I can understand a mother becoming incredibly frustrated with a 16 year old son to the point that she would want to escalate it to physicality. Some 16 year old boys tower over their mothers and are significantly stronger than their moms. In addition, I have seen some 15-17 year olds hit their moms.

So, striking a 16 year old son with his skateboard can be understood if you consider the possible circumstances of what was going on between them. Remember, I said it can be understood – but not “right”. We do not know what has happened prior to this. But nothing can justify hitting the boy with the car.

Family situations can get crazy. I have a suspicion that violence is a common occurence in this household. Hopefully, they will be on Dr. Phil in a couple weeks – and this will turn into the “feel good” story of the year…

…This sounds like JUST A LITTLE more than “preemptive self defense”…I did not read anywhere it said the witnesses “thought the women feared for her life” AFTER she clocks her son over the head with a skateboard,and jumps in her car to run him over…LOL… Maybe,JUST MAYBE the kid is mouthy cuz his mom is a demanding violent bastard? Just like ANY OTHER situation a person is a victim…bigger,smaller,whatever…you GO TO POLICE,you DO NOT run people over!,LOL …You’ve also NEVER seen this person,so its a total assumption that he “towers” his mother…Maybe he is frail,and abused,and maybe he is the one who shoulda done the running over

I’ve been wondering how to deal with a mouthy 7 year old boy. Now I know….

Yeah, you only have to run them over once or twice and they get the message.

It started at a Tooele skate park on the evening of August 5. Blood went to get her son, who is sixteen years old. 

I wonder what life will be like in this family when HE gets old enough to drive. “Oh, that’s just the Bloods — if Alicia ain’t chasing her boy in a car, he’s trying to drive her down. They got so darned fast they’ve gotten into marathons and are making money.”

Hitting a kid with a skateboard doesn’t mean she knocked him out with it. How hard did she hit him with it? Did he have a helmet on? etc… No, it’s never right – but depending upon prior circumstances, I can “understand” a woman doing it. That doesn’t mean I agree with it, only that I can understand it.

Clearly, the car thing is a whole new level of bat-shit crazy behavior I cannot understand – and she should be prosecuted to the Nth degree for it.

I raised 4 stepkids and 2 of my own and never put hit any of them with a skateboard, scooter, dirt bike, motorcycle, 4 wheeler, subcompact or full sized auto. But I know what you’re saying scotchyscotch, because I often wished I could hit them with large, ponderous objects.Now Mrs. Blood (seriously??) is a piece of work. They didn’t mention if she was under the influence in any other article, did they?

Wow that is a whole lot of crazy going on! I have been angry enough to want to hit my son in the head so I understand the thought, but as a parent you just have to let it go, regroup, breath, whatever. I found the walk to his room to disconnect and remove all electronics and objects not deemed necessary by the department of social services and carry those items out to the garage one box at a time to be very theraputic. The talking back that a teenage boy can spit out subsides completely with in a few days of 4 complete outfits, 1 pillow, a sheet, blanket and a light being the only possesions and entertainment available. Well I guess I rambled on about that and I apologize but there are just so many other approaches that someone who must hit a child with a skateboard and run them down with a car should never ever ever be allowed to raise any child again.

No….it is not understandable. I have 4 teen-agers, all of them mouthy at some point or another. As an adult, it isn’t that hard to walk the fuck away and gain composure. I have spent many, many hours counting to 10…..1,000 even. But smacking a kid with a skateboard and running him over with a car is psycho. Pure and simple.
