UPDATE 08/01/08 : JUSTICE ROSE BROWN HAS BEEN FOUND SAFE. Joel Brown took his daughter into the Wayne County, NC Sheriff’s Office this morning and turned himself in. Justice is safe and her father is now in custody.

Justice Rose Brown, 2, and Joel K. Brown
Chicopee, MA - Is it missing little girl week on the East Coast, or is it just me? Just days after Reigh Storrow Boss was stolen by her father on a Boston street, little Justice Rose Brown has been abducted from her Massachusetts day care by HER non-custodial father, Joel K. Brown. Justice, 2, was kidnapped from the Arbors Day Care Center in Chicopee at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Yesterday afternoon, Justice’s mother, Robin Brown, went to pick up her child at daycare. When she got there, her ex-husband Joel Brown was there - in violation of a restraining order filed in February. Joel Brown assaulted Robin, grabbed little Justice, and took off in a black or navy blue four door car with North Carolina plates. Joel Brown hadn’t even been in the picture for several months, having moved to either Florida or North Carolina after the restraining order was issued.
Day care employees called police, and witnesses managed to get a partial North Carolina plate number: either R858L or RB58L. Investigators believe that Brown may be headed for New York - just like the Rockefeller-Boss kidnapping from Sunday.
And, much like the Rockefeller case, New York has yet to issue an Amber Alert. In this case, however, Massachusetts didn’t initially issue an Amber Alert either. In fact, a Massachusetts Amber Alert has not yet been issued despite Chicopee police saying that Joel Brown is known to be violent and that little Justice may be in danger. Is this an example of the effects of “missing pretty white girl” syndrome?
Justice Rose Brown is two years old - she will turn three on August 23. She is a black female, about three feet tall and 33 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white Las Vegas Guardian Angels t-shirt, red shorts, and purple sandals, and her hair is braided on top and curly in the back.
Joel K. Brown is 43. He is a black male, 6′2″ tall. He weighs about 180 pounds and has his hair in dreadlocks. It’s unclear what he was wearing when he assaulted Robin Brown and took their daughter. He is believed to be driving a black or navy blue four door Chevy Cobalt with North Carolina plates.
If you see Justice Brown or Joel K. Brown, please call 911.
UPDATE 08/01/08 : An Amber Alert has now been issued in the abduction of Justice Rose Brown, and new vehicle information has been released. Justice has severe food allergies which require medication, and she needs an epi-pen with her at all times. Justice was taken without her medications or her epi-pen, which is used to inject epinephrine in case of a severe allergic reaction that could close her airway. Without this medicine, she could go into anaphylactic shock and die if she is fed nuts or other foods to which she is allergic.
Authorities believe she may now be in North Carolina around Smithfield or Goldsboro. The vehicles to watch for are a dark or black 2003 Ford F-150 with NC license tag number 1LUVNR, and a dark Chevy four door with North Carolina tag number R858L. Police do not think Joel Brown knows Justice has to have her medication.

…. This is getting ridiculous.

All were found safe in Brooklyn, thankfully. But, still, it shows there are other criteria than race at work in the decision on whether or not to issue the Alert.
I must say that if they issue one, it will be the THIRD Amber Alert here this week, and it’s really starting to piss me the fuck off. If you are a non-custodial parent, DO NOT ABDUCT YOUR CHILDREN. IT IS NOT IN THEIR BEST INTEREST!
Dumb fucks.

Jul 31, 2008 at 10:26 am -Agreed, sort of. I did cover that case in our forums and had planned to front page it had the family not been found. But still, there’s a definite discrepancy on Massachusetts’ part between how this case was handled, and, say, Reigh Boss/Rockefeller’s. In both cases there was an assault, a noncustodial parental abduction, and flight with an identifiable vehicle. There was actually more information on this case than on the Rockefeller one, and more available history of violence, including a current, active restraining order.
So you tell me why one got an Amber Alert within four hours, and the other is still working on one at fourteen hours in? It’s not like there’s much difference in the two cases other than cash flow, race, and a name.

Jul 31, 2008 at 10:55 am -I thought there was an amber alert out one this one already?
I was watching tv this morning when “breaking news” came on about this abduction which normally they do for amber alerts.
I hear often how MA will issue amber alerts much more easily than other states like NY & that they think it’s going to wear out the effectiveness of the alerts.
But in all 3 of these abductions I think they should have been issued.
And I really hope they find this beautiful little girl.

Jul 31, 2008 at 10:57 am -Sheesh..this is the 3rd incident this week in MA where the father kidnaps his kid(s). Hopefully she isnt being harmed. A lot of times fathers (and mothers are guilty of this too) will figure “If I cant have the kid, neither can (s)he”. I hope that is not the case here.

Jul 31, 2008 at 11:11 am -Well, interestingly, the globe is reporting that a bureaucratic glitch prevented the Amber Alert. Basically, MA did NOT issue an alert because they had credible information that the father headed straight for the MA Pike going to New York. Since they “knew” he was heading directly out of state, the policy is to not issue the Amber Alert here. They made an official request to NY that one be issued there. New York says that THEIR policy is that they don’t issue one if one wasn’t issued in the state of the abduction.
Duh. So everyone is sitting with their thumbs up their respective butts while this little girl is missing and in danger (she has a medical condition which requires medication). GRR.

Jul 31, 2008 at 11:46 am -What is with these assholes abducting their children to get back at their exes? Please, please don’t let him hurt this poor little girl. With his history of violence and an active protective order against him, it sure doesn’t look good for Justice. PLEASE don’t let this be one of those psycho pieces of shit who decides to kill his baby and himself in order to hurt the mother.
…And issue the fucking Amber Alert already!

Aug 1, 2008 at 11:39 am -Justice has been found safe just hours after the Amber Alert was finally issued. Her father took her into the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina this morning and turned himself in. I have to say I’m almost proud of the guy. I wanna kick him in the nuts for taking her in the first place, but he did the right thing by taking her back.
Justice is safe and unharmed, and Joel Brown is in custody.

Aug 1, 2008 at 11:53 am -What a relief!! It’s rare to get a happy ending around here, it seems.
Thank heavens that baby is safe and sound. I could cry.
I bet once Dad heard about her needing medicine, he realized what a dickhead move he’d made. Bad enough that you don’t know your daughter well enough to know her medical needs, but then to steal her up, putting her at risk? For shame!
I’m glad he came to his senses, whatever the reason.
I’d for sure kick him in the nuts once or twice though….

Aug 3, 2008 at 6:04 am -That is one ugly man. I am always surprised how the ugliest people can create beautiful babies. It must be that quality that nature builds into baby animals, it’s something like “neotne.” I tried to find the correct spelling online, but no luck, so maybe I am way off on the spelling.
I am SO glad that this little girl is safe.
