ok…iknow this story very well. i have just come to learn about this site,but i have some thing interesting for you all……i am chrles smith’s ex wife…..ya know the one with 2 of his kids….and as for charlie being abusive to childern is complete bullshit. charlie and i had our disagreement and our fights but he never laid a hand on our kids. if u have ne questions….oh feel free to ask cause i will tell u the whole and real truth.

The mother of a child abused so badly she had to have most of her feet amputated has been sentenced to 10 years in jail. Christina Haynes pled guilty in May to the felony charge of injury to a child. Kyra Wine, 3, suffered multiple injuries at the hands of her mother and mother’s boyfriend, Charles Smith. Smith also pled guilty and is serving a 10-year sentence for the abuse.

A little positive news for Kyra: As of September 2008, she’s out of the hospital and living happily with her sister and grandparents. She’s been fitted for prosthetic feet (both feet were amputated, leaving only part of her heels to fit the prosthetics) and is recovering from her other injuries.

She’s got a long road ahead, but she’s alive, she’s safe, and she’s loved. A much better outcome than most of the abused babies on DD.

A Benewah County mother could face five years in prison. Christina Haynes pled guilty today to the felony charge of injury to a child.

That conviction usually holds a ten year prison sentence. However due to a plea deal Haynes may only serve five years. Haynes is scheduled to be sentenced July 17th in North Idaho.

I don’t understand how this happens… I realize it happens ALL the time, but I don’t get it! These kids interact with people on some level during the day, the older sister goes to school I assume. The grandmother never sees her grandchildren? Maybe the abuse was so extensive THIS TIME that it came as a shocker but I’m pretty darn sure this isn’t the very first time one of the children was subjected to abuse. Clearly Christina wasn’t totally shocked by the behavior of Charles and I’m positive partook in it. So why are the biological father and grandmother acting so surprised? Prior to this the levels of abuse were acceptable and this just somehow goes over the top even to their standards? I am totally bewildered. Then the grandmother gets the kids?? WHAT!? Someone earlier said that obviously the kids will see their mother under the grandmother’s custody – I completely agree. Again! WHAT!?? It’s just insane. I don’t buy that noone ever knew they were being abused on some level.

A good trolling at this point would try to creatively explain and/or justify what happened and minimize your relative’s involvement rather than just repeatedly denying what’s already clear to everyone. The more convoluted the explanation, and the more innocent parties you attempt to implicate in it, the more you’ll incense people who will respond in a serious way. Simply saying not guilty doesn’t change the guilty plea and sentencing a bit, let alone people’s opinions, which are well founded, considering the first two. And it’s not very interesting to respond to, either.

Update: 3/14/09-On Friday, a judge sentenced Charles Smith to 10-years in jail without the possibility of parole.
