what he was going to do. The neighbor figures that last night she finally had had enough.
The Jamestown Police Department’s domestic violence program, Project Crossroads, is working to find a new home for the victim. Beast-free.
