North Charleston, SC - Carnies, you can all feel a little safer tonight. Shawn Phillips, 27, has been convicted of murder, and is now facing a minimum of 30 years in prison for the execution-style crime of blasting Robert Vargo’s brains out in his hotel room. It was all part of a planned robbery, apparently consisting of Shawn and three of his friends breaking into Vargo’s room to swipe the money he kept in his shoes.
Shawn and his four friends held Vargo down on his bed and shot him in the head through the pillow they were using to keep him solidly in place. After their bloody deed, they got away with their fantastic prize of $50.
The other man involved in the shooting of the innocent carnie had his trial end with a hung jury - Phillips can now potentially provide new testimony for Lennie Franklin Mickey’s retrial. Our other two carnival haters, Alana Ponce Niesen and Sandra Campbell, have yet to go to trial.
So, dear clowns and freaks and carnival announcers, rest easy - one of those sadistic coulrophobiac dingbats is off the streets for at least the next 3 decades.

Actually most carnies will only take what they need and have the boss hold the rest in most cases because many know the dangers and well many have alcohol and drug problems and call themselves protecting self and money. Not a bad plan in most cases. Sadly it did not protect this poor carnie.
